  1. I'm searching for something similar so I rehash an old topic instead of starting a new one.

I like to know exactly when Carnival first started cruising out of New Orleans? All I can recall is seeing the Tropicale docked at the Julia Street Cruise Terminal back in March 1995. I know that Carnival used the Tropicale to test the waters of a new cruise home port back then when she was in the fleet.

  2. Carnival Pride out of Baltimore leaves on August 20 and would be in the eclipse area on the 21st. I am certain people on that cruise will experience a partial eclipse on their way to Grand Turk with 2 sea days in between. I don't see why the Captain wouldn't slightly modify course to be in the total eclipse zone at sea. There would certainly be a warning about not staring at the sun and a mention about it in their FunTimes.

  3. I was on the Dream and they are still using that yougurt. Peach is the only flavored one that isn't sweetened with High Fructose Corn Syrup. It's strange that it's made in Germany. I thought that the EU sets limits on HFCS.

  4. Date: 2016-09-25

    Ship: Dream

    Class of Guarantee: Balcony

Cabin Assigned: 62xx (even number) on the forward Port side so I can watch the Carnival Triumph pass by twice on the Mississippi River from the comfort of my balcony!

Date Assigned: (Booked on 2016-07-06, got room assignment 27 days after booking on 2016-08-02)

It's going to be a long walk to our assigned early dining and comedy shows. Isn't the Crimson Dining Room used for Your Time Dining?

  5. I am wondering why wasn't more of the oceanview rooms converted to balconies? I know you most likely can't convert the porthole rooms into balconies but was converting most oceanview rooms on Main, Upper and Empress Decks into balconies ever considered? Can you imagine what it would look like? Somebody post a Photoshopped image!

  6. I will be on the Dream in 2 weeks out of New Orleans and I have late dining. Do they still offer the free bottle of wine on the first night in the steakhouse? I have never been to the steakhouse and I've cruised on the Dream twice before. I really want to try to squeeze in both steakhouse and MDR. From reading the previous posts, it could be done with a 5:30 pm reservation and just take the huge dessert to go.

This will also be my girlfriend's first cruise. She's originally from Honduras but she has never been to Roatan so this will almost be like a homecoming cruise for her (but just short of the Honduran mainland). I don't want her to miss out on the first night's exclusive appetizers, entrees and desserts in the MDR. I myself have NEVER missed out eating dinner in the MDR on Carnival cruises.

  7. Now that's dedication! I guess that one way to quickly reach VIFP Diamond status!

I wonder if the photographers would stop taking his picture after so many B2B2B2B... cruises! I also wonder how long will he have to deal with sea legs? I finally got rid of my sea legs yesterday after getting off Carnival Dream last Sunday!

  8. I've enjoyed a comedian twice on two different cruises; Sensation in Aug. 2005 and Triumph in Aug. 2010. His name is Lance Montalto and he was originally from the New Orleans area. The latest I've heard is that he is on the Sensation from Sept 1-7 and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he will be on the Dream on Sept 28.

  9. I'm only at TR Platinum and I visited Harrah's Reno last September. Since the end of last year I've been getting HR free slot play vouchers in the mail worth at least $125 and now $150 (expires Sept. 2) but just couldn't find it worth it to fly to Reno since airfare is high at RNO. Now that I got my 50K Southwest Rapid Rewards points from Chase, I might consider going there on Sept. 2nd for one night to pick up the "free" 7 days NCL cruise certificate and fly back to New Orleans the very next day. I can book a NCL cruise out of New Orleans and it would be my first time on a different cruise line.

  10. I've always went to Late Dining (because all of the past cruises were with a large group of people that followed a local New Orleans cover band). For the Dec. 14 cruise that I am planning on booking on Carnival Dream (that will be just my family) I am choosing Early Dining so we can catch the Saints @ Bears game afterwards which is on Monday Night Football.
