We used them in 2012. Our guide was good at getting us where we wanted to go, but we were disappointed in the tour guide aspect. I've had much better private guides.

Has anyone been able to do a cruise ship tour where you see the highlights of both athens and corinth in one day? Any recommended tours either group or private?

We were on it for a 11 day cruise and loved it. Very quiet and actually quite close to some things. You do have to walk some stairs to get to it though.

I became a vegetarian this year and will be going on my first cruise, on the Jade in Europe this november, since becoming a vegetarian. I know in the past that they usually have one meal on each menu in the main dining room that is vegetarian and usually some vegetarian items on the buffet. Can any fellow vegetarians give me suggestions as to what else I can find to eat? Is it possible to order other foods on the menu in the main dining room such as potatoes and vegetables without the meat? (and I don't want them throwing the meat away that would be on the dish? I am trying to protect the animals one bite at a time). Do they have vegi burgers available at the grill on the pool deck if you ask for it? How about in the speciality restaurants? Can they provide an alternative protein source if you ask for it such as tofu in a stir fry, bean replacement for meat in tacos, cottage cheese with fruit, etc? I don't want to have to survive on salad, pasta dishes and Indian curry for ten days.

No more cold fruit soup in the dining rooms either. And I hear they no longer offer the lobster tails in the main dining rooms. Don't have to take your life jacket with you to munster drill. I think the fresh fruit selection use to be much better at the buffet.

We hope to be able to take the NCL Sun around the horn of South America in either early december 2015 or early jan. or feb. 2016. I understand that the earlier you go the smaller the baby penguins are and that the water is calmer later in the season. But I was wondering about the scenery? Will more of the snow be melted later on making it less pretty? Is it like Alaska where it can be foggy some of the time, especially early and late in the season? I would appreciate any imput you have about this so we can select when to take the trip.

We are planning on going on a cruise around the horn on the NCL sun westbound and are debating between going in early december, early january or early feb. I have been reading through this forum and have learned about the different things you will see with penguins life stages and that the seas are usually calmer in jan and feb, but I can't find anything about viewing the glacers and mountains. I know in Alaska your more likely to have clear weather in the middle of summer, is that correct also in pantigonia? Also, will there be less snow and ice to view during the scenic part of the sailings, making it less pretty, if we go later in the season? Anything else that would be helpful to know to help make this decision?

We are thinking about taking a Cruise over the Christmas holidays in 2015 on the Sun in south america. Can anyone tell me what to expect on a holiday cruise? Will the ship be decorated? Will there be any special food, parties, etc. to celebrate Christmas and new years? Is there problems with excursions being canceled due to the holiday?

I just learned that the Sun is going to return to south america in Nov. 2015. Has anyone out there heard any further details about this? Anyone take the Sun on this intenary back when they use to do it, before 2010? Any info that could benefit us? We were going to cruise this route on Celebrity Infinity but the sun is a lot less money and we could take advantage of our perks by being at the top latitudes tier. Would there be that much difference outside of the different dining arrangements? Plan to go over the Christmas holidays. I assume there will be a lot of children aboard. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks for the info. We are not scheduled to go to any islands so it looks like the weather shouldn't be a big issue, I didn't think of the politics though. You never know what they are going to be doing in greece and turkey.

We will be on a 10 day eastern Europe cruise on the NCL Jade this coming November and I was wondering how often the Jade misses ports due to weather. We have had our share of bad luck with this happening in the carribbean but would hate to miss the major attractions that we are traveling all the way to Europe to see. I understand there will be no tendering for this cruise.

I was wondering if there is much to see precruise in civitavecchia that would make it worth going to it early and staying overnight or if we should just spend all of our four day precruise in rome. And is there anywhere to store luggage if we would want to explore the town after the cruise before heading back to rome.

We usually sail on NCL every year for vacation, but would like to go to south america on the infinity in December 2015. Does anyone know when they will come out with that itenery? Also, is there a secret as to how to keep the price from getting too expensive over the Christmas holidays, when we would be able to go? And last, can anyone tell me what a cruise on celebrity would be like over the holidays? Does the ship provide anything special to celebrate? I have never sailed over a major holiday before.

We may need to switch our cruise out of rome to greece and turkey on the NCL Jade from this april to november. Can anyone who has done that trip tell me what to expect weatherwise in november? will we be able to lay out by the pool, or will we be wearing coats the whole time.

I'm planning my cruise for next year and like to get pricing info before going and hoping someone can help me out with recent prices on a few things.

 

How much do they charge to rent snorkeling equipment? The rental is$29. We always bring our own, you can buy a nice set on amazon for less than $29. Is the snorkeling there very good? Lots of fish, reef not as great. About how deep do you have to go out to find coral/iron shore? Don't know

 

I've read that the life vest are $5.00. Is this correct? Yes, you have to wear one, but we also bring our own. I think that is included in the $29 if you rent the snorkel equipment.

 

I've read that the BBQ is free. Does this include drinks or do you have to buy them? If so, what are the prices of sodas there? If you have a soda card, will they allow you to get soda for free? All beverages are extra. Last time I was there soda was $2. I believe that the soda card works there.

 

How much are alcoholic drinks (beer and the fruity ones) Too much.

Anyone know the pricing of para sailing? That info is on their website under excursions. I think it is around $89.

 

What about jet skis? also on website. I think around $150 for two people on same ski.

Alli is also an excellent guide. He took us to a private place where we could snorkel and he watched my dh and ds like a hawk since they didn't have life jackets. He is a certified rescue diver. He also helped us get the best deal on wood items to take home.

Probably would pick bahamas as a last choice, not that warm or interesting. Also not too sure about a transatlantic crossing, too many ocean days.

We were on the Pearl last month and the freestyle deck was no longer clothing optional.

We love the sound of the wake, which is best heard on the back of the ship.

Can anyone give advice about finding a ship that would have a dark place to go (away from light polution) to get a good look at the sky while out in the ocean - preferably on a more affordable line?
