  1. We ended our cruise in Warenmunde back in 2016. We arranged a Berlin tour with SPB tours and then at the end of the tour they drove us right to our hotel. They really were very helpful and handled our luggage too. It was a much better price than even a transfer and worked out very well for us.

  2. So i am currently now 165lbs and my goal for the cruise is eat what i want just in moderation. I am very active on cruises, much more then at home. I may even hit the gym early on sea days for 30 minutes or so. Im sure i will gain some but would like to limit it to 5lbs over the week. I leave in 9 days, so will definatly give an update when i return and hooefully will have good news to report lol

Gaining is not an option for me. I will not indulge much. Maybe a few glasses of wine and a few bites of dessert at dinner. I will stick to my plan as closely as I can. Hopefully with all the extra walking and activity I will not gain. I will try to focus on having fun that is not food related. No eating for entertainment for me. Been there. Done that. Don’t want the results that I get with that plan. Lol.

  3. Good job! I've also lost 47lbs in the past year and still want to loose another 30-40lbs. I have given up flour, sugar and alcohol. We are going on a B2B cruise in Feb and I'm not sure how to handle all the food. I'm scared if I start eating sugar and carbs I will not be able to stop! What's your plan? I've lost and gained too many times.

  4. I have a b2b coming up in February and would like to continue with this way of eating while on board and looking for some fellow BLE to share the journey.

I'm down 43lbs and will continue to loose until I get to my goal. I'm about half way there.

For those who maybe wondering this is a program to address food addiction by having lines we don't cross. No sugar or flour, 3 meals a day with no snacks, measured quantities and eating only what you plan. I know there is a growing community of Brightliners out there.

  5. We will be disembarking our Royal Princess cruise in Warnemunde May 4, 2016 and heading to Berlin were we plan to stay for 3 days before heading to Munich for about 5 days. I understand there is a national holiday of some kind during some of this time and wonder how this will impact us. Will museums be opened and how will this affect transportation and train schedules?

Any information would be helpful. We may use the ships transferr for our train to Berlin so that we do not have to worry about our hauling our luggage. We have not yet booked our hotels so any suggestions would be helpful too.

  6. We did our first Celebrity cruise last year on the Equinox last year and loved it. When our friends wanted us to join them on the Royal this year we were leary but really enjoyed it. Here's my hit and miss list.

    Celebrity hits

    Cabin design and bathroom design

    Quiet pool areas

    Loved the martini bar

    Sunset bar

    No smoking in the casino

Ship design in general was lovely

    Bed was comfortable

    Entertainment

    Celebrity misses

Price of speciality dining was more expensive

No brewed coffee at cafe area. Only espresso based

    No self serve laundry

Buffet times more limited and not a good option for dinner

A few issues with cabin service. Late getting room made up and bathroom was not done at all one evening.

    Royal Princess

    Hits

Balcony room was small but better storage

    Beds was comfortable

Buffet area good food and better designed

    Beverage service at the buffet

    Afternoon tea

Self serve laundry and iron available

    Love the IC

    Loved the pizza place

Enjoyed the Beatlemaniacs and the comedian

    Royal misses

    Balcony size

Pools smaller and lacked shady loungers

Seems like less wine and beverage options available

    Smokey casino and tight slots

I really enjoyed both cruises and would do either of them again in a heart beat. If I had to decide it would come down to price and itinerary for me between these two. The beds on the Emerald last time were so bad It was a real deal breaker for me. Not so on the Royal.

  7. Did you just call the dine line the minute you got on the ship to book for your group?

We called soon after we boarded but we were not among the first to board or anything. They took our names and we received the invitation to attend Monday or Tuesday. We were instructed to meet in Vines and the Head waiter came down to get us there and escorted us into the dining room. I think we were in The Symphony dining room on Thursday after St. Maarten at 7pm.

  8. Our group did the winemakers dinner on our recent Royal Princess cruise. I booked the dinner for all of our group with just their names and cabin numbers. There was 10 of us to start but after it was booked 2 of the couples decided not to go as they are rather fussy eaters and not big wine drinkers. They called the dine line 2 days prior to cancel but their places were not rebooked. We ate with just the six of us at the table for 12. We had the Mondavi dinner and it was excellent as was the service.

Be aware that you do not get a choice of menu or which night to attend. They also cannot accommodate for special dietary requests. The only choice was how we would like our filet of beef cooked. There was a white and a red wine poured freely. At $40.00 pp it is a great value and I am not sure why more people are not taking advantage. It seemed that many people are not aware of this great little option.

  9. We were on this same cruise. I would add that our friends that had the Coke package were not able to get free coke at the bar at Princess Cays. They were told that they only had cans of coke and would have to pay the $2. We found some shady chairs and had a nice day. We had the BBQ lunch and the guys loved the ribs. I just had salad and BBQ chicken and it was fine.

  11. I always start out with good intentions of not over doing it. I try to always have lots of fruits and vegetables. I also find I retain more water when I am cruising so stay away from salty foods as much as I can. I choose fish once or twice a week and stay away from creamy soups and pastas. That being said I love my sweets and always have desserts but only once a day. If it is not that good I will not eat it and even if it is good I try not to finish it all. I may have a waffle for breakfast one day or an ice cream one afternoon. I seem to eat more as the time goes on during the cruise and I get into the vacation mode.

I like wine with my dinner and a fruity drink by the pool.

I walk the decks and take the stairs and I even try to walk the treadmill sometimes.

My DH eats everything he wants and lots of it but does not drink much.

In the end I always seem to put on weight but most of it comes off pretty fast. My hubby never gains. It is not fair but that's the way it is. I am on vacation and I will not pass on everything just so not to gain weight. Good thing we only cruise every year or two.
