  1. We used Viator for a Rome tour. So worth the money. Leonardo (“LAAAAY-EN-ARDO”) took us everywhere. He taught us as we went around. He helped us with photos.  The real value came in his ability to get to each place quickly and where to park. He’d park and the next point of interest was right around the corner. We could set our own pace. At the end he recommended a wonderful restaurant near the Vatican. The Cardinals etc eat there because it is affordable and AMAZING.

  2. Omg this is my ONLY complaint of the Escape. No water bottle filling stations. The rest of the world puts this as a priority and manage to do in in a safe manor. I do not understand NCL.  I would carry my bottle up to the buffet. At the beverage stands I would stand aside and fill two plastic glasses with ice, then two more with water. The is a sign the says “ do not fill water bottles here” which I took to mean “don’t put your private bottle under the tap”. I never got scolded and was considerate not to block the space. Eventually I just took a table and carried the glasses back and forth to fill.  Ugh. Fix this please NCL.

  3. I am loving your report and the photos.

I love that breakfast room service door tag. Everytime we use it I think to myself how much that same breakfast would cost in Las Vegas or Biloxi. I know on my last trip to Biloxi, Bagels and Lox for two with coffee was over to $40.00 by the time you add the 17% tip and service charge.

I wonder how Carnival offers the product they do at the price they charge!

We ordered room service every day for our "first thing in the morning" coffee. The room service choices are printed out, so you check items you want and list the quantity.

We discovered by writing "bacon please" (even though it's not a choice) you can have bacon on your deck with coffee! Yum!

  4. So a lot of us spend quite a bit of time on these boards before we leave. My question is "what did you learn on your cruise that you did know before you left?"

Here's my two: sometimes the ship required photo ID for returning to the ship in addition to the sign and sail card. It would have been helpful to have my driver's license to stick in my wallet/pocket instead of the larger passport I travel with.

#2 San Juan airport has an "Agriculture" or USDA inspection line all travelers must go through. Easy to miss and you will get sent back if you don't pass through.

    What's your list?

  5. PROS-

Fresh air, being able to have a private place to relax when the pool decks are busy, a place to sit and have a drink at night before bed and listen to the ocean, being able to watch us pull in or out of port, being able to check the weather without going up on deck,

    CONS-

Your quiet relaxing balcony can be ruined by a neighbor and thats out of your control. Thankfully we have had good luck so far with neighbors.

I agree! I would add slipping out there in your bath robe in the morning with room service coffee. Watching the activity of docking the ship, private clothes line: dries faster than the shower; I used a bungee slipped through the items as a clothes line. We also adjusted the drapes at night for just right amount of ambient light. We opened our deck to our neighbor/friends deck and had private together space. Priceless!

  6. This list help me so thought I'd offer post cruise opinion...

Loved the small battery "candles" for night lights in the bathroom. Brought two, two inch high ones. Ran both each night all week. If the bath outlet doesn't work without the light on, this was a great alternative.

I couldn't find the Palmolive dish wipes so made my own, handi wipe cut into 4, add a small swirl of dish soap and let dry. Great to washout nasty thermo mugs and Tervis.

Used the bungee for secure clothes line on the deck. Didn't use the clothes pins.

    Have a great time everyone!

  7. We will be on the Valor Sept 2015

Anyone have a copy the room service menu/options..or an idea of what's offered. I was curious about snacks also as someone said they offer them.

Would you say it's a ton of walking from place to place ? We have a balcony cabin on the lido deck, was trying to centrally located to limit my walking...would love to hear if anyone has thoughts on this :)

Favorite shows to see ? Quiet spots ? Any tips for first time cruiser on the Valor ?

    Thanks in advance

We love ordering room service for morning coffee. There are breakfast "tags" you fill out the night before and hook on your door knob. One thing we discovered is if your hand write in "bacon please" you can have bacon on your deck as you pull into port...yummy

  8. What did you bring along on the tour? Obviously a beach bag etc..did you just leave it in the van? Did you bring a cooler? ..was there lunch available to purchase at the beach? Did you bring clean clothes to change into after swimming? ...so many questions LOL Any help would be appreciated.

  9. My suggestion: leave-in hair conditioner.

I have shoulder length hair and pull it up with pony tail bands and it's up all day. Then we swim, bake in the sun, swim again, snorkel masks on and off, go fast in boats or open air vehicles etc. get back and shower before dinner and I am literally pulling my hair out of my head trying to get it down. (Even with the no tangle ones). So now I use a leave in treatment in the morning before heading out. It really has saved me. This is a product I only use on vacation.

Hope this helps someone else. My other must haves are insulated mugs, small cooler and bottle opener (our group will stop for local beer and bring to the beaches) and a small Baggie in the beach bag for emergency supplies you may want/need before getting back to the ship ie band-aid, Imodium, chap stick, eye glass cleaner.

    Happy travels everyone!
