1. We did the Christmas cruise on the Volendam and disembarked last week. The ship is in such great condition and has a certain vibe to it that is hard to explain. She really is beautiful. The Mix bar is wonderful as are the comfortable chairs in the piano bar. We also loved the aft deck for a spot of sunshine and a cool beverage. Have a great cruise.

  2. We have just arrived home from a 14 day Asian Explorer cruise on Volendam. Our Neptune Suite was equipped with a Bose sound system that was Bluetooth enabled so any device could be used. It was wonderful. Mimosas were delivered with our coffee each morning and were lovely. We attended a suite lunch in the pinnacle grill and were invited to the welcome aboard reception in the Neptune lounge but did not attend as we had made dinner arrangements. There appeared to be a lot of guests and officers present when we walked past the lounge though. If there were cutbacks we never noticed, and every detail of our cruise was just lovely. I'm now having severe withdrawals though and leafing through the future cruise booklet for our next adventure.

  3. Enjoy your cruise and Neptune suite.

We were surprised by how much sparkling wine we were given last cruise when we were in a Neptune suite - just lovely. It seemed every time we turned around a bottle appeared in our suite!

Well if that's the case I'll order an orange juice and add my own bubbles [emoji12]

  4. We are sailing on Volendam leaving Singapore on 22nd December (two weeks time) for 14 nights. What do you think our chances of getting any of the new suite perks are since technically we are sailing in 2016. I know we won't be getting the dry dock updates but mimosas for breakfast would be nice :). We've never had a Neptune suite before so everything will be special regardless, but some of the new amenities do sound good.

  5. We booked a balcony guarantee on the Noordam last year on a Med Cruise and were "upgraded" to the observation deck. The balconies up there are half the width of a normal balcony and we were disappointed to say the least. If we'd known these smaller balconies existed we would have booked a set cabin but felt we were downgraded. Being up high was nice but we learnt our lesson. Apart from that, we loved it.

  6. I did something similar as a surprise for DH 50th birthday this year. So much planning and so many little deceptions leading up to it. You want to make it perfect I'm sure. I waited till we were almost there and pulled over the car. I handed him my phone ready to play a song "cruising" by Huey Lewis and told him to put the headphones on and listen. The look on his face when he realised was priceless.

No matter when you tell your kids, the reaction will be perfect. Have a wonderful time. :).

  7. No, I did not think you were attacking HAL. I just thought you were extremely rude and arrogant.

One reason I've never asked a question on here is the fear of answers such as these.

Having only done one cruise on HAL which was a 22 day Med cruise on Noordam last year, I can say that we were extremely happy with every aspect. We have cruised Princess in the past and found HAL to be more to our liking Hence we have booked a Neptune suite from Singapore on Volendam for a Christmas Cruise this year.

I hope the nice people on here have convinced you too.

  8.
I didn't know passengers on HAL ships had to pay for the Le Cirque show. Last year on NCL Jewel the amazing Le Cirque show was free.
Le cirque is a specialty dining experience held only once or twice a sailing. It is extremely special.

  9. We had an observation deck cabin last year and the balconies are a lot smaller. Two chairs can fit sideways and a small table, but Not much else. To be honest we were disappointed. Lovely to be so high up and easy access to outside and spa but difficult to get comfortable on the balcony. I would not choose it again for us because we spend a lot of time on our balcony. Our upcoming cruise is guaranteed to have a larger balcony which suits us better.

  10. My husband received this email also and we booked a Christmas /new year cruise on volendam. It cost us $1,148 each for a Neptune suite for 14 days. Book price is $12500 each. I think we won the lotto :).

  11. Hi,

We did the Christmas cruise on the Dawn Princess quite a few years ago. Our extended family of 27 went and it was by far the loveliest Christmas we have ever had.

The carols were beautiful, and the fake snow in the Atrium very special. All the children, including teenagers were given a gift, and the meal in the MDR was superb. It was so nice not to have to do anything. I am almost certain that it was a Formal night too. I would highly recommend spending Christmas on a Princess ship.
