I'm still trying to figure out this odd Carnival card from 1998!
The lady to whom it was issued works for a major airline for some decades now
so she gets all sorts of perks travel-industry-wide.
Is this card a special issue for industry workers? Travel agents?
What? -does anyone know?
It's not the standard cruise card for the era, because I've seen some of them
and they are nothing like this 'Plain Jane'-lookin card!
.
I just thought about it, and when on the Fascination a few weeks ago some lady had a S&S card/some kind of ID that did not look like a passenger or crew member. She was traveling with a bunch of ppl that was related to a member of the band. I could never get a good look of her ID she was wearing. It was white in color. That's all I could make out. Maybe on that particular cruise June Borne was on a family related cruise to a crew member.
My best guess:D

They COULD walk, but I wouldn't recommend it. The horse riding excursion is way down the island far away from the main area. I messed up the times, and caused my DD19 and DD10 to miss it. They were very disappointed, but no where as much as I was for them. I felt bad the rest of the cruise:(.
They do have a person from the ship taking pictures of the ppl doing the excursion you can buy on the ship.
I forgot to say, your parents might be able to ride up to there area with you. I'm pretty sure they could fit on the shuttle up there with you. Sorry to quote myself:). But I could not edit the previous post.

My son and I will be doing the horseback riding excursion on HMC in two weeks. (I can't believe it's almost here!!) My parents won't be going on the excursion, but would like to watch. For those of you that have been there, it is possible to walk from the beach chair area to where we will be riding in the water? Also, for those who have done this excursion, who should I tip? Suggestions on how much? Thank you!

It is one BIG cabana with lots of perks at a cost of only $1200.00
It was $1395.00 on my June 1st, 2009 visit:eek:. It was booked also, because people were in it and they had a carnival person guarding the slide:(.

Hi everyone,
I will be on the Miracle July 19th...We will be going to Half Moon Cay. I heard alot of great things so far about this island! Does anyone know if they offer Hairbraiding? and if so about how much do they charge? Thanks in advance for any answers!!!
CruzingTeenQueen19
I didn't see hair braiding, but I also wasn't looking. If they had it, I'm sure I could not have missed them saying " braid the pretty ladies hair?". Not my hair, but my 3DD.

What is a Helment camera?
Its a bicycle helmet with a camera on it. I saw them, but didn't go examine them. Seems pointless, unless they record to something. They had quite a few of them on a table.

What is in the "water park area" and is there a cost to that?
The water park was suppose to have many floating/attached animals(20 I believe) and such to climb on. When we were there on June 1st, 2009 they only had 8 things floating in the water. 3 of them were water tramps, and one of the tramps was broken. There was a water slide that went directly into the water, but it was private for people who rented the grand cabana. Not sure if the grand cabana is not rented can anyone use that slide. The grand cabana was in use on are visit. There are 2 small small slides on the beach that do not go into the water. The aqua park has no charge, but I was disappointed by its up keep.
Link from Carnival:http://www.carnival.com/cms/Static_Templates/halfMoonCay/html/index.aspx
Once the page opens click interactive map. This is an interactive map of HMC. Click the aqua park icon and it gives a brief description. Suppose to be 21 water floating animals(NOT). Says lots of things that was not present on my visit on June 1, 2009.

My friend just returned from her cruise and was at HMC. She complained that she got alot of mosquitoe bites while at the bar b Q. Has anyone else had this problem.
Ill just bring along some Off when Im there.
Is the snorkeling any better on the excursion? Do they actually take you to a reef? Anyone know?
Is it hard to find shade other than with that clamshell? I need shade.
Thanks..
I cant wait to go there.. I hear nothing but raves.
There was 6 of us, and the only one that said they were bitten by a mosquito was my DS16.
-
I asked before but didn't see if anyone responded.....hubby and I want to rent a clamshell....do we do that at the excursion desk?
You rent them from the island.
-
Hopefully this is readable:D.
-
Does anyone know how much it costs to rent float mats? I know they're included with a cabana rental (assuming you'd get 4?) but what do they cost if you don't do the cabana?
Beach/Water float $9.00 Full day.
I have the excursion thing, but cant figure how to get the pic on the board AND readable :)
Prices from Fascination on June 1, 2009

what about food? Is the food free or do you have to charge it to you S&S card?
The thing I liked best from the food on HMC was the jerked chicken. It was very tasty.
FYI, shuttles seem to run a little slow during lunch time. It takes 5-6 mins or less to walk up to the food area from the main entrance area(like the shore excursion area).
-
Hi Slim.. just returned from HMC May 16th.. we were able to use our S&S Cards in the shops...
:)
Hey Trock,
Just came from HMC on June 1, 2009 and we needed cash. My kids wanted some trinkets and we didn't bring enough cash. Maybe my family didn't think of asking to use the $&$ card. Either way, a little cash in hand can't hurt just in case:D:p:).

I have a question...
Since I am going to be with my 10 year old daughter who wants to be closer to the water park area, which cabana number should I try and rent?
Thanks
Cant answer the cabana question for you, but as of 6-01-09, the aqua park/ water park was not really up to par. 3 water tramps, and was was broken. Suppose to be 20 floating things in the water, but if you count the 3 water tramps, there was 8. 3 Animals, some round thing, and log raft. There are pictures showing a slide going right into the water. It does exsist, but is considered private and only ones allowed too use it are the ones that rented the Grand Cabana. There is a small small slide system but does not go into the water.

I have a few questions about the bar service.
Since it seems that the operation on Half Moon Cay is operated by Carnival are the drinks the same price as on the ship and is the bar service cash only or sail and sign?
Thanks!:)
The bars are ran by the cruise ship and costs are the same. Use your S&S card. There are a few shops ran by whoever(not Carnival) and they require cash. You MUST have cash to buy the trinkets sold in the few shops on HMC.

All the mist stations that we saw worked !! thankfullY!:)
The one near the first rental station/aqua park never worked. The fresh water rinse in the same area worked for like 2 hrs then stopped.
-
If you think the Aqua park is anything like the brochure, don't expect it to be(5/30/09 sailing). Sand is awesome. Fresh water stations/mist stations near aqua park did not work. Food was pretty good. Loved the jerked chicken. Make sure you don't mess up your excursion times on the tickets they give you:((my fault).
I liked Castaway Cay better other than the sand:D.

We are sailing on Carnival Miracle, Sunday, Feb. 1, which is also Super Bowl Sunday. Will they let us in the dining room if we wear our Steelers' jerseys?
