We are safe and clean. :D
You can have lazy or very active holidays here. There's plenty to see and taste, but you can also be left alone if you wish to loose yourself in nothingness. :)

I'm sorry but I've no idea. I take my own umbrella and my own car. But it should be less expensive than in Italy. You can take public bus no. 17 to go very near.
-
They will start with this line from June 1st.
There is a bus station (international, intercity) very near your boat. This is better than the local bus line which has numerous stops.

I'm not sure (I don't remember) about a wheelchair, but you can certainly come to the grand waterfall with your walking stick. Yes, there is a tree shadow there and a cafe / restaurant.

This is a winter pic of course. :D

Considering that Split is actually a peninsula, we have kilometers of wonderful pebble beaches all around Split, reachable in 5-10 minutes with car/taxi or public bus. Just ask your taxi driver to take you there and set the time when he will pick you up from there. You may ask him to take you to the beach near Radisson Blu hotel.

What is your main port of call, Split or Hvar? You may consider our brand new service - the seaplane from Split to Vis in about 15 minutes. Vis is far away and usually not considered by cruisers. You can stay in cave not more than 7 minutes, do you know that?

That's a lot of money, indeed. I always recommend taking a walking tour in Split, so someone knowledgeable can tell you about history and everything. But I'm not sure about that with such a small kids. Nice gellato in our town. :)

There is a lot of info about cable car and the ways how to go there in another thread, Dubrovnik (merged). I think you can negotiate with a taxi to bring you to the Mt Srđ from where you can take a cable car to the Pile gate, I think.
Port of Split is in the very center of the old town (Riva promenade and Diocletian Palace) so you can easily go on foot even with your small kids.

Do you mean Split? What kind of excursions are you looking at? Some of the interesting sights are very close but for some of the there is a bus ride of 1,30 h. Please specify.

The "beaches" are not the same as you would consider a "beach" with sand. But the water is clean and delightful.
We have pebble beaches mostly. Maybe this is why it's so clean, even with hundred people in the sea.
The sea is not cold in August, it's approx. 25°C/77°F.

Please don't forget to leave some time at least for a short caffe break in our beautiful pearl Primošten. :)

Our entire coast is drop dead gorgeous. So, don't get me wrong, but here is an article about those lists (from my favourite Brit living in Croatia):
I believe you should be able to see the Moreska dance (knights dance) in Korcula, otherwise your stay in Korcula is missing something important. But it is usually held during the night, so it's not available to the cruisers.

I'm sorry for numerous tipfellers.

Please consider to have a walking tour with a guide. It's usually unexpensive and our guides are very good, they are probably history professors trying to make some extra money during the summer. I just watched the popular vlog and I was completely saddened by ignorance of these people. It,s ok that they didn,t took a guide, but they didn,t have any brochure or anything. This is the worst way to visit Split I can immagine. See it here:
Also, I would like to tell you to put Split as a primary place to visit. Than you can go around to visit Trogor, Salona, Klis or islands. I can't believe some people come to Split and avoid it completely. Strange. Downtown Split is the palace, and it's the most preserved Roman heritage in the World (because people NEVER left the palace, for 17 centuries).
So, when you come to Split, first find your walking tour which takes about 2 hours. If youvsuccesfully planned your tour towards thebend of your time in Split, you'll find enough time to visitvsome of the surroundings.

I'm aware I was telling you not to visit Klis fortress because it was so neglected. It's time now to tell you acctually to visit Klis fortress, things have been changed, it's cleaned and organised, they are showing pirate games and fights and by the next summer there will be somo holographic presentations and a lot of things that I couldn't even imagine a couple of years ago.
So yes, I can reccommend visiting Klis fortress from the bottom of my heart. :)
Also, Ancient Salona was and allways is (still not enough) presented and valued world heritage.
So, a lot to see. Welcome! :D

If you are "foodie" and wine lover, than choose Ston and Pelješac. I think the best seafood in whole Mediteranean is in Ston, and the best Croatian wines are at Pelješac island.

After he soaks some atmosphere, I bet he'll come to Split next summer - with his friends. :) Our local youth are saving money whole year to participate in this festival. :)
Skradin (Zadar, Croatia)
in Other Mediterranean and Black Sea Ports

Skradin and Krka are in the same package. Skradin has a few gastronomic destinations, a favourite place of Bill Gates and Anthony Bourdian.
(For Skradin gastronomy experience, fast forward to the last quarter of the show).
