Could be since the holiday cruises attract so many young families (most of which are likely newbie cruisers) they might not be involved with Cruise Critic?

My Allure TA November of next year (but is before Thanksgiving) is well over a year away yet, and we are up to 220 pages with 142 active posters.

Your cruise for next November is up to 220 pages? Wow

We are a party of six and have been to St. Martin before.  I am wondering if we can get off the ship and hire a taxi for the day to go to just the places we want to go.  Mainly Maho Beach for lunch and then some shopping.  Do they have taxi vans that will accommodate 6 people?  TIA

We are 6 also and want to do the similar.  We would like to stop at a nice beach for a while also.

    Which city/port?

The one in Ft Lauderdale is discussed here almost daily...just look down the board.

It is the one in Fort Lauderdale. I now it is mentioned one here a lot. I am specifically looking to hear from someone who has been there very recently.

We used him last year. I was very happy with everything. He called hour before pick up , then arrived 15 before pickup to load our groups luggage and off we went. His van was clean with air working great and he was very nice. I would use him again in a heart beat.

    Great! Thanks so much!

We don't predicate our stay based on the cost of the shuttle to the airport or cruise port, Uber is worth it not having to wait for shuttles to fill up.  Our main criteria is a convenient place, close to the port (to minimize the cost of the Uber) and near restaurants and shopping.

We typically pick the lowest rate between 3 properties on or near 17th St.  Hyatt Place, Embassy Suites or Hilton Marina. All 3 are an easy walk to the large shopping center with Publix and and Total Wine & Spirits as well as a lot of great places to eat.

    Good luck on your search.

Good to hear. We have Embassy Suites booked for night before and Hilton Marina for the night we return!

I think the Isla Verde area has the best beach overall in the San Juan area. Water is generally calmer than the Condado area.

You'll have to take a taxi or Uber from the port.

How long of a taxi ride to Condado and Isle Verde?

Most of you know that Adventure is one of my favourite ships. As you can see from my signature, I’ve enjoyed many cruises onboard and I can’t wait see her again, which happens in less than 24 hours!

If you’ve followed my past LIVE reports, you know that I’m pretty dedicated to the cause, so I post a lot, all the time. Having said that, I’m hoping this LIVE will be a little different. There was a LIVE from Adventure a few weeks ago, and while it was started by one person, there were many frequent posters who were also onboard, and they were also posting and answering questions quite regularly.

I’m sure you all know Clarea (Bob), our moderator extraordinaire - he’s onboard this cruise too emoji3.png I am looking very forward to meeting him tomorrow at our informal CC meet up at the Pool Bar. Missing from this cruise is Ocean Boy, he sailed a few weeks ago. Although he isn’t on the ship with us, he will be posting often and will ensure I know where I am at all times as he is my personal GPS whenever I sail..

I am currently in Fort Lauderdale and very happy to report that the weather is perfectly sunny, with no rain expected for the next few days. Sail away should be under sunny skies with temps in the 80’s.

I left Toronto yesterday and it was freezing cold with a lot of snow on the ground and in the forecast.

Please feel free to ask as many questions as you like, I’m pretty sure I’ll have lots of help answering them. Let’s make this a group LIVE - the more the merrier!

Not sure if this was asked but what hotel did you stay in while in Fort Lauderdale?

We always stay at Hyatt Place. Be sure to join their member program to qualify for the complimentary breakfast. The rooms are large and we like having the nice sitting area to spread out the luggage.

It's a short walk to the Harbor Shops for anything you forgot to pack, wine, too. We always meander over to the other side of the parking lot to Mezzaluna for a drink at their bar. Depending on the night you are there, the restaurant/bar has a happy hour. For dinner, we gravitate toward the many restaurants off 17th Street, avoiding the chain restaurants, love Kelley's Landing for New England chowder and seafood.

Wise to take the online reviews of hotels with a healthy degree of skepticism - toss out the overly positive and the same with the overly negative.

Hyatt looks nice but a bit more than I really want to spent for 1 night being I need 2/3 rooms.

Thank you!  The boys are not picky but they eat a lot.   Seriously, we come out ahead just on our grocery bill for the week!

I think we will be fine.  My personal favorite thing on the ship is the food.  It's not the quality that I care about, it is that I don't have to cook, clean or decide what's for dinner!  So, I don't care what they serve as long as I don't have to cook it.  The rest of the family is more into the food.  However, our boys always order several things for dinner.  They never gave us a problem on RC, but we tried Carnival last year and the waiter was super rude.  Yes, our boys ordered two or three appetizers and two meals, but they ate all of it.  Plus they had room for a couple of desserts!  So, I am looking forward to RC and enjoying the good service.

I feel better.  I agree you can find good and bad on all the boards but it is nice to hear some good!

So true!!!!  Can't wait to not have to shop, cook, listen to complaints about what I decided to cook and then clean up!!!!
