  1. I'm looking for information from anyone who has been on any of the Scenic ship and staying in a category C  which is aft. My concern is that there might be engine noise or vibrations that could be an issue.

  2. Absolutely not. There is no extra supplement. If you book a double cabin you will pay a fare for 2 people. If one of the passengers is unable to go, their fees and taxes are refunded but the single person still pays the base fare for 2 people and only the fees and taxes for the single.

Edited to add: If a travel agent tells you otherwise, it's time to find another travel agent.

  3. First time cruiser here sailing on the Norwegian Epic in February. How is the nightlife on the boat? Any bars that are typically more crowded?

    Thanks!!

"Howl at the Moon" was lots of fun on the Getaway so I'm hoping that it's the same on the Epic. Another "must" is Burn the Floor. Even if you're not into dancing you can't help but appreciate the amazing talent of the dancers. I lost 10 lbs just watching them.

  4. We were on a Panama Canal cruise on the Pearl over Canadian Thanksgiving.

They offered a full Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings in the buffet and it was delicious! I made a joking comment to one of my traveling companions after seeing the long line that they probably only had one turkey. That played down the line (I didn't think anyone else heard me). Imagine my dismay when by the time I got to my turn all that was left was bones. I almost cried but the server bent down and pulled up a gloriously golden huge roasted turkey. Several of us cheered. We took our plates and went out to the Great Outdoors to enjoy our lovely dinner in the balmy evening air.

Because it was October they also had an Octoberfest day served in the Great Outdoors. It was really well done.

A nice alternative if you don't want to eat in either the main dining room or the buffet, is always the Magenta dining room. It's smaller and more intimate and they serve the same food there as they do in the main dining room. We ate there almost every night of our 19-day cruise and our food always came to the table fresh and hot. (we also had the best look server on the entire ship. Turns out he had a twin brother in the buffet)

  5. Happens to me all the time on any cruise. It's usually because I have my camera around my neck as well as my card on a lanyard. I stopped doing that but it kept happening and I realized I was wearing a magnetic bracelet.

Sometimes it happens after having used it in the casino.

  6. I just came of the Pearl after a 19-night Panama Canal cruise out of Vancouver where we had an aft-facing cabin.

As soon as we boarded on the first day, we headed for the Summer Palace dining room where they were playing Christmas Carols. In Sept????

We went back for dinner and we were placed near the piano which was playing honkey-tonk music, which I love, but it was very loud and we could hardly talk among ourselves.

After than we decided to go to Indigo. We got there at opening every night except one when we were given a pager and a free glass of champagne. Because we were there at opening, we were able to get the same table and server every night. The food was delicious and came out piping hot every single service.

The entertainment in the lounges was so-so. One fellow sounded like Neil Diamond and did a lot of tributes to the Eagles, Beatles, etc. He was pretty good but when he asked for requests, he didn't know any of the songs I asked for.

The furnishings in the Spinnaker and Bliss lounges were pretty out-there.

But these minor issues in no way detracted from our enjoyment of the cruise. The crew was great, the ship in great shape and the food was great. What more could you ask? I'd sail on her again in a minute.

  7. I just want to say thank-you to all who have been providing us with this very entertaining story. I'm so disappointed to have come to the last page though I'm hoping there will be many more.

I am also from BC and I can't imagine driving myself across the country solo the way he did. That's pretty impressive.

I cruise a lot and hope one day I'll run into him...maybe on the Ruby Princess in the fall.

Someone, a few pages back, mentioned Sherpas and I had this immediate thought that someone could organize a "cruise along with Egon" possee.

Somebody each week could be on the same ship with him to help him out. What an adventure that would be. LOL I will certainly be watching this space for further updates.

Yellowbird, I'm sorry about your pups. Heartbreaking I know. I've lost 3 cats in the last 2 years. My last kitty is 14 years old and still thinks she's a kitten. She's slowing down a bit and sleeping a lot more, but I don't think she's going anywhere for a while.

  8. My 5-y/o granddaughter asked me to take her cow "Mooly" with me on my first cruise which was to the Mex Riv. Mooly went along with his head sticking out of my backpack and had his picture taken at various places around the ship. Every day I'd send a new picture of Mooly to my granddaughter. My son said that she waited every day for the picture to come and always had a big smile on her face.

Mooly came home with a just-his-size sombrero and a "I (heart) Puerto Vallarta t-shirt, also just his size.

  9. This is sooooooooooo great. Thank you so much. I wouldn't have to worry about the beam, but the vent is right next to the room my TA has on hold. B757. I'm not sure this is the best choice, I hope others will let me know if a cabin next to the vent is noisy.

Again, Jerseyguys, thank you so much for the pic. It is a huge help!!!

I just came off 20 days on the Crown in B757 and though I could hear the vent, it wasn't off-putting and in fact, the wake was louder. I loved the fact that it was large and sheltered.
