How did the whole $40 Bermuda charge work out?   I signed up a week ago for the wife and myself, and it is currently pending.  When did they send your approval?    TY

It's a ripoff. We sail Monday...paid our $40 and still haven't received the email for the link to upload test results. Sent 2 emails (no response or reply, have been calling since yesterday, with no success. I'm on hold now for close to an hour. And Celebrity canceled our stop in Newport. A moneymaker for Bermuda. Ridiculous and pathetic.

So why are you still going? you should have changed cruises so that you do not have Bermuda on your itinerary. Obviously you've read the arguments that support Bermuda doing this. Oh...and crisis not over. New York just reinstated public health emergency because of the steep rise in hospitalized case. Insisting this is a way to just make money is uninformed, uneducated, thinking.

I didn't realize you were an expert on Bermuda regulations. The only uneducated, uninformed person would be you. Where in NY did they reinstate public health emergency because of a steep rise in hospitalizations...source and not a fake one would be appreciated.

So let me get this straight, because you have to pony up $55 or whatever amount for Bermuda required test ( their country their rules) you imply hurricane season and karma to an entire country…wow you’ve got issues so please take your pail and shovel and leave the sandbox immediately.

    Karma....and I don't play in the sand

The person I talked to said if you test on board the cost is 55.00 . I’m hoping there negotiating with Bermuda to eliminate that test or rearrange the itinerary because like you said the internet sucks!

I agree...it's a tourist scam for Bermuda to make additional money. They make enough money from cruise lines...port charges, tourist spending, employment to build the docks and port charges. Cruise lines need to make a statement..."change your policy or we will go someplace else". Hurricane season is coming...karma is a b-t-h!!!!!! I didn't even plan on getting off the ship, why force me to pay anything?

  5. I usually buy a watch or two...two massages for the wife...two bottles of booze to take home for the son...specialty restaurant (not a lot on the Summit)...we just got off of Royal and was able to take out money from our obc. pay 5% and walk around and cash them in for cash. Hopefully Celebrity does it. I've accumulated $1,550 in obc, wish me luck. I won't leave 1 penny for Celebrity.

I completely agree, thought as I mentioned in another reply, I fear it may not be long before RCI sells off their remainder smaller ships and shuts down operations in Baltimore.
All the best my friend !

I agree, if Royal doesn't keep up with their ships then they should be sold or decommissioned. I have sailed on a like ship (Celebrity Summit) 11 times and am sailing again for a 10 day cruise in May. That ship is kept magnificent. Always cleaning and painting the ship. Staff is wonderful and very accomodating. As for the staff that was rude and condescending, I intentionally didn't write his name...but I could.

I am quite aware about rust on all steel, especially when salty air and water is involved.

I’ve seen rust streak evidence on all the cruises we’ve been on, but not as much as I observed on the videos and photos pf Enchantment. These areas I’m referring to were the balcony areas, not the anchor, chains, and areas like that.

As far as the upholstery goes, the padding under the sofa fabric looked as though it was sat on and was near the end of it’s lifetime. There was a lump in the middle and the fabric looked dated.

Anyway, none of these minor issues would prevent us from cruising on any of the RCI fleet, they are just observations.

As long as the service is good, the ship is clean and we get to where we want to go, we’re more than happy.

I'm sticking with Celebrity. Even though it's a RCCL brand, there is no comparison. Celebrity is much more guest oriented and cleanliness oriented. There is NO excuse. Never had a problem on a Celebrity ship. Always sail on the Summit, now that's a well kept older ship also in the ocean with salt sea air. But, they care for their ship...just saying.

Rust LOL.  Even brand new ships have rust. It's a function of sea air.  Scraping and painting are constant but it's impossible to not see any.    As for worn furniture, do you mean the wood or the upholstery?  I've seen upholstery replaced while underway.

The bathrooms don't get a lot of sea air and there is no excuse for broken hand dryers and no paper towels in the bathroom....

We were aboard Enchantment for 12 night cruise in February.  We had none of those issues.

Did your cruise have a number of Spring Breakers aboard?

Nope, no kids really, we also went in February for a 8 day  cruise. Did you drink up everything and eat all the cream cheese and 😀. There is no excuse.

There have been several threads about supply issues.  But look at your local grocery store.  Are there things that are not in stock?  EVERYONE is having supply chain issues.

As for the other issues, no, I have not experienced anything like that.   Make sure you mention the issues on your survey.

I did fill out the survey, but Royal doesn't seem to care. As to the supply chain issues in the grocery store, you are correct. The difference is if the the grocery store doesn't have an item you don't pay for it. In reality I paid for the items before going on the ship. I expect the bathrooms to be clean as well as the ship to be clean. And I definitely expect the toilets to be working in the cabin.

  11. I also have a lot of obc...casino might exchange it for cash or a voucher for the slots. Just get the voucher and turn around and cash it in for cash. I just got off a Royal cruise and was able to do that. I paid a 5% charge...well worth it. I used the cash for additional tipping. Shops are overpriced and the jewelry isn't the best and not worth it. I always pick up a citizen watch to burn the obc

  12. I recently sailed on the Enchantment of the Seas (EOS). I have been cruising for over 25 years on more then 30 cruises. Of my over 30 cruises, this was the WORSE cruise and ship I've ever been on. And I've been on some small old ships that are now a coral reefs. This ship was out of the basic items...no Pina Coladas, Mudslides, tomatoe juice, Bloody Mary's, lemons, cereal, cream cheese, the Freestyle soda machine in the Windjammer were brokenand a lot more basics. Toilets didn't work for an entire day, public bathrooms had no paper towels and the hand dryers didn't work and were rusting away. That's just a short list. Arrogant and condescending  staff that didn't seem to care. We are use to a ship constantly being painted, cleaned and the cruise director being around. We saw the CD ONLY at the nightly show (and there were only 5 out of 7 nights, two nights there were no shows...). even went you went to buy photographs, the printer was broken.

There was a few positives...Embarkment and disembarkment was a breeze and well organized, our waiters were GREAT as was our room steward. Perfect Day at Cococay was beautiful, clean and a great stop...

Has anyone experienced this before on Royal? We usually sail on Celebrity, but this cruise was an embarrassment for the RCCL brand.

You are good. You are not discouraging me. You are expressing your views. We are going in 2 weeks and I am looking forward to it! Looking forward to more of your review.

    When are you leaving?

  14. Was your cruise out of Bayonne to Bermuda? The only time we experienced these issues on Celebrity was that summer cruise. There were over 600 children aboard, running amuck down hallways, in the buffet, and at the shows. As much as we love Bermuda and the Summit, never again! A grandmother across the hall let the kids plaster the door with stickers. The poor room steward...you know they were a bear to remove. I love kids, I’m a retired elementary teacher, but we avoid vacation weeks, try to book Aqua, and find fewer hassles.

Yes...we book suite and hope for the best neighbors. We have booked the same cruise for 8 years and this was the first time we had a problem with kids next door. In Luminae we never saw kids eating. This cruise there was a 17 month old child that was with his parents and grandparents. Extremely well behaved, but one or two times he became restless. They took "Harris" out for a walk. That's intelligent and showing good parenting. Everyone knew "Harris" in Luminae because he was so adorable and well behaved. I love Luminae because of the quiet dining and also because we can order from the MDR menu as well. It usually takes 2 hours to finish your meal, but doesn't have the hustle and bustle, plate dropping and crashing, etc. as the MDR.

  15. We are on the Summit right now. For some reason or another we have $875 obviously. We are in a suite, so we basically get everything we need. So far we have spent $20 in casino (a waste of time and $$), $60 on an excursion and $100 for booze for my son....anyone need some credit...hahaha:D;p:')
