  1. OMG! When I read this I am just hoping RCCL will not try to put children at our table as that will be unacceptable. We are booked for Chef Table on Jewel in March and we are so looking forward to this as we missed out on another Chef Table due to the NORO virus on a previous cruise. Thanks for heads up as I will definatly be contacting the Chef to avoid this at our table, no matter how well behaved they are. Who wants to eat with sleeping children.

Especially when you are paying so much for a special dinner!

  2. Could it be then that the percentage of roasted cockroaches per 100g gives the different brands of coffee a slighly different flavour!

LOL I got a good laugh over this one.

Did you know that some of the most expensive coffee in the world comes from the feces of a cat who eats the coffee beans, and they are harvested from the cat's droppings!!!

  3. I'm with you on the Cilantro.... people used to think I was sooooo strange thinking it tasted like soap (dishwashing liquid, to be precise)....

Then I read that it is an actual genetic predisposition for a certain percentage of the population.... we can't help it...

One of my daughters loves cilantro, and the other one also thinks it tastes like soap... so apparently only one takes after me... :)

The same is true of brussels sprouts (which I LOVE)... there is a genetic reason that there are people who hate them.

Yes, your genetics will affect how Cilantro tastes! I prefer it in salsa, but everyone else in my family thinks it tastes like soap. Go figure!

  4. You get the dinner menu from your cabin steward and then call room service. We moved the little table to our balcony. We had a big balcony on the side of the hump on Equinox. We used that little table to hold the tray and put our food on the round table. We were in concierge class and I didn't think the round table was very big but it worked well in conjunction with the little room table.

We enjoyed dinner and many breakfasts on our balcony.

If we called and asked, room service seemed to have more than was on the menu. They had soup and some juices that we regularly enjoyed.

The food for us always came temperature appropriate. I wrote in a bagel and smoked salmon for breakfast every morning and got it.There is a room service menu in the X book and also on TV but it's not very large. They were accomodating.

We were on the Equinox TA. Room service was the only dining venue that got an excellent from me.

    Thanks for the info!

  5. While reading the "Cookies" thread on this board, I was reminded of another of my "grossest" foods...milk. The mere thought of having to choke down a full glass of milk makes me want to ...well, you get the idea. I'll never understand how the first person to ever drink milk looked at a cow's udder and said, "I want to drink what comes out of that thing."

Humans are the only species to drink the milk of another species!

Edit: Do you eat cheese?? That comes from milk!

  6. My first cruise in the 80's was wonderful. All adults, totally relaxing. Now it seems like some ships are turned into floating day care centers, with kids running wild throughout the ship. Parents seem to feel that since the kids can't get off the ship they can turn them loose... and there are plenty of adult passengers to take care of them. Your children may be the center of your universe, but they're not my responsibility. If you bring them on a cruise, keep them in line.

I'm so tired of children infiltrating everything on a ship, from adult comedy shows to the dance floor in the disco at midnight. We've reached a point where we've told our travel agent to find a cruise with as few kids as possible. I wish some cruise line would dedicate a few sailings as "adults only" because I know a lot of people who would jump at the chance.

I feel exactly the same way!! It should not have to be a luxury cruise line to have an adult feel, but unfortunately, that seems to be the only way to avoid, unless you cruise the very long itineraries and are lucky enough to find a week or two where all schools are in session.
