  1. Hey Seahawk: we'll be on the 10/15 sailing -- you as well? I don't know of any Princess shuttles from Manhattan, they're all from the local airports. Perhaps you need to take an Uber or cab.

We won't pass close to the Statue of Liberty but once we leave the berth, we'll have a decent view.

    Hoping for clear, sunny skies.

We will be on the 22nd sailing. Thanks for the information. Hope you enjoy your cruise.

  2. I wonder when the RoyalIQ app will go live

Royal iQ is a new app that puts guests in charge of their vacation choices. Thanks to the dramatically improved connectivity, Royal iQ is able to continue dining reservations, shore excursions and spa appointments onboard, through both a downloadable app and at freestanding iQ stations around the ship. Guests also can use Royal iQ as a convenient calendar that provides at-a-glance views of their program and to keep in touch with one another and home via phone and text capabilities.

So, you'll be able to call and text people outside of the ship with Royal IQ? Norwegian had something very similar on the Breakaway, but calls and texts were restricted to people on the ship.

  3. We went on an older ship a few years ago, and the stateroom we stayed in was right below the pool and you could hear people dragging their chairs and lounges. We decideded to avoid booking rooms directly below the pool area, but we are now booked in a stateroom right below the pool on the Breakaway.

  4. Yes. On our Jade cruise of the Med four years ago, the ship overnighted in Alexandria, Egypt, a port call that is (was) intended to give pax the opportunity to stay overnight in Cairo/Giza, which is three hours by car (each way) from the port. Along with some others from our Roll Call, we booked a two-day private excursion, and stayed overnight in Giza at the Oberoi Mena House, right near the Pyramids.

Other than for something like this (where you are touring several hours away from the ship), it's hard to see why one would opt for a hotel rather than the ship. Do you have something specific in mind?

No particular reason, but we're going to be in Bermuda for 3 days and I'm just thinking about staying in a beach front resort if the price is reasonable rather booking a bunch of shore excursions. Which may seem controversial to some considering the cruise is already payed for, but how many times will i get a chance to visit Bermuda. Anyways just thinking out loud.
