There is obstructed shelf space in this closet due to a support beam running vertically in the far right corner of the closet. The shelves were so narrow you could not even fit a a pair of shoes on them, let alone folded tee shirts, shorts, tops etc. Ask the steward for lots of extra hangers. We hung up everything we could and used the tiny shelf space for underwear and swim suits- things that could endure multiple folds. Don't know if this beam ran the whole height of the ship or not.

Any suggestions for visiting the D Day beaches from Cherbourg? Any known tour operators, or rental cars available at the port to do our own tour? Other worthwhile things to do for a day in Cherbourg?

We have booked a private tour with Alain Chesnel of Overlord Tours. I heard of him on the CC boards. His info is www.overlordtour.com and his email is AChesnel@wanadoo.fr I suggest you search this thread using his name or Overlord tours and you'll get a lot of feedback. He's a bit pricey but you get a custom tour you design. I don't know when you are cruising, but I booked in December for a May tour. This is the 65th anniversary of D-Day so be prepared for extra crowds this spring and summer. Good luck.
