  1. The only way I know is to do "mock bookings" through the NCL web site. Go in and act like you are making a new booking for your sailing, go far enough in to where you get the room selection screed for your category, and see how many are still available. Things to note: when inventory gets low in certain categories, they will often switch to GTY, so you won't be able to see the available rooms in that category anymore. Also, the cabin selection screen will only show you the 15 "best" available rooms in a given category. So if there are more than 15 rooms left, there is no way to know how many more there are.

    Thank you!

  2. I'm planning to do an upgrade bid when the opportunities comes (I sail in December). I see some people writing about checking to see how booked up the cruise is and factoring cabin availability into their bids. How do you crafty people find out the current occupancy of particular sailings? Mine is a re positioning cruise thru the Panama Canal down to Chile, arriving Dec. 22.

  3. Hi everyone,

I'm back too! It's been a few months and I'm pretty much around the same weight. My cruise is now about 6 months away and with the turtle rate of speed that I lose weight I may be able to lose 6 pounds between now and then . LOL

I'm thrilled to see that everyone is doing well and losing weight.

I'll weigh in on Thursday so get a new baseline and then buckle down again to lose this last 10 pounds.,

  4. It sounds like everyone hand a great weekend and a productive first few days of the week. My run partner has caught a bad cold so without her to get me going I've been quite the sloth this week. The weather hasn't helped much... we had a bit of snow! We have (?had) flower blooming in the garden and I went for a bike ride in shorts already this year, so the snow seems a bit out of left field. Tomorrow is weigh in. I hope the downward trend continues for me and everyone else.

  5. I am down another pound (or maybe a bit less). I'm going to WW this morning to weigh in on their scale but mine at home shows a loss. I don't lose very much but if I lose a smidgen every week I'll be back where I want to be soon enough. I leave for a week in Mexico in 3 weeks so I may not be able to lose the last 4 pounds but I'm going to give it a try. On another note, I'm on my 3rd week with no sweets! I have quite the sweet tooth so this is a major accomplishment for me. Have a lovely weekend.

    Mike-Great loss! I don't think I've ever lost 4 pounds in a week.

    Winewanderer-

Cruzemema- Your high BP sounds scary. Glad your heart is good though.

Cruises42- Getting back on track is the hard part. You can do this. Keep coming here and checking in.

Diana- 1 pounds down and a couple more weeks to get the rest off. It will be nice to be at the weight you want for your cruise.

Shootr- Nice that you had a loss. I live in Vancouver so a rain jacket like yours is a must have. Looking good though.

Belle- I missed your poem. Nice to have you back.

  6. Hello all. I'm down another 1/2 pound. Not a big loss but a loss the same. I'm noticing my clothes feel less tight so maybe the changes for me aren't all weight related. I've felt quite in control this week and did not eat even 1 sweet (huge accomplishment for me)!! I don't cruise until December but I do have a week in Mexico planned for mid-March so I would like to lose the last 7 pounds of winter weight.

    Belle- Have a great cruise

PunkiC-That's a big loss. Congrats on a great starte

Diana- Your cruise sounds fun. I've never been to Australia.

    Mike- You can do this!!

Rose- You can lose that gain in no time.

Cruznmama- You'll be where you want to be soon enough. Great job

Jo- 0.8 is not too bad. I can gain that just looking at food

  7. Hi all. I'm not sure where my week went. I certainly thought of all of you but just didn't get a chance to check-in this week yet. I have a trip to Mexico planned with some family in mid-March and I've been kicking around these last 8 pounds for months. I bought a gym membership in September but I only used it a couple of times since then, until this weekend..... I went 2 times! I feel a bit lost in the gym- all those machines, but I ran for a bit and then the next day did a short (but apparently effective) interval session. I am down 1/2 pound :D

Jo- I'm in Vancouver so I would be interested in getting the name of your Expedia travel agent. I used Expedia once to book an Alaskan cruise and the TA was very helpful so I wonder if it's the same one.

Shootr- I don't like cheese but that looks amazing. Happy Birthday!

Mike, Shootr, Belle, Diana, Lizette, Cruzmama... hope I didn't miss anyone. Have a great start to the week.

  8. Good Morning all! I'm about the same this week (or maybe even up a smidgen) which is a bit of a disappointment as I'm doing all the right things. I even passed on the date square at my book club meeting this week and I LOVE date squares. It reminds me of my grandma. She's a self-described terrible cook, but she makes amazing date squares (or matrimonial squares as she calls them).

I did get some good news this week and found out that I got the job that I interviewed for last week!! I start my new job next month. My partner is taking me out for dinner on Saturday night to celebrate. It's an Italian restaurant, with a set 3 course menu that includes risotto, another one of my personal favorites. Yep, its very calorie laden so I won't be eating much that day other than dinner.

It's been a very busy week and will continue to be so for the next couple of nights but I'll check in again on the weekend to see how everyone's weigh-ins went.

  9. Hi again all,

I had a terrible day on Friday and tried a little of everything.... which added up to a whole lot of silly calories. I'm happy to say that I jumped right back on the bandwagon on Saturday but the damage has been done. No wonder if keep losing and gaining the same few pounds. lol

I have a busy week ahead so I need to make some time to to plan ahead. In between football today I'll do a bit of cooking for the week. Maybe make some low calorie soup of some description to stop me from snacking on the wrong types of foods.

    Have a great week everyone!

  10. Thanks Belle for getting us started. I'm down 1 pound which I'm happy with. I have another 7 to go until I'm back at my preferred weight and the pounds come off very slowly as I get closer to my goal. I've stayed on track with my running (thanks to my friend making me) and I went to my trainer twice this week. I would love to find some motivation somewhere to actually go to the gym. I hate paying for a gym membership and then not getting myself the 2 blocks to work out there. My job interview went well but I won't find out until next week if I get the job. I ended up meeting up with another boss to talk about 4 month sick leave fill-in job which would also be interesting. I should find out about both opportunities next week. My son has gone back to university and my partner returned from Germany so life is getting back to normal. I hope everyone has a great week and the weigh continues to come off.

  11. I went to WW this morning. It's the first meeting since December 13th. I'm happy to say I was only up 0.2 since then. My WW centre closed down so I had to find a new Saturday meeting. The one I went to today starts at 8:30 which is a bit too early for my taste but the leader was great! I'm absolutely going to get out of bed for her. I haven't been very impressed with the last few leaders I've had so it's really nice to finally meet one that seems personable, relate-able, funny, thoughtful, and more.

After WW I went to Costco with a friend. She's recently joined WW and is very enthusiastic about it and already lost 4 pounds in less than a week. She needed some point friendly foods and Costco is good for some tasty ones. I enjoy the occasional Costco run and am particularly happy when I get out of there without breaking the bank. Today was a success.

The remainder of my day was spent trying to get my 18 year old son ready to go back to university after his Christmas break. It's like herding cats unfortunately. There was laundry to do, and long johns, gloves, and a balaclava to pick up (he's heading back to Montreal to -21 Celsius and didn't even bring a coat) and finally a suitcase to pack. He leaves in the morning and I won't see him for 4 months.

I have a job interview on Tuesday so I spent a little time preparing. Please send all your positive vibes my way Tuesday afternoon (PST, lol)!!

I'm now waiting for my partner to arrive back from Berlin but his flight has been delayed so it looks like he'll be home around 3:30am. Thankfully, he's offered to hop in a taxi because I don't think I can stay awake until then.

I hope everyone has a restful, healthy Sunday.

  12. Shootr- My partner is a geologist and has a very large mineral collection. It all looks like rocks to me, some shinier than others.

So far so good this weekend. Went to the gem and mineral show this morning and picked a blind geode to take home and crack.

Then to the yearly dog agility trials. Picnic'd with Jimmy John's - they offer sandwiches wrapped in lettuce leaves instead of a bun. Switch out the mayo for mustard, add sprouts - and the turkey sammich wasn't bad at all.

(Camera phone pics, not my best effort...)

Now some lounging and football. Have a great weekend all! 6dd08ee736fb22f8a195768b01dee5ae.jpg8c25529ade491399dd2e9e63d42a8daa.jpg18481bcfb680757c59f24ecbef83e305.jpg

  13. I had a friend lose large amounts of weight (200 pounds, twice) using a similar program but both times he's gained the weight back and then some. He's an extreme example though as he has a very dysfunctional relationship with food. On the other hand, I've heard of people who are successful on the program. Everyone is different so whatever works is good. Carrying too much extra weight is not good for one's overall health and wellness.

  14. I've booked at Plaza el Bosque for $124 US) (http://www.plazaelbosque.cl/. My partner has stayed there many times for work trips. I've only had the Pisco Sour there but my partners tells me the breakfast is delicious. It's located in Las Condes area and is near a Starbucks and other shopping and restaurants, including my favourite Peruvian restaurant Ica (https://www.tripadvisor.ca/Restaurant_Review-g294305-d3397180-Reviews-Ica-Santiago_Santiago_Metropolitan_Region.html). There is also a Metro Station within walking distance.

  15. Happy New Year Shootr, Belle, Mike, Diana and anyone else I may have missed. It was a very long night for me of driving drunk young adults around (my son and his friends). I'm just sitting here waiting for the caffeine to kick in to I can get out and enjoy some of the sunshine we have here in Vancouver. Those who have spent time in Vancouver might recall we are known for our "liquid sunshine" aka RAIN so a rare winter day with mild temperatures and sunshine is a treat. I plan to start my New Year out right with a walk. I have to ride my bike to work today as my son is back from university and uses it to visit friends or family, plus.... biking fits into my 2018 goal of getting exercise and losing those last pesky pounds.

I have some green juices all prepared and will drink those today to reset, then back to tracking and counting points. I have a trip (non-cruise) planned to Mexico for March and have to be able to fit into my shorts again by then !!

Have a great start to 2018.

  16. Hello Shootr, Belle, Rose and Diana. I hope you all don't mind but I'm going to jump in here and join you.

I gained 3 pounds since last week which is a really bummer. My son returned from University and my whole routine is off, plus I ate an awful lot of chocolate and baked goods. LOL

The last couple of days I've been pretty good with my food choices and even ran a couple of times but the scale is not moving down which is discouraging. I'll come back next week and hope to have better news on the weight front.

Happy New Years to you all!

    Monique

  17. I'm a WW Lifetime member who is trying to get back and stay at my preferred weight. It's not a lot that I have to lose but even losing a pound is a lot of work for me. I feel like my eating is under control (most days) so now I just have to get active again. We cruise December 2018 Miami to Valparaiso so my goal is to be a few pounds under my preferred weight so I have a little wiggle room on the cruise.
