Keep in mind if you are not driving yourself, getting an Uber/taxi from Mama's will not be super easy/efficient-- make sure to pre arrange someone to pick you up if you aren't using your own rental car. Getting a car from the port to Mama's shouldn't be a big deal.

We will have rental vehicles but was planning to return them before going to Mama’s. That way we can straight to the ship from Mama’s.  Whatta you think??

  2. Will be in Maui and want to eat at Mama’s Fish House.  We will be sailing on the Pride Of America.  Cruise ship leaves at 6PM..i can get a reservation at 2:30PM.  How far away from the cruise terminal is Mama’s Fish House?  Please advise.

Seconded.  We did POA once and would never do it again.  It was the worst onboard experience we've had with NCL.  If we go back to Hawaii we'll plan the trip ourselves and hit the islands/areas we want to see again.

We heard similar stores but we have to do it at least once…. we want a fully staffed ship with everything open and operational…giving NCL and POA the best effort to get it done and done right!!!…just don’t take forever!!…

  4. The NCL vouchers we received from our 8/6/22 POA cancellation are good thru 2023.  We are considering various cruise area options. We have a group of 6 couples, all retired and enjoy cruises.  While we really want to enjoy a POA cruise around Hawaii we do not think a staff and venue shortage would be enjoyable.  Mediterranean may be next best option???

  5. NCL’s Pride Of America has passenger capacity limits set at 40% due to staffing shortages.  Our 8/06/22 reservation was cancelled because of it.  Before rebooking, i want to know if things have gotten better, has the 40% limit gone up??…what is the limit??..Don’t expect NCL to openly reveal this information…any ideas or suggestions on how to find out???

Will be sailing on the POA in August.  When we arrive in Maui we are planning to rent a Jeep for 2-days.  Is there any public parking near the ship??  If not, where??  For those that have first hand knowledge, please let us know what’s our best option.

    Just returned.

We left our rental in the shopping mall near the port overnight,.

No issues at all, parked outside of the Wholefoods store. There were about 30 other cars from the ship there overnight.

About  a 10 min walk to the gangway.

    Jeff, Thanks for the info.

  9. You might want to ask this on the roll call too. I know that two members of the roll call were recently on the Coral and they have IPads. They could answer your question.

I haven't been on the Coral in several years but I've been on other Princess ships. I've had no major issues using my IPad Mini. Sometimes though I have to go in a public area to get a signal.

Thanks.....it's IPad and iPhone on this trip....leaving Laptop PC home....

  10. I agree about seeing Santa Monica while you are close to LAX, but no way would I get a hotel in the LAX area, I'd get one in Marina del Rey, Manhattan Beach or Redondo Beach long before I'd stay near LAX. There are a lot of places to walk to to eat and see things in those three areas vs nothing walkable from the LAX area hotels.

If you decide to stay near San Pedro for a hotel, look in the Downtown Long Beach area. There are several threads here about hotels to stay at in the DT LB area.

Yes there are taxis at the pier and Uber is available. What are you doing with your luggage while you are at the museum?

We are staying on the cruise ship...only stopping there on our way to Vancouver...

  11. Will be docking at Pier 93 in San Pedro on May 10th at 7AM and departing at 4PM. Looking for help with transportation to the Endeavor Space Shuttle at the California Science Center. It's about 25 miles from the ship to the museum. Are there any tours that pick up and drop off at the pier that would take us there? Are taxis available? Any suggestions?
