  1. We are looking for cool things to do in Belize for an excursion and looking for suggestions. Going on the Dream in July and this port has us stumped. Not looking for anything with high action ( think ATVs) or long hikes and SCUBA.

If you are sticking around the town and want a great lunch, grab a taxi and have them take you to Bird's Isle Café, it is not far from the dock, I have walked there and back but I can not tell you how to do if, but you could walk back if you watch how the taxi driver goes. ( I am in my 70's and have done this on several cruises) the place is on the water and many local people, business owners and government employees go there, I love the chicken.

  2. Can anyone tell me if children get to order from the regular menu or are they required to order from a kids menu? My sons are 10 and 12 and take offense to anyone trying to give them a kids menu. They also prefer to eat the adult choices.

Yes children of any age may order off the regular steakhouse menu, but of coarse you will be charged the regular price of $35.00 each for them.

  3. Thanks for all of your replies! I will check and see if there is availability for the 1st night left and book that. We are also going with our kids on the Breeze in 2019 to celebrate our son’s 21st birthday and he’s requested going to the steakhouse too. It’s good to know which night to book it on.

any night in the Steakhouse is a good night, I never go on the 1st night, for one thing I bring my own wine, I don't like cheap wine, also in the MDR I always set at a large with other people and I think it is rude not to show up the first night in the MDR if you are seated with other people that you don't know.

  4. Ask Carnival. The life boat station that the cabin is located in may be at capacity and another passenger may not be allowed to be added.

I think that this will never happen, the life boat capacity is based on all the possible cabins filled to there maximum capability, and a very large percentage of them will not have the maximum in the cabin, case in point, I am going a cruise by myself and the cabin is for a maximum of 3. Many cabins are for 4 but only 2 are in it.

  5. I have a friend who booked single occupancy, Early Saver Rate, and final payment has been made. Now he has a friend that may want to go. What is the policy for adding a passenger this late...what can they do? The cabin has 2 beds, so changing cabins is not necessary, they would just be adding a passenger. Thanks!

I have done this a few times, never a problem, just call Carnival and have all your friends information available, you will need to pay for the extra port fees and taxes.

  6. A few cruises back a newbie couple went went us. They bought thousands of dollars on paintings. They spent a good deal of the cruise going to the auctions. They were happy, we didn't get it.

I have some friends who bought some art on a Carnival cruise, they paid several thousand dollars for it, about a year latter they got a offer to attend a art auction in Seattle, they went and all was paid for, hotel (a 5 star), food, cocktails everything, they purchased another piece of art for a few thousand dollars, about another year later they got a free balcony cabin on a Carnival Alaskan cruise, and again everything was paid for. I guess it pays to buy.

  7. Isn't going to improve. It's getting worse in my opinion. During my thanksgiving week cruise I counted atleast 6 men who walked by our table in uncollared shirts (t shirts) shorts and a few wore caps as well.

And if you didn't speak up and say something to the MDR hostess and have her tell those that are not complying with the rules to go and change cloths or go eat on the Lido deck then you are part of the problem and it will only get worse if the people do not stand up to those who refuse to follow all the rules.

  8. It's what my husband usually wears. Carnival has really gotten away from the formal dress. I guess that is why they changed the name from formal to elegant. My husband used to wear his tux, as did many other men. Now, it is rare to see anyone that dressed up.

Carnival hasn't gotten away from the formal dress, it's the people that have. I for one still enjoy wearing a suit, white shirt and tie on elegant night, and I am one of the people (that many will chastise) that will tell the hostess of anyone wearing jeans into the MDR on elegant night to leave. Carnival needs to enforce the rules or change them.

  9. How/where are the cigar smoking areas on Freedom? On the Breeze, I hung out and smoked on deck 5 by Red Frog. Where will I be relegated on Freedom?

    Freedom Smoking Policy:

Outdoors: Smoking is permitted in designated areas on Deck 3 (starboard side) and Deck 10 (starboard side, midship and aft).

Note: Cigar and tobacco pipes are only permitted in the above designated outdoor smoking area on Deck 10.

  10. I just saw John H. post the new gift, Looks pretty cool and needed this time of the year, its a Carnival Blanket with Carnival Logo. Too bad I am not going on any cruises in the near future.

  11. We are booking a cruise on the Glory for November. We are flying in to the Miami airport and will be a day early so we will need a hotel. When I went on my honeymoon cruise we came into Orlando and left out of Cape Canaveral. I found a service called Go Port Canaveral that provided a shuttle to our hotel, then picked us up in the morning and took us to the port, then picked us up from the port and took us back to the airport. The price was very reasonable and included our hotel room for the night as well. Is there any service like this in Miami?

In the past I have always booked a hotel that had free pickup from the airport to the hotel, and had a free service in the morning from the hotel to the port. I always found it quicker and easier just to grab a cab from the port to the airport after the cruise, there is also shuttles outside selling for a reasonable price to the airport.

  12. Awesome! I appreciate the advice everyone has given. I booked the cruises myself, as I generally do.

I'll still pass the info on to John about a week out, I've seen him ask that guests contact him directly through his Facebook for dining requests.

If all else fails, I'll speak with the Maître de when we embark.

Yes this is the best way to get your table, you are doing itthe right way and just ignore the entire nay Sayers telling you not to contactJohn Heard on Facebook

  13. Call 1 800 CARNIVAL and select number 3 for the Guest Care Department.

There was a thread a little while back of someone leaving something in their cabin or safe and they eventually did get it back. Sorry I can't remember the details.

I forgot my I Pad when I disembarked, it was found and returned to me, it took quite a long time, but I did get it back.

  14. I know, yet another dining thread.

We’ll be on the Valor in February, with a group of 10 family members. We’re all booked under various booking numbers which I’ve linked together in my account online. I’ve also ensured we have the same scheduled dining time.

    My questions are:

1.) Have you ever sailed with a group of 10 and how difficult was it to get seated together?

2.) Does Carnival have tables for 10? The most I can ever remember was 8.

I plan on sending a message to John Heald closer to our sail date, hoping this helps.

I have seen a table for 10 on some of the ships, but only 1, I suggest that you go onto John's Facebook page and ask him for help in getting this, make sure you give him all the names and booking numbers.

  15. In the beginning of December, I had quite a few casino offers. (Premier & Getaways). They were from March 2018 through June 2018. The offers said we had until Jan 2018 to book. I went in today, and everything is gone with the exception of Past Guest offer. I cannot believe all offers were full, as there were a whole lot of them.

I know a while back I had the same issue, and I cannot remember for the life of me how I got the listing back. I have signed in & out, both me & my husband, and I removed from address bar and reloaded to no avail.

    Anyone got any suggestions?

yep when you dilly dally others don't and take the offers, sounds to me like you waited to long to book.

  16. Sorry, I know this has probably been asked before, but wondering if someone who has had experience with this could provide a quick answer.

We are going on a Mexican Riviera cruise. We have priority tendering, but my son and his wife who are traveling with us do not. Will they be able to get on the tender with us, or will they have to go get their own tender ticket and wait for their number to be called?

    Thanks in advance!

Yes they can. You will need to go to the Guest Service Desk and show them your SS Card, and ask them for a escort off the ship, they will take you and up to 4 other people to the elevator and down to the A Deck and put you in line ahead of others to get off on the tender, this is only good to leave the ship, coming back you will need to get into the line for the tender like everyone else, no priority on the return.

  17. Does anyone have a photo of the menu? I would like to see it if you do.

  18. dabear, see you around the ship. This will be our first time at any (shipboard) steak house. Looking forward to it, but I know I will not be able to eat much of what is served. I know I will enjoy it very much though!

You might find yourself making another reservation before the cruise is over as there are to many good choices and you would need another trip there to try other things.

I see you fly the flag of Washington State, I live in Spokane. Big game tonight.

  19. I will be sailing on the Splendor on January 14th sailing. We will be eating in the steak house January 20th. I will try and take some pictures of menu and food and post back if you like.

I also will be on this cruise, I have Steakhouse reservations for the 16th, 19th and 24th I can't get enough of the place, I am happy that they will still be using the old menu as I would hate to miss some of my favorites like the

escargots bourguignonne, beef carpaccio, creamed spinach and the Chilean sea bass to name a few.

  20. We will be on the Splendor in late January. My question is for anyone who has cruised her recently do they have the new menu in the Steakhouse?

    Thanks.

as of 4:00pm today the Splendors Steakhouse Manager says that at this time she has no information of the use of the new menu in there.

  21. I know we can email the Maitre' D to request a table for two. What time frame would be best to send this request? Our cruise is 46 days out.

We actually prefer ATD so we can always get the table we want, but we are trying a fixed seating this time around because of DH's food allergies. We're thinking it will be easier to have the same wait staff all week.

Most of the time the Maitre' D will not respond to emails, it is best to ask John on his Facebook page 1 week before you cruise, I have never been turned down doing it that way.
