  1. You definitely need one if you're flying in or out of Oman.  I did this earlier this year, flew into Muscat, then straight into the ship.  You need to apply no more than 30 days in advance, and I recommend using the Omani Police website.  It's relatively easy, and cheap. A lot of the visa companies are making a lot of money out of this!  I spoke to several people who'd paid hundreds!

  2. Hi, yes, I've used the Oman police site for our Visa's in April. It was easy enough as long as you're ok uploading and sizing photos, and they were approved in around an hour.  We were on a cruise, so many horror stories of people paying extortionate fees through visa sites.  The Omani police site is the one to use!

  3. Just back from Red Sea Odyssey and thought the excursions were overpriced and very rushed, also poorly described in terms of ability, accessibility, and duration.  Destination Services were terrible, giving out wrong information beforehand and very confrontational and rude when we complained afterwards.  Don't get me wrong, we we're thrilled to be able to visit these places, and having never been in that area before we're glad to have the "safety" of being on a ships excursion, but if you are more confident and can arrange an alternative I'd do it!

Unlike the Discoveries WIFI on Dream is not very good and it'll depend where you are Midships deck 7 where we usually are is ok some of the time but don't know about other cabins Sorry Hubbie tends to wait until we're in port

Hi, the WiFi is good on the Discovery? I'm hoping so, as I need to keep in touch with home and we have a lot of Sea days!

  5. it is definitely worth giving them a ring.  When I booked there was no option to upgrade seats, so assumed they were sold out, but decided to ring anyway.  Was able to upgrade to Premium going out on Dtreamliner, and extra legroom returning on standard short haul. ( It's a repositioning cruise). Cost was under £400 for both of us.

  6. We had a similar situation.  Booked a report cruise for next year, special wedding anniversary, wanted an "aft" cabin.  Although we booked early, there were no two berths left, so was offered a four berth, which we gladly accepted, paid the upgrade ( none available at the grade we wanted either) and the booking selection fee.  Now wondering if we'll get what we paid for, but hoping, as it's an adult only cruise, and all having grades have sold out, that we'll be ok!

  7. We have just published the review of our amazing cruise. We spent time in Abu Dhabi before the cruise and saw so many wonderful sights. We also loved Muscat and our stop in Aqaba, where I finally got to visit the awesome Petra sight. I hope the review brings back memories for those who have been to these places or helps those of you that are planning on visiting there. I certainly consider these "must visit" ports. You can see the review by clicking on the link to our website in my signature. Enjoy!
Wow! Thanks for sharing your amazing review! We are doing Muscat to Corfu next April, and really enjoyed your photos and information regarding Petra.

  8. Thank you both. We wanted something laid back and easygoing, we aren't expecting, or requireing glamour, just an easy week with some pretty sights and little hurry! Mums got a heart condition and going blind and really wants to see Venice again and Dubrovnik, so I think this may be her last holiday. If the beds are firm, I'll take the topper to be on the safe side! Is there a hairdresser/salon on board? Also, pleased with my cabin choice, it looks a bit bigger than some of the others on that deck

  9. Hello, I've just booked to take my mum on the Dream on the Adriatic Explorer cruise in May. I've booked cabin 9038. Can anyone tell me what to expect in general and cabin wise, and are the beds good? I usually take a small travel size memory foam topper for mum to hotels, as you never quite know what the beds will be like, and wonder if I should do so, or if the beds are good? Any advice on life onboard greatly appreciated too! I've only cruised once before on the Ocean Village 2 on honeymoon which was great, and this will be mum's first, at 85!
