  1. Our flight  From the States To FCO  arrives Tuesday morning around 8 AM  (October 20th).   There’s a train to Venice that leaves around 11 and we’d arrive around 3ish.  If we get a hotel near the train station and rest up, we could spend the next full day in Venice before heading to Rome on Thursday. The big question for experienced travelers is this:  is it worth the hours of train travel to see Venice for one full day or should we just add this day to our Rome travels?  Also, is it possible to get through customs and to the train station by 1030ish?  TIA.
  2. Funny, I called the Crown & Anchor and they said their was no change to the cruise and we were OKAY.  Hung up, called again and of course, the next one said your reservation doesn’t exist anymore so you’ll have to book like a new reservation, without price protection or on-board credit.  Let’s try one more time.  Called back and finally got someone who knew what was going on.   After 40 cruises, I had to laugh, but I would feel sorry for the first timer dealing with that. Oh well, bottom line we rebooked on the a Independence  for January 24th and the price for our balcony was $100 cheaper and more On-Board credit.

  3. Have never traveled without travel insurance.  Living in New England and traveling in January annually, we occasionally run into weather related problems.  This year was no different but in a different way.  We made our cruise and enjoyed the great Caribbean weather.  However, for the first time, we couldn’t get home due to major storm closing all airports in my area.   Next flight available wasn’t until four days later.  We were “Stuck” in 85° Ft. Lauderdale for 4 days (home was at -5°).   Contacted bosses about our delay, then Nationwide Travel Insurance.  Great customer experience along with detailed info and policy info that resulted in full reimbursement for all our expenses from hotel, restaurants and Uber ride to airport.  Even paid for extended parking at airport.   $87 investment = over $900 extended vacation.    (PS:  received check within 3 weeks after claim made).

  4. Just an update on our Wilderness Explorer Trip later this week. Bags are out and packing is underway. We have been contacted a couple of times by Uncruise welcoming us, giving us updates on our ship, crew and captain. Provided an itinerary and outline of events. I have emailed them a few times and they have promptly responded, even once on a Sunday! We are leaving from Boston at 7 AM to Seattle with an 8 hour layover, then on to Juneau for a 930 PM arrival, night before cruise. More to come, I promise. 🚢🚢

  5. We just made our final payment for our upcoming Alaska cruise aboard the Wilderness Explorer first week of May 2018. Flights booked, hotels booked. Countdown started. Have been on many Alaskan cruises with Royal Caribbean, but looking forward to this one since it’s all about nature and we will see things up close and personal. Will write a trip report if anyone is interested since Uncruise is not well represented on these boards.

  6. My wife and I would like to celebrate our 40th anniversary in 2018 on a small Alaskan cruise. This company appears to have it all. Looking forward to more comments and suggestions, like when to book the cruise and air. We would be going in June 2018 from Boston. We also have Galapolis Islands In 2019 to celebrate our retirement. "Spending our kids inheritance, one cruise at a time".

  7. Just back from Bananarama. Was on Vision of the Seas February 6 - 13th. Did not make reservations. Just went outside gate and they are there waiting. We did the $35 trip, transport, drinks, beach chair and snorkel gear. Well worth it. If you want to go on your own, the cab was about $15 per person round trip. Any questions, feel free to ask.

  8. A few years ago, my wife and I went to Cay Caulker and would go again. We did on our own without any issues. Went into town and hopped a water taxi and spent the day snorkeling. Island was virtually void of tourists. Relaxing time. ( bring you own towels)

  9. So, If I am reading the ever changing "Rules" right, If there are any discounts applied (55+, C&A, Diamond, etc), you cannot use your Visa Points for a free cruise for 2. (Cruise Vacation, 125,000 points).

I called 3 times and got 3 different answers. Anyone have experience on using thier points for the free cruise for 2?

  10. We have had four upgrades over the years. 2 in the last three years. Each one was for our anniversary cruise. We just got an upgrade to a suite on next months Alaska cruise aboard the Rhapsody. I would suggest you let them know it's your honeymoon! Congratulations and start building your memory bank!
