  1. Yes! Our last NCL cruise was almost 4 years ago, we were charged when we booked the excursion. I don't remember it being charged later, even meals are charged when booking.

If you wait and book onboard or at Harvest Caye it is billed to your shipboard account. If you book online you pay when book it. Harvest Caye is big enough that it should be no problem booking it on board.

  2. We did this February 2016 aboard NCL and did it back to back. The first week the captain could barely hold the ship at the Horn, we skipped the Falklands and spent the night in Puerto Madryn. On the return trip we had a beautiful day in the Falklands and the water was so calm at the Horn that it looked like you could walk on it. The captain turned the ship around three times so everyone had a good look. I refer to the Chilean fjords as Alaska on steroids. I loved that trip.

  3. Rude people are rude. Period. Money doesn't buy manners. Also, I try to remember that not all handicaps are visible. I have spinal stenosis. Some days I use a cane and some days not. Accessible cabins, particularly with a shower bench, are helpful to me but I don't always ask for a handicap cabin as I like to think there are others who need it more than I do.

  4. I'm a little confused in your description on the other thread. Did you have to pay for this like a regular excursion, or did you just get off the boat and visit the Island?

You get off the boat. They have shuttle to transport you down the covered dock (it is quite a distance). It is not a paid excursion but food and drink in for purchase. You can always go back to the ship to eat for free. There are water stations for free. And misting fans.

  5. I have been to Belize and Harvest Caye. Both have their pros and cons depending on what you like. I can say the shuttles from the ship are brilliant and the drivers are super helpful. They even have beach wheel chairs and the island is very accessible. The beach is very nice, very large and there are 3000 loungers. The pool is fresh water, large and life guarded. The free nature area with the Butterfly house with the Blue Morphos and the bird area are very pleasant. We returned to the ship to eat rather than pay for additional food on the island. It was a pleasant enough beach day. It will be interesting to see how Belize and cruise ships adapt to each other in time. I have done the river cruise and the visit to Altun Ha before and the ride through the manatee reserve. I would have done it again and hope they eventually offer such excursions from Harvest Caye.

  6. If you don't say something nothing will change. The squeaky wheel gets oiled. They can't fix what they don't know about. It is so much better to say something aboard than to come on sites like this and complain. We have had excelent experiences by saying or writing something to the Hotel Director, Food and Beverage Manager or Maitre 'D

  7. As a fellow Brit female, I thought I would just add my thoughts, pretty much agree with all previous posters, I like to dress up a bit in the evening, but very rarely wear dresses, I take several pairs of trousers in different colours and team these up with floaty tunic type tops, think Sahara or Phase Eight in the Uk and you will know where I am coming from. Add a nice pair of sandals and some jewellery and you will be spot on. My husband does take a blazer type jacket, which he wears some nights, other than that chino type trousers with a smart casual shirt. Hope this helps. Enjoy your cruise, I am sure you will love it.

Glad to hear about the sandals as that is what I usually bring but I read somewhere no sandals at dinner?

  8. I took Uber the last time we were there, about two weeks ago, and was out of there much, much quicker than those waiting on a regular taxi. From the time we put our location in the app till the time he was there was less than 5 minutes, more like around 3.

Cost was about 12-15 dollars. After that experience in a clean van with a friendly driver it would be hard to go back to a dirty taxi with a sullen driver.

I'll be taking Uber in Miami from now on.

PS, 5 ships is no big deal for Miami, probably happens all the time.

I always use Uber also. I stay at a hotel the night before in Doral and leave my car there for the time I'm gone at no charge. I have never had to wait 5 minutes for Uber.

  9. Seems like more people like the Breeze than the Vista and I just wondered why.

The Spa feels cramped. The spa beds are few and too close to the little pool...which liked to overflow. When they had the raffle we were all standing out by the stairs and it seemed like wasted space. Not a fan of their spa.

I had late dining. The service was great but the food was often lukewarm, cold or tasteless. My escargot butter was not even warm. I do like the "Try this" part of the menu. Interestingly I was put at a table of Spanish speakers. They were hospitable but I speak little Spanish. Casino is fine and not smoky. I enjoyed the ropes and the skyride even on a windy day.

  10. We'll leave her in good condition.... we're on from the 12th - 26th.

We are taking the 27th of February to the 12th of March from Buenos Aires although we plan to skip the first night and board in Montevideo as we live in Uruguay and have seen enough of BA for now.

We did look at other lines but they all seem to spend too much time visiting Uruguay which obviously does not interest us.

We booked late in the season ( for here) as the kids go back to school the beginning of March!

We will be on this cruise with you. We are back-to-backing Feb. 13-March 12th.! So excited.! Peg
