  1. I’ve heard there is a small sundeck on RC Odyssey of the Seas where nude sunbathing is allowed. Supposedly aft, port side, above the main pool deck. Anyone here know if that’s true or have any experience on this ship?

We’ll be onboard on Aug 2023 in the Mediterranean.  I’m hopeful it’s true, but suspect it isn’t.

  2. I’m looking forward to experiencing this ship in January. We’ve booked an aft owner’s suite with large balcony in the Haven on the Atlantis charter.  The hard part for me is going to be making the choice between enjoying the stateroom versus getting out and enjoying the rest of the ship!

  3. I know it’s been a while, but here’s my report (answering my own question).  There were lifeguards everywhere, 3 zip lines (2 running over the beach, 1 over the water).  Privacy was impossible.  Not exactly my idea of a relaxing beach, and certainly no clothing optional opportunities.  Personally, I’d skip it next time and just enjoy more nude time on my balcony.

  4. Will be sailing on the Spirit in July and trying to understand the upcharges.  What I'm seeing for La Terrazza in the evenings references "a la carte".  Normally I understand "a la carte" to mean "pay per item ordered".  Is that the case with La Terrazza in the evening?  Last time we sailed with Silversea, La Terrazza was our favorite restaurant, but I don't recall there being an upcharge (granted, it's been a few years).  Is Silversea now charging in La Terrazza?

Also, is La Dame the current equivalent of what formerly was Le Champagne?  Or are they completely different?  The only bad meal we had on the Shadow was at Le Champagne, and that is not an experience I want to pay for again.  I wouldn't even do it again as a "no charge" restaurant (and at the time, it was the ONLY restaurant with a surcharge on the Shadow).  I'm hoping that La Dame is not a repeat.

  5. We did French Polynesia on the Oceania Marina.  At a guest capacity of 1250, it’s certainly not as small as Windstar or Paul Gaugin, but we loved the whole experience. The ship feels spacious and is well-appointed; the amenities and entertainment rival ships twice as big; and the food and service were wonderful.

  6. Hi, we’re actually on the Atlantis NCL charter right now. In order to board, we had to provide proof of vaccination, have a negative CV19 test not more than 2 days before sailing, and then were tested again by the cruise line at the cruise terminal before being allowed to board. Also, at checkin, temperature was checked.

Onboard, masks are required inside as well as outside “when social distancing isn’t possible”.  We haven’t done any of the big parties, so I can’t speak to how effectively that mask requirement is enforced in those situations. But on shore excursions and around the ship, people we’ve seen are pretty much following the rules for the most part.

Given the vaccination requirement, pre-boarding tests, and the fact that we ourselves are triple vaxxed and don’t have any risk factors, we’re feeling pretty safe onboard. Have not heard of anyone testing positive so far during the trip (we’re now beginning Day 8), but if that changes, will let you know here.

  7. So this isn’t exactly about nude areas on a ship, but about nude areas on cruise line private islands. The NCL ship I’m on will be making a stop at their private island, Great Stirrup Cay.  Does anyone know if any section of the beach there is CO, or if there are any more secluded areas/coves where nudism might be possible?

As info, this is not a nude cruise I’m on. However, it is all adult (no kids), and our ship will be the only one there.

Thanks for any info or thoughts.

  8. Hi, all, looking forward to finally getting back to cruising and have booked a sailing on the Norwegian Pearl.  It's the first time I'll be on this ship.  Based on the deck plans I've seen, it does appear that there are separate sauna, steam and thermal suite areas for male and female passengers that are within the spa area.  Does anyone know if these are limited only to passengers receiving spa treatments or with some paid spa access option?  Or are these available for free to anyone?

Also, I see 2 "steam" areas designated outside of the spa facility, but no reference to gender.    I also don't see any layouts for the locker room areas.  Anyone have intel on either of these as well?

  9. We'll be sailing on the Norwegian Pearl in January 2022 and have booked a Deluxe Owner's Suite in Haven on deck 10.  Looking at some images and videos of similar rooms on sister ships, it appears that our private balcony is overlooked by the bridge (i.e. the glass wall of the bridge ends where our stateroom ends and balcony begins, so our entire balcony is visible from the bridge.  Anyone have an idea what rules might apply to our ability to be nude on sea days (not while in port)? Or are we stuck with swimsuits even while enjoying our own balcony?

Are there any CO areas anywhere on the Pearl, even if not officially CO but where it's tolerated and crew leave you alone?

  10. Partner and I booked this new itinerary on the Norwegian Pearl just announced by Atlantis.  It sails from Miami like the other Atlantis January Caribbean cruise, but has a more interesting (in my opinion) itinerary, including Panama, Colombia, Honduras, Cayman Islands and Costa Rica.  Any others booked this trip also?  Since it's new, it's currently available for booking only to Atlantis alumni, but I think it's opening up to everyone next week.  I'm guessing it'll sell out pretty quickly.

  11. I am an Celebrity Edge now and can confirm the men’s locker room only has lockers, restroom and showers. Unlike the other recent ships that at least have sauna in the men’s locker room, the Edge has no spa facilities that are gender specific whatsoever.  So if you want to enjoy steam, sauna, etc, plan on wearing a swim suit and having a coed experience.  And expect to pay a hefty fee unless you’re in an Aquaclass category.

One additional comment - while the locker room is on the same level as the spa (one level down from the gym) and connects to the paid facilities, it is also accessible via another door as well.  So guys not paying for the spa facilities can still get into the locker room.
