We just returned from St. Kitts/Nevis and did this tour:

We had about 10 on a small motor boat that picked you up at the cruise terminal.  Took a quick, 25 minute trip over to Nevis where all but the three of us got off the boat to do a Plantation Tour then Beach Break.

We were taken to Pinney Beach where there were chairs and umbrellas waiting for us.  Spent about three hours on the beach there, with a wonderful lunch and bar set up (extra charge), but Ebony was fantastic, she took good care of us.   There is a roped off swimming area, and the chairs were at the water's edge.  Just lovely.

The beach is literally 50 feet from the Four Seasons Beach and Resort (and you can help yourself to their wifi).

The boat came and picked us up, and back to St. Kitts we went, with time to wander the port shops.

    Recommend!

    Yay!  Thank you!!

  2. Small world!  We got off the boat when you got on.  I hope you enjoyed/are enjoying.  I have to say, the food was the best of any ship I've been on.  I was delighted.  The staff was lovely too.   Our cabin was the same as yours.  I thought the bathroom layout was a bit odd but that's neither here nor there, just a different use of space than to what I'm accustomed.  The internet worked pretty well for me until the last night when everyone was trying to get their boarding passes and such.  As long as you're diligent about logging out, I had no issues.  I heard others had outrageous bills because they forgot or weren't able.  But yes, pictures were impossible to send.

I look forward to hearing the rest of your review.

  3. Just off the Sky, we had great short cruise! Didnrt see the Rebellious Red Fish swimming the wrong way on the carpet( we did see them on the Jade!!) but loved the Rebellious Fish cocktail! Best one, not made with mixes like others. By the way, food was good, not great, but good & all inc drinks were plentiful, good bar/pool drink service, never saw any drunks. Shows good too, male lead singer deserves a sparkling career away fom cruise ships, he was excellent. Cruise director Tom( a fellow Brit) was soooo energetic he deserves a bigger ship! Well Done NCL Sky. A great cruise for a small price.

I've never cruised NCL, only Princess. We're doing the 5 day to Cuba in May (just booked today!) and was curious about dress code on the ship. What should I bring for the dining rooms? Also, how are the dinners? Mom (1st cruise ins 20 years) is really looking forward to prime rib and the like but I haven't a clue what to tell her for such a short cruise with no NCL experience. Any feedback would be most appreciated!

  4. We will be heading on an Alaskan cruise in August and my family is interested in ziplining. My kids will be 13 and 10 and I know they have weight and age limits but they vary. Is there one port that is better than another for this activity? Is there one excursion within a port that is preferred? Help!

We weighed this question in 2009 and I just made the same decision a few minutes ago. Given Mendenhal is a must-do and I'm a sucker for the sled dogs, zip-lining in Ketchikan is our only option. Last time we did Bear Creek and loved it. (I didn't love the long slide at the end but I was the only one who didn't love the slide at the end.) This time we'll probably do the Rainforest Canopy & Zipline adventure.

If you're afraid of heights but want to do it anyways, Alaska is the place to do it. The people running these courses are professionals, either with their degree in hand (I know, how did I miss that in college) or obtaining their degree. You're clipped in twice and all gear is checked and re-checked. So if you're facing your fear, this is the place.

Also, the entire excursion is only a few hours so you can wander around town or do whatever else you'd like to do in port. You're not spending your entire day doing one thing, which I like.

    Have a great time!

  5. Yes, thank you for posting! June 8th will be my 4th Princess cruise and my 1st on the Grand. The negative posts on the Grand were worrying me just a smidge but I appreciate your post.

A few questions if you don't mind (and please anyone chime in)...

    The pizza, is it included?

For having breakfast in the dining room as opposed to the buffet, how do you know what dining rooms are open? I never saw that in the patter.

    Any other tips?

I'm in a balcony cabin on Caribe...good to know about the closet as we usually stay in Mini-Suites but the deal was too good to pass up for the balcony. I figured everything was smaller so I guess I'm not terribly surprised.

    Thanks!

    Jenna
