  1. RCL published the schedule for the newest ship in the fleet and the one word that comes to mind is DISAPPOINTING! The ship will only offer 3 and 4 day “party” cruises Mon-Fri & Fri-Mon similar to Freedom out of Miami but at average prices of 7 day cruises on any other Oasis class ships. Many customers will now have to decide to drop $3000 for a 3 day balcony or spend the money at any of the Orlando theme parks (not many families can afford both together to fill the week of vacation so that they can justify the airfare). That is in direct comparison with 7 day Wonder cruises, which is Utopia’s sister ship, also sailing out of PC. Unlike Icon, Utopia has nothing new to offer over Wonder, unless you consider moving restaurant locations on the ship as improvements. It will be interesting to see how quickly RCL will sell this ship. One thing is for sure, it will not be at the selling rate of Icon.

  2. This ship will have interior connecting doors (not hallway for a balcony cabin).

Looking at two connecting cabin's on deck plan the one on the right will have bed by balcony the one on the left will have bed by bathroom.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks. Based on your information, I looked again at the deck plan for the Quantum and noticed on deck 10, D2 (right) and D3 (left) cabins. D2 cabins have a sofa bed, which on other ships I have been on has always been in the window. This would reverse your statement since it would put the bed by the bathroom on the right side. Not doubting you, just an additional data point which makes me wonder.....

  3. Who has been on the Ovation or (any other Quantum class ship) in a balcony stateroom? Typically two balcony staterooms share one cabin access area from the hallway. (Sometimes they are also have a connector door). One of the two cabins has the bed in window, the other cabin has the bed close to the door. I just need to know which one has the bed where? Facing the doors, which cabin has the bed in the window? The left or the right one. Who can help? Ideally you have been in a D6/6D category, but any other one should be similar.

Oasis of the Seas: September 10 Eastern Caribbean cruise

The new departure date will now be on Tuesday, 9/12 and we will sail a 5-night itinerary to Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico. We know this change is disappointing, and we are truly sorry. If you are unable to travel and need to cancel next week’s cruise, we will provide you with a 100% future cruise credit. Pre-booked shore excursions will be refunded to your original form of payment, and you will have the ability to book excursions in our new ports of call once onboard.

  7. I was booked on the Allure on the 3 September sailing but with the approaching hurricane Irma, I decided not to go. I live in Fort Lauderdale and didn't want to be stuck on the ship while the hurricane would make landfall in South Florida. While the National Hurricane Center did not have the exact path 7 days out, it was already clear that the storm would be in Labadee on Thursday/Firday and in South Florida over the weekend (which would make a return very questionable). RCL refused to allow me to cancel/rebook my cruise and I lost 100% of my cruise fare. Here are my questions:

    1. Who is currently sailing/did sail and what was the final itinerary?

    2. Did RCL offer any compensation?

    3. How is RCL dealing with the extension and any independent booked flights?

    4. Who is also from South Florida but chose to go on this trip?

    5. Any tips on how to deal with RCL on claiming a credit/refund?

I hope that everybody who did sail had a great time regardless the irresponsible decision making process by RCL.
