  1. Here's an option for you in Juneau. Alaska Excursions offers Juneau Dog Sled Discovery. Their website is alaskaexcursions dot com Looks like you could book this independently. $129 per adult / $89 per child. Transfers included. Sweet puppy pictures on their site!

Enjoy your trip! May you have many more wonderful adventures together.

  2. I'm so glad I found this thread and that it was brought back to life! I love the windsock idea for the balcony. and I read about the 88cent meds at wal-mart. I looked today & ours has it! I don't sail until 30 September but I'm collecting ideas for the trip! The planning is part of the trip!!

Before one of our cruises I did find an over door shoe holder at DT. It was great - I only had $1 invested & I have gotten more than my $1 out of it. Also, some of the DT have the hanging bag w/ zippers for toiletry items. I use one for my costume jewelry. You can see in to the plastic windows for what you want; and the zippers keep everything in where it belongs.

DT also has slim packs of cleaning wipes - in case you want to make sure items like your remote control, etc have been cleaned. (Good use in the hotel the night before sailing.) On our cruise to Alaska I packed window wipes so we were able to keep the balcony door wiped down & enjoy the view even if we weren't sitting outside. I'll get some more of those for the upcoming cruise.

Keep the tips coming! Thanks so much to all who are sharing!

  3. I only have the one tour that we took to offer you - there were 4 of in our group plus another couple off Star Princess this past May. We had booked via their website & a phone call - we went with Alaska Whale Watching-akwhalewatching.com. Our boat captain was Louis & we were on Kaytos. The boat was quite comfortable - could easily hold 12 passengers, but it was just 6 of us. We had perfect weather - as if we'd ordered it along with the tour! Of course we saw whales, sea lions, the buoy, lighthouse & eagles along with a beautiful view of the glacier. I don't think I've read of any one on any tour not seeing a whale! Louis had sodas & snacks available onboard. I am easily seasick so I didn't try the salmon spread - but the other travelers said it was tasty. There's also a small head (bathroom) onboard.

Seeing one of the cruiseline tours go by, we were quite happy to be sharing our tour with just 6 of us & Louis. Definitely the small tour operator is the way to go. No matter who you choose, you're sure to have a memorable day. Our whalewatching tour is a big part of why we plan on returning to Alaska as soon as we can.

    Enjoy your cruise!

  4. Wow! All the pics & diagrams have solved which cabin we want next time we sail - now we just have to figure out which cruise to book!

With the visual diagrams are of immense help & seeing the pics, reading the comments I know I'll be ready to ask for just the perfect cabin next time we book.

We were on Star to Alaska 10 May. Had A337. We were quite happy, but the picture of the wake with the sunset did it for me. I know I want the aft/stern balcony next time.

    Thanks again to all!
