  1. So wonderful to be back after 2 years. The rooms are nicely updated. The crew is a few “old” and many new but all wonderful.

It’s a bit of a hassle for covid testing, mostly as the rules are confusing/unclear. It was a bit nerve wracking waiting for results prior to boarding. We are a family group of 8 but I didn’t want to leave anyone behind.

  2. Of course every cruise is different for different people but SD could suit you very well. Relaxing with a book looking out at an off-the-beaten-path island is exactly the way I like to spend my day.  For the island tunes, earbuds by the pool as it's nice and quiet so you can hear the water against the ship.

Some start the morning with mimosas and continue on as they began the day.  I generally don't drink alcohol until sundown, but it's not a hard rule.  I'm sure some don't drink at all.  None of these choices has ever been an issue.

Alcohol is extremely available.  And on offer.  As is tons of food.  I suppose some of us are subsidizing other's drinking but I've never felt cheated.

The marina availability varies with islands who allow/don't allow it and always the weather. When the marina is down it's not great snorkeling.  That would be independently arranged or on an extra-cost excursion.

    Happy sailing!

  3. This is going to be my new cruising tradition: tip someone who is doing a tedious job and making the best of it. Also, get the name so I can mention the good service on the cruise survey because that is how these people get recognized by Celebrity.

Thank you! I'm going to adopt your tradition.:)

  4. We sailed on SD II over Thanksgiving too.... wonder if we met?!?

I believe we did meet. Nice sailing group overall--we kept a lot to ourselves to enjoy family time. And laziness! (as befits our sea slug reputation) We hardly "hit the bars" instead ordering popcorn and watching movies in our room.

We are also a family of five. I believe you were teaching us the correct way to pronounce Oregon. :)

  5. Hello Vandrefalk and whatnot!

You're some of the reasons we are taking this voyage. (It's certainly not ease of flying in and out of BGI--tho Cuz's fish shack is a draw.)

Looking at the times of flight, etc, don't know that we'll actually be in time for Oisten's but at least we have the week to catch up.

  6. Just purchased air tickets, making it even more real.

We will be on SDI 2/18 and have it on good authority that there will be some friendly, familiar faces.

Staying at the Hilton. We don't arrive BGI until later but still plan to try to head out to Oisten's to start stretching our stomachs.:p

Sailed SDII over Thanksgiving--it was wonderful.

  7. On SD 2 for Feb 27 sailing. We have had trouble with level of cooling in room before but did not on this trip.

For reference, it wasn't beastly hot outside, but it was typically (lovely) Caribbean warm and muggy.

My preferred sleep temperature is "arctic." Didn't reach that but I was very comfortable.

    YMMV

  8. Just posting to give you all the encouragement possible.

Good thing your friends you wouldn't tolerate for a week couldn't make it.

You've been making so many solo leaps in the past six months it has to be exhausting. Sending you warm sunny thoughts with a lovely deck chair and a welcoming glass of fizzy wine.

  9. I haven't been able to look at the cruise critic boards since our return. It's just too depressing to think I COULD be out there, but no, I'm in here!

As DH already stated and is well known here the crew made it magnificent.

We had wonderful fellow passengers and pretty good weather. Whatever the weather was the crew kept telling us that we were lucky it wasn't "windy" as it had been in the preceding weeks. We soon learned that "windy" is ship crew code for "even the crew was getting seasick." Thank goodness we missed the wind!

The food, much enjoyed from the beginning, has even improved a notch. I really like the new menu and several nights had something from the "available every night" section. A lot of great choices.

As to wine, we most enjoyed a particular blue bottle. Pablo could not tell us much of its provenance except that he held the original owners in high esteem. We do as well. How very, very kind. We hope to be able to join them and reciprocate one of these voyages.

Going off to have a little cry again. As we say to each other every day, "Why aren't we on SeaDream?"
