I can't say for sure about other cruise lines, but I know that Carnival also pays the roundtrip airfare for crew members to return to their home countries in between their contracts. If a crew member opts not to take the trip -- which was the case with our tour guide, whose boyfriend lived in the States -- they get the equivalent amount as cash.
Judging from my experiences with their hard-working crew personnel, this is a well-deserved perk.
hi quick question - did you do the chef's table on Magic?

Hi I have been the past two years and don't want to do same menu. Did you have the bicolor soups and kobe beef and rosemary cracker with raw egg(mango)?

Thanks for the info. We have been on the Pride the last two years - easy to drive to Baltimore, and this year we decided to fly to FL and try San Juan as a port. Oh well - we will be on a different ship anyhow. Does anyone here know anything about the Chef's Table menu? We did it the last two years on the Pride, and it was the same menu. Don't want to do it 3 years in a row. Thanks for any info, and maybe Dr. E will be back by Nov.4!

That casino was the smokiest I have EVER experienced on a cruise. I was on the nov 4 - nov. 11 sailing also. Regarding breakfast - The Lido is the best place. Every morning, I got in the omelet line and had a great omelet and grits. They can make eggs for you any way you want them - I would never eat that stuff in the trays - looked nasty!
The thing about Nassau is you just get out of the dock area and walk over to the museum or the Distillery or other areas, and it's fine. No one bothers you, and you can see some nice stuff.
