Any update on who the current captain of independence is yet?

Do you become a Pinnacle member as soon as you reach 700 cruise credits or do you have to wait until the following cruise to become Pinnacle? I have been present on a number of sailings where people have been presented with their Pinnacle membership at the welcome back/ top tier event. Would they have therefore reached 700 credits during that sailing or on their previous one? TIA.

It seems to be inconsistent is it down to the hotel director or the loyalty ambassador as to what type of benefits you receive and when?

As is often the case, we got different information last night - which makes more sense: The Diamond Lounge will eventually return to where the Diamond Lounge was. The Suite Lounge will take over Seven of Hearts and Cloud Nine. The current Concierge Club will probably become the new Library/Card Room and the old Library will become staterooms. This seems like the same plan from Liberty, so it sounds more likely.

This is what we heard on the TA. The diamond lounge has moved to the seven of hearts & cloud nine while the diamond lounge is shut so they can fit the scrubbers on the starboard side, when they are fitted the diamond lounge will open again.

You've got Danielle Palma in the Diamond Lounge on the Splendour - she's now working on the Cruise Sales team on the Explorer and won't be returning as a concierge

Nancy's (Explorer) last name is Chu and I have heard that Mel Arandia is not returning to Independence for the foreseeable future.

I don't know Mel, but if she does not cater to guests who try to bring unauthorized guests into lounges I am for her. I wish more were like her. If you do not belong in a lounge you should not be allowed.

Mel does everything by the book if you're not on her list you won't get in, unlike some concierges who never bother checking members on their list.

i could not disagree more. Mel Arandia is fantastic and we have sailed with her more than 25 times. She is efficient and effective. I have seen many other sloppy concierges who are liked because they allow non diamond/diamond plus/pinnacle members into the lounges causing absolute chaos. I also find that the crew respond to the way they are treated.

We are Diamond Plus so can board from 11:00am but my nephew and his girlfriend are traveling in the car with us they are only Gold and on deck 2 so their time is 3:30pm looks like they have a long wait lol:D

No this was not the case as the current RCI all inclusive package does not include flights

Isn't that what I said? Cruise only hasn't got a flight hence £300 cheaper.

I have just received a price from my TA for a 7 night cruise on the Allure in May 2015. The cruise is included as part of RCI's all inclusive package which states free drinks package and gratuities included. My TA quoted me 2 prices, the first price was cruise only and the second was all inclusive. The difference in prices was £300 per person. I thought the whole concept of free drinks and gratuities was that they were free :confused: Am I just being naïve in thinking anything could be free ?

Cruise only hasn't got a flight included and all inclusive has, and Allure leaves from Barcelona.

glad you think the behind the scenes tour is worth doing. We signed up for this for our cruise on indy - took a gamble as we don't know anyone whose done it.

Hi Nix111 thanks for the great review, I have dined in Chops Grille many times and have always been able to get wine by the glass on my drinks package, did you tell them you had a package?

Thanks for your comprehensive review. I note you went to the Pyramid lounge and thought the band was good. Do you rember the name of the band and could you tell me the type of music they play please? We have been on Indy and enjoyed Rock the Boat but they are on vacation just now so wondered what the replacement was like for our up coming sailing. Enjoy the rest of the cruise.
