  1. Yeah, it is disappointing since Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale are so much easier, but if Mariner does in fact take the 3/4 runs from Miami, I'll just be thrilled to have a good ship doing the short trips.

Personally, I think Port Canaveral is a PITA because it is so far from the airport. I hate going out of there.

  2. Port charges are set by the local harbor authorities and cruise lines have no control over those costs - except to vote by taking their anchors to other destinations.

I know that!! I know it is not the cruise line that sets these fees! I just want them to include them so I know the total price when I am shopping for a cruise.

    Geez guys..

  3. Port charges are set by the local harbor authorities and cruise lines have no control over those costs - except to vote by taking their anchors to other destinations.

    I know that!!!

If money is no object which seems to be with some of you.

I have a budget, when I am surfing around looking for our next trip it would be nice to have the total price advertised, that's it, nothing more. I don't mind paying port fees!!

  4. Silly proposal: if a port is cancelled for any reason you get the port charges refund to you. They are not established by the line - nor does the line get them. ---- so it makes real sense for them to be charged as they are.

They could break the price up at the end when you get the total price. But up front they should include them! When you are looking through their web site you know the total price

If you get a refund for a missed port that's great.

I know using the Panama Canal is very, very expensive. I don't mind if they charge port fees etc, that's not the point.

Just give us a total up front!

I know this is an old thread but I also know more than one person that has been ridiculed for not using the "Search" engine.

    Sometimes you just can't win!

  5. They are getting quite high. We went to Bermuda last year out of NYC. Both being two of the highest port fee ports. I think it was in the low $300's. You've probably all seen/heard about changes in the way airlines can advertize their prices. I think cruise lines should similarly advertize. If you can't get on the ship without paying the "whatever' charge.... then that charge should be included in the advertized cost of the cruise.

Yes I agree, port charges should be included in the price. Check out a panama canal cruise. Scary.

  6. Just went to the Celebrity site for this cruise.

I AM NOT LOOKING AT AN INSIDE!! I AM NOT STUPID INSIDE cabin is $509, no perks, Big, Better, Best never applied to Inside Cabins.(I AM NOT LOOKING AT A INSIDE!!!!)

If you buy the drink package and the OBC it comes to $934/person.

Ocean View cabin is $932, pick your TWO perks, and it is still $932.

Sorry, I don't see the bait and switch.?.

Look at the front page on their website it says $569.00 that is what the front says

  7. Hi to all!

Has anyone else run into this problem? You look at the web site and say that's a great deal!! (say 565.00 pp).

You go along and order a drink package and $300.00 OBC

Next page your cost goes to $950.00 PP. They have nothing listed to warn you. So you will pay through the nose. For perks that before were complimentarily.

Big Bate & Switch going on.

  8. If you are using a cab. We left the cars at my brother in laws place in Chelsea since he was going with us.

We got a cab there in Chelsea. Asked to go to the port

Well the cabby had no idea where Black Falcon Cruise Terminal was. Not a clue

I told him to go to south station and hang a left and go towards the big boat. We all had a big laugh. Sorry I didn't fly in. but if I did I would take the silver line.

  9. I thought Celebrity didn't even start their Bermuda cruises until May. Unless they are talking about the repositioning cruise. Does that go to Bermuda?

Being from New England I would describe Bermuda as a "Warm Maine". My husband and I had a blast with a scooter though. It is more rocky than I thought it would be.

But we will stick with Eastern Caribbean going forward.

    No disrespect intended!

  10. And this bears exactly what relationship to the question about driving from Port Canaveral to Miami airport?? No one is flying from Orlando to Miami. And even if they did, ALL airlines have to occasionally reroute due to weather or mechanical issues.

Thank you in advance for clarifying this.

I guess I was long winded. I just wanted to let them know they could consider flying to MIA instead of driving. And that AA offers several flights per day MCO TO MIA.

I have done that trip in a car and I hate it, you better be moving to get there in 3.5 hours. I also have used the Florida Tpk as a detour.

  11. American Airlines rerouted me once because of weather. The flight BOS to MIA to MCO. (I know your going MCO to MIA) and it was on a decent size jet as well.

They have several trips per day. I don't know if its worth the extra money to ease your peace of mind or not. (It would be for me)

  12. The prevailing breezes on the island are generally from the north and east, meaning that, on most days, because Orient faces north and east, there will be a cooling breeze from over the water; while at Maho the breeze, if any, will have passed over the runway and will be noticeably warmer that at most other spots on the island.

Thank you for your reply. It was helpful.

  13. I like Orient Beach down to the right near club Orient because the water is calmer and there is usually a breeze.

Hubby of course (being a pilot) loves Maho. I almost passed out last time it was sooo hot and no breeze. Did I just get an off day or does Maho always feel like a frying pan?:o

  14. I transferred my Summit 3/17 booking to a very very large TA located in Moultonboro NH. I had to go around and around with them. First OBC was $100.00, transferred the booking to TA. OBC changes to $75.00. Then I was informed there would be a $100.00 charge if we were to cancel the cruise. (We are not planning to do this.) Is this the new norm?

We are Elite on Celebrity, upper Diamond on RCL, and Platium on Carnival. You would think we were customers that they like to retain. Anyway I don't need anyones help. I just needed to vent. Thanks for "Listening".

  15. I don't know where the OP lives but here in New England a lot of people I know have been on the 7 day from Boston. They have quite a few perks too.

I personally have not been on the dawn but was on a repo on the Granduer of the seas a few years ago. We were there 2 days (I think) and we rented a scooter for two. Do not do that unless you ride a motorcycle regularly. And you have a wife on the back saying Left..Left in your ear a few times. LOL We had a blast we went all over the island.

We stopped at a park and a man asked for a dollar we gave him the dollar but he had to recite a poem to us first. Nice people there in Bermuda!

  16. Why not just make smokers put a plastic bag over their heads while they're smoking....

Until they make smoking ILLEGAL, then the smokers have some rights to do what they want to do.....

I remember when everyone smoked everywhere...in grocery stores, hospitals, schools....the situation has improved greatly.

Would you folks like a smoke free ship? Carnival Paradise worked out real well! NOT!
