Just got off the Royal after 49 days and the Medallion net worked mostly well. My mistake was not accepting a second device for only $20 more

Great, thanks. I'm assuming they can't both be connect at the same time. I'll connect to the LT when in the room and phone when out. Perfect.

  2. Balcony is a completely different cruise experience, no matter what size it is. We’ve been in all cabin types on Princess – Penthouse suites to inside. The only benefit I see in an inside cabin other than the price is you can sleep all day and not know when the sun is up unless you have the ship cam on the tv.

I’ve NEVER seen the Sanctuary full. That’s not to say it never is, but I have numerous pictures of it completely empty or only one or two people there on beautiful sunny days. I often wonder why they keep it, but they must make money with it on cruises I’m not on, or perhaps closing off a section of the ship costs less in upkeep.

  3. Thanks for all your input. I love the Crab Shack. Been to it a number of times on other ships and really look forward to the crab legs.

We’ll also be on the Ruby in Feb '16 so it looks like Share will be in full swing.

    Thanks again…

  4. We’re going on the Ruby in November for the first time and have a few questions.

    1. Is there Crab Shack on board anywhere? Maybe the Café Caribe?
    2. Does the Adagio on deck 16 next to Sabatini’s have entertainment or is it just a lounge?
    3. Have they started serving Curtis Stone menu items in the MDR yet?

    thanks..

  5. When Princess “friends and Family” cruise on Princess, they get BLUE cards also, no matter what loyalty level they are. You can spot them easily. They are the ones with blue cards that seem to know what they are doing the first day or two of the cruise.

Even if you are elite many times over, if you go f&f you get a blue card and no perks, promos or OBCs. If you pay retail you get your loyalty level color and the perks.

So the person with a blue card sitting next to the snob with a platinum card may very well have been on 50 Princess cruises.

And believe me, there are many f&f on all Princess cruises. They just don’t announce it.

So OP, don't be blue, no one REALLY knows how many cruises you’ve been on just because they see your blue card.;)

  6. Hello,

Can I bring a multi-tool or a small folding knife?

I have a small 2..25in Gerber knife I used to have on my key chain. I took it off after 9/11 so I wouldn’t forget when I went through metal detectors.

I’d taken it at least a dozen times after 9/11 in my checked luggage on Princess with no problems. The last cruise I took it on a couple of years ago, our luggage never came and when I called no one knew where it was.

We were really getting concerned since dinner was coming up and we had no cloths to change in to.

At about 5:30 security calls and wants us to come down to the loading area. When I get there our luggage is on the floor – unopened. As security stands around watching I’m told to open it.

After ME going through the cloths, electronics etc. the officer points to my bathroom hanger bag and has me dump it. “What’s THAT?” he asks, pointing to the knife. He said I couldn’t have it but I insisted he measure it. He finely let me take but I was warned it was NEVER to leave my stateroom.

I don’t take it with me anymore.

Once I cooled down however I was impressed with the thoroughness of their baggage check.

  7. The Sip n Sail promo now being offered includes the All-Inclusive Beverage Package for free for the first two guests in a stateroom, and the equivalent of a coffee card each.

Correct me if I’m wrong but on my last 14 day cruise, I think AIBP costs about $600 ($49/day +grat) each and the coffee card is about $35 (15 drinks). That’s about a $1,270 perk for the first 2 adults in the room.

The Princess website states: “In the event that the guest does not want the beverage package, alternative OBC amounts have been designated: Guests booking sailings 6-9 days can receive $150 per person. Guests booking sailings 10-12 days can receive $200 per person. Guests booking sailings 13+ days can receive $250 per person.”

If you’re someone who doesn’t drink a lot the OBC does NOT look like a big deal. If you’re going to drink more than 8-10 drinks a day then it is.

If the way people eat on cruises is any indication of how they will take advantage of all-you-can-drink package, I’m not so sure I want to be anywhere near that boat.

Bill’s going to have a lot more friends by the end of the cruise.
