  1. It's official! French Blue is now called French Bee. But the big news is they now have traffic rights to pickup passengers in SFO and deliver to PPT plus the return.

They will operate two R/T per week between SFO to PPT. Flights will be:

BF710 San Francisco to Papeete departing 11:55PM arriving 5:15AM (+1 day)

BF711 Papeete to San Francisco departing 7:30AM arriving 6:30PM

It appears the airline is working on getting up a English website to purchase tickets. Currently the French language website only has PPT - SFO R/T but that should change soon.

In terms of the fares, right now I see 334.50EUR roundtrip fares from Tahiti to San Francisco. FYI that is $413 USD :O

That’s fantastic. Thanks for posting. Do you know if such flights are available for booking in US now?

  2. I did send both of you an email. Let me know if you did not receive it.

Doug, I would love to have your agent's contact info as well. Just began to plan a PG cruise hopefully for 2018. You can send it to lisah168 at yahoo dot com

    Thanks!

  3. This is one of the best threads on CC. I have been lurking for a while. Thank you for providing such detailed info. I have been thinking about taking a trip to FP. Now I’m fully convinced that our first trip should be on PG. One quick question: what is the best time to take such a trip if I want to balance between lower prices for cruise/airfares and relatively good weather? We are into snorkeling and general sightseeing, and are flexible about when to travel. Thanks!

  4. Thank you so much, JBare, for the detailed info. This sounds like something that could be easily dealt with. May I ask who is providing the minibus to port of entry, city of San Antonio or cruise ship? I would guess it’s the former. Also, how long does it take to reach Santiago? Did you take a cab or metro from there to your hotel?

  5. We sailed on HAL Zuiderdam in May/June this year and I thought the ship was fine, even though it’s a bit worn compared to when we did its Alaska sailing in 2011. Food was good, similar to Princess and Celebrity level. We enjoyed all the ports visited. The only issue we had was due to bad weather, we didn’t reach Warnemunde until much later. As a result, we only spent a couple of hours in Berlin after a long drive to get there. This is really no one’s fault but it’s disappointing nonetheless. We will have to visit Berlin again.

  6. The story is old (2007) but it was our Antarctic Experience and it was the trip of a lifetime for us. So much so that we are planning a second run at Antarctica in 2019.

Wow. What an adventure! I hope the kind of storms you encountered was an exception this time of the year rather than the norm and our upcoming Zaandam cruise to SA/Antarctica will not be as exciting as yours :D

BTW, I laughed out loud a few times reading your posts, to my DH's amusement. Love your writing!
