  1. I will first say that Disney has currently priced our family out. We have sailed twice with them and loved it, but I can currently take 2 cruises on Royal for the price of one Disney cruise.

The service was so much better on Disney with our girls. Once we arrived for dinner, I did not have to worry about a single thing. They talked with the kids to get something they would like each night. When the food came out, they would cut up anything for each of them and truly wait on them much more than my wife and I. This was great as we could relax and really enjoy dinner instead of helping our daughters.

Will we cruise with them again? If the price were right we would definitely go again.

  2. This menu was from the Solarium bar. I stopped in the SchoonerBar to get a photo of the Old Fashioned prices for someone who requested it. Didn't notice different pricing, but I'll check out some of the other bar menus

Yes, that is the difference that I noticed. The Old Fashioned was $14 in the pub and only $12 at the Schooner Bar. I know it will depend on the bartender, but sometimes they will make the $14 drink in a smaller portion or with a differnet liquor and only charge $12.

  3. We were on Indy from 3/29 - 4/6 and carried on three 12 packs of soda in a bag. We were stopped at security and they looked at the cases and asked how many cabins we had, then let us go without taking any of them.

We also taped a luggage tag to a case of water. The water did show up to our cabin, but it had a notes stating that is was not allowed to be brought on.

  4. Don't get to this airport too early though. Won't check luggage more than 4 hours in advance, and won't let us through security more than two hours early. Not sure if that is standard, or just today. As such, we are sitting and waiting!

Not looking forward to heading home to snow after this wonderful past week.

I have to say that FLL is probably my least favorite airport. To be open, we have only flown out on the day a cruise has returned. I'm sure it would seem better on a non turnaround day. I don't airports that don't have connecting terminals and this airport does not have nearly enough seating for the amount of passengers that use it on cruise embarkation days. There have been people sitting on the floor all over the place.

We flew out of West Palm Beach airport this past month and it was so much more relaxed. We did have to rent a car to get there, but it got us home 3 hours earlier so it was worth it for us.

  5. I hope you all enjoy reading these. I originally tried to post them in the optimum resolution for PDF files (300 dpi), but the files were too large to post out here. I reduced the next couple to 200 dpi, but then increased to 240 dpi. The last 2-page one is at 300 dpi. Sorry if some of them are not clear enough.

They are great. Thank you for your work with these.

  6. We use to do all inclusives. Our TA always bragged about Sandals and how fantastic it was. The way that she rave about it is the way that people say how great Crystal is and looking at the brochures it seemed to be. We finally decided to give it a try. That was the last AI that we took. The dining was still basically all buffet, very little entertainment, and what they called premium wasn't even close to the classic package. Only draft beer served in a disposable plastic cup as we're all the drinks. They showed servers bringing drinks and that was all bs. If you wanted a drink you had to go to a bar and wait in line. No whiskey, or buourbon, limited choice of wine either white or red. I can go on and on.

It was the biggest waste of money for a vacation. It was no better than some of the other AIs that were 1/2 the price.

They are fun but don't offer the same choices or quality as a cruise. The only advantage is you can lay around the beach all day and swim in the sea if that is what you like. Plu

I agree that they do not provide anywhere the same options for entertainment. I feel that they are completely different vacations. When I cruise, I like to go on independent excursions and see many different places and things. When I go to an all inclusive, I go to simply relax, eat and drink. I highly recommend Excellence, specifically Playa Muejers. If you ever think of trying one again, put this one on the short list.

  7. I personally think that the service has been better on Disney than on Celebrity. The biggest difference is in the area for children. We have 3 young daughters and I love that the different aged kids clubs on Disney up to teens are connected so they can find each other if they want. The entertainment is also on a different level. Lastly, the attention the servers give to children on Disney is over the top. They help the children with their order and even cut up the food for them if needed.

I think they are similar except I feel that Disney is definitely geared towards families with younger children.

  8. I've been to a fab couples resort in the Riviera Maya where they have a box they put the room service in there and call you to let you know it's arrived. It was sooooooo nice!

Excellence? Playa Mujeres is our favorite resort in Mexico. Yes it is such a great setup. No trays on the floor outside of rooms when you put it in the box when done.

  9. -Anyone who says X can't change the program to those with existing reservations without letting them know or doing this or that, has not read their terms and conditions and is simply flat out wrong.

I disagree with Cle-Guy; there is at least some merit to the other postings. While Celebrity can change the rules anytime, there is an issue of "good faith". What if you purchase the classic alcohol package which allows you unlimited cocktails up to $8 and beer to $5, and then prior to your cruise the prices for cocktails are increased to $9 and beers to $5.50 thereby making the package essentially worthless. Could Celebrity do it? The "rules" allow it. Would it be acting in good faith, of course not.

It reminded me of the issue several years ago when a Court found that charging a fuel surcharge after the fact was improper. Or the imposition of a baggage charge after a ticket is purchased

It would be so much simpler to say.."new guidelines apply to any cruise booked hereafter".

I think you summed it up very well. There is a difference between inferring that someone is saying I am so angry with Celebrity because of this change and I am not going to book with them again versus simply hoping that Celebrity would honor the previous calculations.

Do people cruise simply for the points, no of course not. Now many, including myself have booked CC to get double the points of a veranda. That is something that makes sense to consider. For an extra $50, $75, or $100 per person is it worth getting double the points and/or the benefits with the CC?

I fell that Celebrity could have handled the conversion much better by announcing the changes at least 90 days ahead of time. Would I like my points to be calculated using the old system since I am past paid in full? Of course I would. Am I going to pout and scream on my upcoming cruise? No, I will enjoy it. But I can simply ask them to calculate my points under the old system and they can say yes or no.

  10. Yes, they should transport the bottle for you. You will need to ask them and let them know where to take it. We too had a cruise where we were not charged a single corkage fee. We were a large group of friends and probably had 12 bottles through the week. We left a very generous tip!

  11. I agree with JJPacer. The point is that they have taken money with a penalty to cancel and then changed their rules. They should either give the equivalent points as under the new system to those that are past final payment or allow cancellations with full refunds.

We are in the same boat with an upcoming January cruise. Now I doubt that many cruisers will cancel if they would actually allow that option, but it would show good customer service to do so.

I sent an email asking to be credited with 60 points for an upcoming CC 7 night cruise instead of the 35 points with the new system due to the fact that I am past the paid in full date. Of course, I haven't heard back yet and don't expect to the the answer I am hoping for.

  12. We left our luggage with Barrachina last year. There is no "charge", but tips are accepted. We left $5 for a couple of bags and came back to have lunch there before heading to the airport. We were out of Pan American pier and it was maybe a 5 - 10 minute cab ride.
