Perfectly safe to walk around the main shopping strip area near the cruise port. If you are looking for a great restaurant, try Pancho's Backyard. Excellent food, drinks and live Mariachi band daily.

They will probably not assign a cabin until sail date in case someone cancels and a balcony becomes available.
-
If the balconies are sold out and you are in a gty balcony, they will have to upgrade you to a mini suite. You cannot be downgraded

As much as you can carry as long as they are sealed bottles or cans.

23 days until sail away on the Star!
-
I am sailing on the Star next month and will let you know if these issues are still occurring then.
-
Native Choice needs to be booked ahead. Otherwise you may find they are sold out, as they are quite popular.
-
No, but I am intrigued to hear what it could be.

OBC will be in USD, but your cruise fare can be booked in either USD or CAD, your choice. The current exchange rate NCL uses for Canadian bookings via travel agents is much less than the current actual rate. Approx $1.11

Yes, taxes will be charged until you are in international waters which won't occur until a few hours after departure. So, any purchases made between that time, drinks, etc will be taxable. Once the gift shops open, you will usually be in tax free waters.

DON'T DO IT!!! (Unless it has changed)
After they transformed the superstar leo into the ncl spirit my wife and I boarded on a beautiful day out of nyc for a 12 nighter. The weather in November was quite warm and we decided to get on the ship and check it out prior to sailing. One of the stops was the lounge up front and immediately noticed that the area around most of the sitting area's had not been cleaned prior to boarding. OK, no big deal. Even though it had recently been refurbished the paint, railings and some of the carpet looked pretty funky.
OK new so called ship maybe some human oversight. For the rest of the cruise public restrooms not clean, full trash cans and even STUFF on the seats. Other public area's not up to snuff. Just dirty and old, not like the Dawn. Thank GOD the weather was great in all the ports. I could go on and on. Wife will NEVER be seen on her again. P.S. Only thing worse is going on the Carnival Pride. (What an ironic name) I am not a cruise snob by any means but try the Gem like we will in Oct. or explorer of the seas or one of the Princess ships out of Brooklyn. Bummer; sorry. Tell's it like it is.

Just curious when you took this cruise? We had two fabulous cruises on the Spirit in 2010 & 2011 out of New Orleans to the Western Caribbean. In two weeks we will once again sail on her out of Barcelona for a 12 night Mediterranean cruise. During both of our previous cruises, we found the ship to be very clean and well serviced. Sorry to hear you had a less than stellar experience.

We have sailed on POA twoce. First in 2009 and then again in 2012. On our first cruise we were able to see the lava flowing quite freely into the ocean. We went up to the observation deck as the entire ship was a buzz with excitement. However, on the second cruise, the lava was no longer flowing into the ocean. It is constantly changing. You won't know until your sail date if you may see lava or not.
That being said, the port side does have great views of the Napali coast which has narration being announced at the same time. The ship does turn around to afford the starboard side a view too. But, it isn't as long of an experience, as the ship begins to sail off into the distance after a few minutes losing sight of Kauaii.

I am not sure about floats and shakes...they are probably extra charge, as is bottled water, juices, specialty coffees, etc. but with the UBP you can order any virgin drink you like whose alcoholic version is covered under the package. Make sense?

Thanks Mike
You're welcome. This site can be a bit confusing to navigate until you find your bearings.
-
Go to forums/roll calls/norwegian spirit roll calls/then look for your sailing date.
-
Which sailing are you on? You should post this request on that roll call. You will get a quicker reply from those on your sailing.
-
All current pricing and schedules are on their website.

I am not sure how the UK site works, but with ncl.com you select your cruise, cabin type, etc and then enter a promo code for whichever perk you are wanting to apply against your booking.
-
In the USA and Canada, this promotion is eligible on all sailings, as long as they are booked prior to July 31. NCL's website is not always the most user friendly.

No passports required for any of the ports including Barcelona and Venice, if you are a US or Canadian citizen.
Sorry for the misprint. That should have read only passports are required, NOT visas for US or Canadian citizens

There should be plenty of options on board the ship to book using your shore excursion credit. You will only have a $75 credit per port (up to four ports) and the credit must be used in each port. You cannot save the credit from one port to use it in another port. You either use it or lose it. The beverage package or dining package is a much better value as a promo.

No wait time between drinks that I have encountered.

I believe Mahogany Bay was built by Carnival.
Fathom excursion: Downtown Puerto Plata & The Beach On Your Own
in Dominican Republic

We took this excursion on our Sept 11 sailing. It was very enjoyable and well worth the cost per person. The beach was beautiful and we were able to enjoy snacks, drinks and a gorgeous sunset. Will be doing it again when we return to the Adonia in January.
