Does anyone know who the current Captain of the Quantum of the Seas is? We were on it last week and none of us can remember and its bugging us. Thank you.

We made no reservations for anything
All we did was make sure we got off early and made our way to the poolside beach beds as soon as we could
As you look at the port, head to the left, passing Sanmangu restaurant passing all the shops on way to pool
it is a nice walk, it’s like walking through a 5 star resort all decked out with water features everywhere you look
I do not recall any trams, but it was less than 1/2mile to pool area 5-7 min walk
Sanmangu restaurant is huge and we just walked straight on in
Check out their website, easy google look up 😉
we watched a few YouTube videos on Taino Bay and learnt about the pool and restaurant
The pool area has a swim up bar and a land bar and it wasn’t crazy busy or loud, more tranquil and peacefulThank you so much ! Can’t wait to share this with my hubby . So excited!!!

Dear Kuddles,
Our vacation time is precious to us, so for that reason alone I urge you to go for the 6-nighter.
Over your lifetime you will have opportunities to go to various ports of call and sail on various ships. However, right now you need to make a choice, so please choose the most restorative cruise vacation--the longer one.
With love,
LanaThank you . I just booked Adventure of the Seas fir 6 nights. I am or was a retired teacher and was asked to come back and help out at school because of a shortage of Montessori teachers in our area. So I did and will be helping them out one more year ( next year) so I had to change another cruise to Spring break of 2024. These were the only two that fit . I certainly appreciated everyone’s help . Looking forward to a very relaxing cruise .

Adventure 👍🏻
Taino Bay Puerto Plata would be the winner on this
all included resort at port with day beds and pool
You can eat at a really cool restaurant
with excellent local delicacies (Sanmangu)
Just a really nice different port from the normal RC stops.
We visited whilst on MSC and would go again regardless of Cruise line
Happy Days!
This is in the port area? Wow!

It leaves March 23, 2024 out of Port Canaveral. 6 day cruise . Thank you for your help and hope your friend books ! Lol !!

Adventure. Puerta Plata seals it for me
Can I assume you have been there before ? If so, what did you do?

I have to move a cruise next year and here are the two itineraries that fit into the week we can go:
Adventure of the Seas (6 day) - Coco Cay, Puerto Plata, and Labadee
Or
Mariner of the Seas (5 day) - Coco Cay, and Cozumel
Thanks for your help.

@kuddles14, we just came back from 19 day cruisetour. Since we were in Skagway twice, did the RT train ride to summit, bus drive through Carcross to Yukon, and the Glacier Point Wilsness Safari by Alaska Excursions.
Train ride was beautiful,
Emerland lake near Carcross was stunning,
Glacier Point Wildness Safari had scenery, jet boating, canoeing, wildlife (could have walked to glacier if not too high water level), and lots of fun,
If prefer scenery, and if train ride reopens to Carcross next year, would recommend to do train up/bus down.
If prefer actions in addition to scenery, would recommend the 6 -6.5 hr Glacier Point Wildness Safari. We arrived port at 7 am, joined the 7:30 am tour. Back to port around 2 pm.
More pictures in my linked report below.
Who did you book with ? We are going on Royal

About 3 months... We booked the May cruise in January, (after canceling the river cruise in Europe when the war broke out in Ukraine). I waited and waited for Dyea Dave Tours to decide if they were going to offer their tour, but didn't want to wait too long, so we booked with Chilkoot.. Dyea Dave Tours decided not to offer the tour this year, and the Chilkoot tour was wonderful.. so I was glad we made that decision...
I would book it now or at the latest by this fall.. August is a busier month than May is, and if you decide to cancel it they will refund it with a 5% fee, as long as you cancel 48 hours before... If the ship doesn't stop in the port, they will refund in full.
What exactly was your tours name ? How long was the tour ?

We were on Viking Orion in may. Our Chilkoot tours trip to the Yukon was the highlight of our trip! I highly recommend them! Ended up with only 4 people on our tour and we stopped at many sights and had a great time!
We’re you able to do the White Pass Summit Train?

We will be in Skagway August of 2023 from 7 to 5pm. I am looking for recommendations of local tour guides and what are some of the must sees in Skaway.
Thank you

If you are fully vaccinated, did you still have to have a Negative Covid test to board or was your proof of vaccination enough?

I have not done either but I would go with Jaylene's because you spend more time on the water. More time on water will probably result in more whales seen.
Thanks . Never thought about that

It's a toss up between Jayleen's Alaska and Juneau Whale Watching. Has anyone have any experience with either of them? Pros and Cons on both would be appreciated.

I am looking into doing whale watching in either Sitka or Juneau. I am currently booked in Juneau with Juneau Whale Watching and I have talked to Captain Gary in Sitka. After speaking with him, I am trying to decide if I should do the combo tour with him and cancel Juneau or just stay with what I have booked in Juneau. Then I would do the land tour with Captain Gary.
Looking forward to your suggestions/opinions.

I know this may sound ridiculous, but am I the only one hesitant to book a cruise out of Vancouver in 2022? That is my preference, but who knows with Canada. They are so slow with vaccine rollouts and are STILL under lockdowns. Who even know if they will allow cruising by next summer. I'm sure it will be fine, but it gives me pause for sure. I guess, it doesn't matter as long as I can get my money back.
On another note, how far in advance do people usually book Alaska cruises? Is a year about right? 6 months? I just don't want all the good balcony cabins to sell out before I decide. Who know how busy they will be next year if things get back to normal...
We were booked for this August out of Vancouver. After careful consideration and some hesitancy, we decided to book the Quantum of the Seas out of Washington for August 2022 for the exact same reasons you gave. After I booked it I felt a lot better. Some day I hope to go back to Alaska leaving from Vancouver.
Also, my sister in law booked our cruise last week and she did get a good balcony. However, if you are going to do this, I would book sooner than later. Like someone said, next year, will hopefully be a lot more normal in Alaska and keep in mind that all of 2020 was cancelled and a portion of 2021 cruises to Alaska were cancelled. These people are more than likely going to be looking to rebook for next year.

Looking for recommendations for a private tour guide. We will be on the Adventure of the Seas and are possibly thinking of wanting to take a short tour of the city. We will be docking at Taino Bay. Any suggestions or recommendations are greatly appreciated.
