i have done snorkeling in Costa Maya. The best way to do this is to take a $3 pp taxi down to Mahahual. It is a nice village on the beach with a lot of bars, snorkeling companies etc.

In my experience, I *always* bring conditioner.
If you're really nice to your steward, they can usually find someone from a shipmate, but that's most likely on a case-by-case basis.
