  1. Does anyone know/remember when Carla Costa sailed out of New York City? (It was definitely called  the Carla Costa at that time.)  It was probably around 1984-1990 or so.

I booked a last minute cruise, after reading an ad in the New York Times.  I remember announcements done in many languages with English being the last one.  There were lots of Europeans onboard.  Those were the days of excellent food, midnight buffets and great entertainment.  I miss those smaller ships.  Please help me remember the itinerary.

  2. Thanks FiftyOnePlus for the info.  But you are lucky!  I cancelled the same Sky Princess 3/28/20 cruise on March 7th.  My TA called Princess today and no FCC yet.  On June 1st, it will be 93 days from the day I cancelled.  I am still waiting.  I have put a deposit on a cruise for Jan 2021.  I am ready to complain!   My brother asked for a refund for his cabin on the same sailing and still nothing.  Thank you for letting me vent!

You can use valet parking there for a flat $20 fee over and above the regular daily parking fee.  Right next to the terminal.

I just got back from Holland America Rotterdam cruise today, 2/31/19.  My credit card information was stolen and the last charge on it was for valet parking curbside.  Just be careful or bring cash $120 for a week.

  4. Fort Lauderdale does ask to see your Global Entry cards.  When I got my card two years ago, I was told the card was only valid for use coming across the Canada/US and Mexico/US borders.  I do have Global Entry electronically in my passport, but because I could not produce the card, I was sent into the regular line!  This is not right and should be addressed with the port staff.  I actually wrote the GOES people about this!

  5. If you just want to snorkel off shore, just go to Grand Turk beach next to the ship. Lots of colorful fish. Not a lot of variety and no real coral, but still fun. Look for the anchor and in another spot the anchor chain. At Half Moon Cay, swim along the rock wall near the large cabana. Go when the tide is in. I saw octopus and lion fish among others.
