  1. I wouldn't. Seems an odd situation to me - just because someone is pleasant to you when doing their job over a one week period, why would that translate into becoming friends? Do you send friend requests to the cashier at the grocery store, who checks you out every Sunday after shopping? Nope. Same sort of thing here. It isn't the craziest concept I've ever heard of, but I wouldn't consider sending a friend request to someone I met on the ship.

  2. Was going to ask the same question - I just booked last week for January 2018 and there's hardly anything up for our ports yet - certainly not the ones we want to do (Mayan ruin excursions, etc.). This will be my 7th cruise, but the first in quite a long time, and I couldn't remember the timing of excursions being available online!

  3. I'm a manager, and I've hired numerous people over the years.

I have on more than one occasion have a new hire indicate that they have a planned vacation in the same circumstances as your husband (eligibility for vacation doesn't start for 6 months) and ask for special consideration (while making it clear they will be fine with a response either way).

I've always been able to accommodate, and happily so. They aren't taking extra vacation, just accelerating.

I think your husband should feel free to ask, assuming it isn't a position where they will need to find someone else to fill a shift or do his work. If he does it the right way, making it clear a "no" is perfectly acceptable, there should be no issues.

Same here. Employers are often very understanding and will work with new staff to accommodate preexisting vacation plans whenever feasible.

  4. Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere - we set sail TOMORROW  so I am super busy and frazzled at the moment. :o

I understand that each of the two adults in a Spa cabin receives two vouchers to use for pilates/yoga classes. I totally am going to use mine as I love each of those exercises.

My husband will not use his vouchers. He's just not a yoga/pilates/gym sort of dude. :p

My question is, can I use his two passes so they don't go to waste? Or are they in his name just for his usage only?

And I suppose another question - are they good for yoga/pilates only or could I use them for a spinning class?

    Thank you!!!

  5. The answer I got from the TA was:

"The new promotion to get that rate is called "The more the merrier" which does not honor early saver rates. I am just relaying to you what was told to me by Carnival. I am very sorry I cannot override their decision."

    Is this legit?

    Thanks.

  6. Hello.

We sail ONE WEEK from today - hooray!

A couple of days ago I noticed the fare for our exact cabin type was $55 less than I paid for it with Early Saver. I emailed my travel agent and asked him to submit the form so I could get this as OBC.

He said Carnival would not grant OBC because it was after final payment and too close to sailing?

I have never booked ES rates before and it seems odd to me that I can't get OBC right up until sailing if the rate has gone down from what I paid. I cannot determine clearly from the documents whether this is right. Can someone please advise? It's "only" $55, so not a HUGE chunk of change, but enough to buy a few beverages! :p

  7. We live in NJ, so no hotel necessary, but we have cruised on the Splendor several times and research parking regularly. Best deal is from Alliance Parking, they have what they call 3-14day car storage for $19.00 a day. They are located 1 mile from the port. My husband drops me off, with the luggage and I get that taken by the porters, he goes parks the car and walks to the port. About 10 minute walk. On Disembarking, we do walk off. We walk to the street with the luggage, and he goes to get the car while I wait for him with the luggage. It works great. Here is the website.

    https://www.allianceparkingservices.com/3-14-day-vehicle-storage.html

We use the 560 West 43rd location, it's the closest.

You can easily stay in an inexpensive place in Jersey about 20 minutes from the port and drive in the morning of and use this service.

Like I said we've used it several times and it works wonderfully.

    Hope this helps.... :)

Thank you so much! I think we will use this for our trip :)

  8. So my son is really responsible but I'm really nervous about letting him sign himself out ? He has been on 9 cruises and is 10 years old but it still makes me nervous. Please give me your thoughts. Also he is an only child so it's not like he will be with someone else. THanks Jen

Ditto. My ten year old daughter has been on two prior cruises amd, while very responsible, I cannot fathom letting her loose on a ship with thousands of strangers. Some of whom are surely perverts/criminals, etc. If she had a friend with her that would be one thing but flying solo at this age? I think not.

  9. I am contemplating auditioning this time - though I haven't yet seen a Legends performance on either of my two previous CCL cruises I do believe it would be fun to be up there on stage, I'm not half bad at singing either. :p

Is the Splendor still doing this show and if so, what singers are up for audition? I have asked a similar question in the past re: Legends - but I seem to recall that this show may have changed in the past couple of years, unsure though, and would love clarification if it still exists and who the artists are these days.

    Thanks!!

  10. The pillows (and all of Carnival's bedding) are nice...I just can't see myself ordering $30 pillows. If they had a sale of 30% off, then I would probably be interested.

$30 pillows are cheap, if you're looking for something decent that is and not a $10 Walmart junk pillow.

I cycled through trying out probably four different kinds of pillows from Bed Bath and Beyond until I found the perfect one. Not one was cheaper than $60 each.

  11. ALL Operating Systems need maintenance

whether on websites, or on the home computer!

I do computer house calls for a living, to do OS maintenance on folks' computers at home.

You don't want to know how many hundreds/thousands of Registry errors I find

on computer systems whose owners who are still clinging to Win.XP!

Users of Microsoft Vista and Win.7 users are not absolved because

once again...all operating systems need their system litter thrown out, and their Registry sorted.

Please ensure that YOUR home system is free of bug and problems

    before blaming commercial websites!

    It takes two to tango.

It takes two computers to work the internet

    - theirs and yours -and you are not blameless

even though you consider the poor thing to be some sort of Magic Machine!

    .

Dude. Get a grip. Do you somehow have a tracking device on my laptop to see what kind of OS I'm running? Happens to be Windows 8 (I am not on it right now and I cannot recall which version off the top of my head, it is recent however). And once again, the Carnival website stated that it was offline undergoing routine maintenance. With a photo of a towel animal with a construction helmet on. There was no issue with my browser or PC. I fail to see how this message on their end could be generated based on a malfunctioning user PC on mine. When NO other websites were giving me any troubles during that time.

Are you stating that every time a website goes down for maintenance that it is somehow magically associated with failures on its users' PCs?
