  1. That's what it said when I researched the card.

We just returned from a b2b cruise and we did buy the CPH 72 hour card. I didn't actually total up the cost to confirm that we saved money ... but it sure was easy (I am sure we didn't waste a lot of money by doing it). We bought the card online, printed out a receipt and picked up the card after we got our luggage at the airport. Went straight to the train and never thought about buying tickets again! Enjoy your time - hope your weather is as good as ours was. It was a great (albeit tiring) few days!

  2. My husband and I have booked a Princess Cruise which includes a day in Liverpool. I stumbled upon this thread and WOW - lots of great information. I have read most of the 37 pages and have taken lots of notes. Looking forward to a great day in August.

Thank you ALL for the time devoted to answering questions on this site.

  3. Lars -

Thanks so much for your comments. Two more questions that I came up with after reading some more:

    1) is the road between Alesund and Oye / Hotel Union also closed early in the season?

    2) have you heard any comments about the "electric car" tours in Geiranger?

Next time we plan a trip like thus - we need to check the weather first - LOL!

    Thanks again,

    Stacy

  4. Hi Lars!

Let me start with a HUGE THANK YOU for all of the information provided in this thread. I have taken so many notes from your comments and suggestions - and now my head is spinning! Should we rent a car, ride a train, walk around town, take a boat ride, etc. etc. etc. I decided that I would love to see your best suggestion for each port that we'll be stopping in. Our goal is to see as much as we can - we typically avoid the cruise ship tours. We love either walking or driving around (so that we can spend as much time or as little time as we want) and photographing the beautiful parts of this world that we live in. We are not big museum go-ers ... unless the museum is an absolute must see. Here's our itinerary:

    Tuesday, May 3: Alesund (8:00 - 6:00)

    - Would definitely like to go to Mt. Aksla for pictures; Was also interested in renting a car to do one of the drives, but not sure if we are too early in the season due to road closures?

    Wednesday, May 4: Geiranger (7:00 - 5:00)

    - Looks like this port also could be a possibility for car rental, however, again not sure if we are too early

    Thursday, May 5: Flam (9:00 - 7:00)

    - Interested in the possibility of taking the railway and/or a fjord cruise

    Friday, May 6: Bergen (7:00 - 5:00)

    - Interested in the funicular and/or a fjord cruise

I've saved lots of links for the above options, however, would be interested in your suggestions based on the time of year that we will be in Norway and our goal of seeing as much as possible.

Thanks, in advance, for any and all suggestions that you have!

  5. Well, as a graduate of the University of Texas, I've just gotta help out anyone who's a "Longhornfan"!

While I'm sure you'll want some input from Danish Viking once he returns, I hope the following information will be helpful:

We took public transportation from Oceankaj to the Copenhagen airport. (There is more than one port area for cruise ships in Copenhagen, so you need to see where your ship docks.) The trip, using Bus 25, the special cruise day bus, to Norreport and then the M2 Metro to the airport took us less than an hour, including the time waiting for the bus. It was easy and cost us only 36 DKK.

We did self-debarkation so we were able to get off the ship as early as possible. We got on the first bus of the day, which was sometime between 8:00-8:30 am, and were at the airport within the hour. If you can manage to get an early start like this, you should have enough time for a day trip to Mon. Sunset will not be until 9pm, so you could have a good, long visit in Mon and still not be driving after dark on the return to Copenhagen!

Thank you sooo much for the information - very helpful and just what we were looking for! One of our concerns was how long customs might take, but it sounds like it was not painful when you disembarked.

(By the way, when I saw your log-in, I wondered if you were from my alma mater, and I asked my husband and stepson who also just graduated from The University this month if they thought you were from our UT.)

Thanks again for helping out some fellow Longhorns - Hook 'em!

  6. Danish Viking -

When you return from vacation, hope you can give us your thoughts on this idea: We will be in Copenhagen for several days before a b2b on NCL Star leaving on May 1st. When we return back to Copenhagen on May 17, we plan to stay in a hotel near the airport as we fly out early on May 18. Do you think we would have enough time to disembark, take public transport to the airport, rent a car and drive to Mon for the afternoon? We know it would be a quick trip, but Mon looks like a place we would love to see.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

  7. Hi everyone,

does anybody know if CD Gary Glading is on vacation at the moment and will he join Norwegian Jade soon?

Heard that "Simone ?" was cruise director on the Jade in April? Is that correct

is RJ Red still on the Jade?

Thanks for any answer and sorry for my bad english

    kind regards

    Mel

We did back-to-back cruises from April 27 - May 11. Simone was the CD for the first week, and Gary returned from vacation for our second week!
