  1. In Juneau we booked a taxi from Juneau taxi and tours, you meet up with them in front of red dog saloon and they were able to put my scooter on the back of his van and we went out to mindenhall glacier. Set up a time for him to come back. They have some paths that were paved and some pressed gravel. Both were easy with the scooter

  2. There was nine in my group this past August in Skagway and we did a private tour up to the Yukon.  Very easy if you can get on and off the mini bus , I used my rollator and it folded up. Look them up. Midnight sun tours .  She was very easy to work with and she is very knowledgeable about the area. We worked together on timeline and places we wanted to see

  3. Question, I am supposed to be sailing on the Serenade June 2021 , I read my options! Confused about the lift and shift , first time with Royal Caribbean.  My final payment is coming up end of March, do I need to pay in full by that date in order to take advantage of the lift and shift. Or does your final payment get shifted to new date 2022? Thanks for your help

  4. Looking at Royal Caribbean, Serenade OTS in early July sailing roundtrip from Vancouver with a large group.  Some are concerned about Tracy Arm Fjord being too icy for the ship to get into. Has this been a problem in the past? Most want to see a glacier and this is the only one it sails to.

  5. I would suggest scheduling a whale watch either early or late in your port time. Then transit direct between the whale watch and Mendenhall either by taxi or rental car. This saves considerable time. Then spend the time you want for your hiking.

Thanks! We have booked whale watching earlier that day , now I just need a good taxi company, any suggestions?

  6. Princess cruise SB in July with ports , Skagway , Ketchikan and Juneau. Some in my group want to pan for gold or gold mine experience. Can anyone recommend some good tours for this?

  7. I already have that card and was going to use that for our return flight. Right now a RT flight is 60K flights, so I only have enough for a one-way ticket. Alaska has a good nonstop flight SEA-RDU flight that I am hoping to book (8:15 AM - 4:25 PM). We all have to work the next day, and they have a bit of a drive to get home. Right now the cash price is $304. Hoping it will drop some once SW releases their next set of flights in November. I will book one points ticket, one cash ticket and one companion ticket. Not the best use of a companion pass, but the annual pass in my wallet expires April 2018, so I might as well use it.

OP, sorry to ahve hijacked your thread. One possibility for car rental is a compact and one a little bigger. you can put 4 adults in the compact and the other tow and most of the luggage in the other. I've been seeing a real cheap price for a compact w/ hertz downtown ANC location.

No problem, I enjoyed reading all the suggestions. I went ahead and booked our flights with Delta with just one connection each way. Still looking at car rentals. Thinking about renting a 12 passenger van , the new Ford transit. Hertz and Budget has those .

  8. I am not sure what the current pricing is but demand is high that time of year so it would not surprise me if pricing doesn't go down and possibly goes up.

We book early and as mentioned we don't look back.

    Keith

It has went up even since I posted this , so we went ahead and booked, so that is done now to move on to looking at car rental.

  9. when is the best time to book fights to Anchorage? We are cruising with Princess SB July , 2018. Flying from North Carolina. Right now the flights are kind of high and I see them getting higher. Just wondering if anyone notices a price drop certain times of the year. I am thinking I should book now . Also another question, 6 adults traveling to Denali for a few days before cruise. Two cars or Van rental . Any suggestions for that area , where is the best place and time. 6 Adults plus luggage! Thanks in advance for all the help.

  10. Hi! Sure, we loved the Carlo House! The 3 bedrooms were 1. the King master, which is upstairs with an en-suite bathroom; 2. a large room with 2 queen beds; 3. a small room with one queen size bed. The king master is beyond gorgeous - it's the only room on the second floor, along with the attached bath. The other two bedrooms are downstairs - along with the kitchen, living room, bathroom & laundry room. The 2 queen beds room is large and roomy. I'll be honest - the one queen bed room is tiny. It has just the bed and a small bedside table in it. (it's the one not pictured on their website). We too had questions about the room configurations before we traveled so I had emailed them for clarification. Here's their original response to me, which has a lot more details for you:

The Carlo House is a beautiful 3 bedroom custom home, approx. 1800 sq. ft., situated on 3+ wooded acres. Remodeled and refurbished in 2012. The Carlo House has (3) three bedrooms, (2) two full baths, washer/dryer, custom kitchen , living room, wood stove, cable TV, DVD player w/movies, and telephone. There is a grassed yard with a fire pit (great for smore’s or watching the northern lights in mid Aug on) and a sauna. There is a covered outside dining area with an exotic wood table with bench seating which seats up to 8+ and a BBQ gas grill. A small chest freezer is available if you have fish you need to freeze. The Carlo House is a 5 minute walk from our main property McKinley Creekside Cabins & Café. Complimentary Wi-Fi.

    1st Floor

    • Two bedrooms - One bedroom with (2) queen beds, and a small bedroom with (1) queen bed
    • The full bathroom w/washer-dryer
    • Cozy living room with a small sofa, chair, wood stove, phone, TV, Satellite cable, DVD player, movies, games/cards
    • Custom Kitchen with stainless steel appliances and all the essentials of home. There is a small bar counter w/two stools for seating.
    • Wine chiller in the kitchen.
    • The dining area is a covered outside deck with a beautiful exotic wood custom table w/ seating and a gas grill.

    2nd Floor

Thanks , it sounds perfect for our group of 6.

  11. Thanks for the quick response, we only have a few days 3-4 on land before cruise. Some of the group want to see Denali. Thanks for the tip for rental cars , I think we will have to rent two cars because of luggage. Do you have any hotel suggestions?

  12. There will six of us taking the southbound princess cruise next summer. Want to see some of Denali, should we book the land portion with princess or try to this on our own? How easy is it to book hotel and rental cars ? Tours?
