    Please stop your nonsense!

Emergencies such as you have alarmed some about are extremely rare. If such an emergency did occur, there are provisions for it.

No what is nonsense is to not plan for an emergency!  By your strategy getting hurt is rare so why get insurance?  Best to plan for situations yourself rather than rely on hopefully some "provision" will be made!

I booked the Symphony of the Seas out of Miami for June 2020.   I forgot to ask the booking agent if we needed passports??

    Jennifer

    YES  YES

    Disregard any no response!

You will have problems getting off the ship without a passport if the ship had to divert to any other port that what you left at.  An emergency could cause this without niotice!

    Kids,

Anyone know the percentage discount for D+ on single Voom for the entire cruise? I'm measuring it against the current and actual sale for my upcoming cruise.

    Thanks in advance.

I'm seeing different prices, so wonder if each ship is different?  on the Liberty now and get $39.99 discount or two free 24 hour periods. $19 for one day on one device  -  So I used my discount for two 24 hour periods the first few days, my wife used hers on Thursday to get a package for the last 3 days of cruise free

Hope someone can give me guidance how to deal with insurance company after we needed to cancel our cruise in Feb.

we were to be in the Royal suite on Grandeur on Feb. 8th for a 12 day cruise.  I have had a few medical problems lately & we decided that we needed to cancel.  I found out that Royal is only giving us back 50% of the over $10,000 that we paid for the suite.  We have insurance, however, we're not sure if they consider this an pre exsisting medical problem.  Got shingles while on our 7 day out of BALTIMORE WHEN WE SAT IN THE CHESAPEAKE BAY for 2 days.  Has anyone experienced anything like this before?  My doctor has agreed to write a letter, but not sure if this (shingles) is considered a pre existing condition.

Sorry for rambling, really upset, that Royal would do this.  PS:  Suite has been sold.

When my wife was out for a knee replacement Royal allowed us to MOVE it to another date without any loss.  if you booked Non-refundeable might have to pay $100 fee

As a new diamond member cookies and beverage of choice is it.  You need to make your selection pre cruise by calling the C&A desk at 1-800-526-9723. Here are your choices of beverages.

(Emerald, Diamond, Diamond Plus and Pinnacle members) can choose water, soda or juice. • Bottle of Water • Can of Coke or Diet Coke • Can of Sprite or Diet Sprite • Bottle of apple juice, orange juice, or grapefruit juice

Diamond plus with 175+ points has more choices for drinks and snacks.

When visiting the lounge ask for a can of soda "to go" - don't waste it as a choice to the room

We used to bring some on the ship but started asking for this to go and keep a few in the fridge to use during the cruise

and as you note, your experience is at least 1 year old. I was there this year, and this year, is what we experienced as noted in my prior post. I suppose I could have tried breakfast in Chops, but the gold card from the concierge had no printing on it, just our names, at a quick glance the host would know we weren't in a suite. I didn't want to chance being denied and thus embarass myself and DH. Even after GS printed us gold cards, I didn't try as the letter clearly stated my 2 benefits, ice cream and suite access

Sorry, just saw this while I was making the other post.  You answered my question about what was on the key.  Dec 2018 for 3 weeks our regular room key was gold with our name on it.  The Extra Key was only for Diamond Lounge.

So we had breakfast and Lunch in Giovanni's

we have the B & J Suite on Liberty Feb 2019 and had 2 cards. A regular blue one and the concierge had left us extra gold cards for access to the Suite Lounge, it had no charging ability so we had to carry 2 card

Did the Gold card have your name on it?  We had regular Gold card issued, then the extra key for the Diamond lounge,  our Gold card only opened the Suite lounge.  All six trips in this room we were told we are treated like a Suite Room

we have the B & J Suite on Liberty Feb 2019 and had 2 cards. A regular blue one and the concierge had left us extra gold cards for access to the Suite Lounge, it had no charging ability so we had to carry 2 cards. I was checking our balance on Day 3 at Guest Services and the clerk looked at my blue card and said "you're supposed to have a gold card". So he printed new gold Seapass cards for us. Now we had 3 sets. The gold cards Guest Services gave us were for room access and charging and the gold card from the concierge was only for access to the Suite Lounge. Our welcome letter for the Suite states we only get the daily scoop of ice cream (per person) and access to the Suite Lounge. You only have to flash your gold card to get access to the reserved seating area in the theater. I also used it to use the reserved deck loungers by the pool (nobody checks anyway). No breakfast in Chops/Giovanni's, no Suite cocktail party, and no priority debarkation to the dedicated Suite/Pinnacle line at customs/immigration.

Well if you had a GOLD card like we did then should have been able to use Giovanni's for breakfast and lunch.  All we did was show the Gold card one time when going in to eat then never carded again.  Our gold card got us into the Suite

Lounge in 2017.  Last December (2018) used our Gold card for Suite lounge and a 2nd key issued for Diamond Lounge

A promenade cabin above the ice  cream shop on Freedom ships. It has an obscured view due to the cows above the shop. I think it is cabin 6305.

They decorate it in a cow motif, give you free ice cream and Concierge Lounge access. It may now include Suite Lounge access, i haven't stayed in one in over 5 years

We have been in this room 6 times the past two years and always got a GOLD card.  now they claim has only ever been free ice cream and access to the lounge?

  10. Question to anyone that has been in the Sweet room?

Has anyone been told you would have all the privileges of being in a Suite room to include a GOLD card?

We have been in this room 6 times over the last 3 years and were told we had all the Privileges of the Suite room and have 6 gold cards to show for it.  Well in the room this year NOW, and told we get only ice cream and access to the suite lounge room (we are D+, so NOT a biggy for us) .  They asked for proof we have been offered any other benefit before but not even sure if we saved anything back at home.  I remember when we booked being told access to Giovanni for breakfast and lunch, which required a GOLD Card.  But no PROOF we were told this?

So has anyone saved paperwork that showed any other benefits of the room?

  11. On P&O the auto gratuities are taken off at the start of your cruise, probably on the second day. As far as I know, as I haven't done it, when you remove the auto grats they still take off the amount for the days you have already been onboard.
Not on RCI - a couple of years ago we took off the grats in the middle of the cruise. We were going to Speciality restaurants every night and decided that portion of tips should go there. The entire amount was refunded to our account.

  12. When we book our holidays we expect the price to include everything that has been advertised. We do not expect to be charged for gratuities at the start of our holidays, it's like tipping for service before you have been served! We tip when the service has been good at the end of our holidays. It is a shame that the cruise lines do not seem to pay their staff enough money and the customer is made to feel guilty if they do not tip.
I've read there is a Cruise line that includes the tips, but the price is usually much higher. The tips used to be handed out at the END of the trip, but to many were not giving anything (may have because they didn't know or just wanted to get by on the cheap). That is why tips were added to your bill, to make sure the hard working wait staff were taken care of.

The people providing service in Restaurants in the US rely on tips in the same way, and when great service is provided I like to make sure they are compensated appropriately.

  13. We just got off of a Royal Caribbean cruise. We were called down to the naughty cruisers room where they had confiscated our power strip from our checked luggage. (The same device I've brought without incident on at least 20 prior cruises on more than one line.) I tried to reason with him that we needed it for my husband's CPAP machine, let alone the fact that there were two, yes only two outlets in the cabin. They said it was a fire hazard, yet an hour later I saw the ship's photographer plug one in! Has anyone had a problem with this type of confiscation? We met a man on the elevator who says he packs his in his CPAP machine travel bag.

Royal Caribbean has always had an extension cord in the room for my wife's cpap! We just contacted them (or our Travel Agent) in advance for the cord and distilled water. We used to carry an extension cord (without multiple outlets) in carry-on before we found out it could be provided.

Carnival wasn't as good as they wanted a deposit and wouldn't guarantee it would be available. With them we brought in carry-on

  14. Does anyone know if there are corkscrews in the Viking cabins. If not, and you want a glass of wine in the cabin do you just take the bottle to the lounge and ask them to open it or do you buy a corkscrew before boarding. I am also aware some wine bottles may come with a screw cap.

    Thanks.

On any ship that I've been on just asked the room steward for a cork screw and got one the 1st sea day
