We have been more than happy with Azamara for many years but this summer we just can't find anything that we like that works for us time wise.

Seabourn have a sailing which we like.

It's more than we usually spend for Azamara but I still think it looks a good option.

Can anyone who has sailed both lines offer any comparisons ?

Also any tips for us first time Seabourn guests

    TIA

We have done 27 cruises on Azamara and are sailing for the 5th time on Seabourn in June. We love both lines and find the crew on both to be excellent - very friendly and helpful. Of course, the Azamara ships are older but, in our view, nicely decorated and comfortable with a great personal feeling to them. The Seabourn ships are more modern and spacious with fewer guests, and the theatre is bigger than the cabaret lounge on Azamara. The entertainment on both ships suits us as we aren’t into large production shows. We have seen excellent entertainers on both lines, although I think Seabourn has the edge. However, the sun loungers on Azamara are much better than those on Seabourn! I would say the food and drinks on Seabourn are more ‘upmarket’, with champagne available throughout the day. That being said, we are always happy with the food and complimentary drinks on Azamara. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me by email at rosteve@gmail.com. Rose

I’m happy to refer you - please send me an email if you haven’t done so already. I haven’t received one so wanted to make sure it hasn’t got ‘lost’. Send to rosteve at gmail dot com and I will arrange the referral.

That is definitely not the set up from any of my spa deck experiences.  I have not been on Onward, but have experienced the other 3.  They originally had a day bed for their sleep under the stars experience, which I now believe is discontinued.  There were a few chairs and loungers and I don’t recall an umbrella (I targeted the day bed for the shade).  Has anyone photos from any of the other 3 ships?

This is the spa deck on Journey taken July 2022

This is good info. Not all ships have been created equally as far as spa deck furniture is concerned. My experience with drinks service has ranged from someone coming round periodically (which varies according to how good the staff member is and how busy they are elsewhere) to a yellow phone to the pool bar which worked excellently.

You’re right Phil. Onward does not have the sofas or tables and chairs that the other ships have, just the loungers and a hanging chair in each of the two corners. There are also umbrellas over the loungers. Drinks service was very good, with waiters coming round regularly.

Thanks for the information.  Just checked the website and the general cabin information for all ships  lists this benefit.   We embark on Journey on Saturday so looking forward to trying this perk as we are in a CC suite.  We bid for a CC last year and were successful but didnt think the Spa was available. We have done lots of Azamara cruises in Verandas or OV but after glancing at the Spa certainly decided it was not worth paying extra for.  We are Viking cruisers also and the two areas do not compare.

However I will be happy to give it a try on our cruise which appears to be full.  Not sure what the Spa capacity is ?

When we were on Onward this month there were 8 loungers each side, but not sure on the other ships at the moment.

Any updates from recent cruisers regarding use of the steam, sauna, and other spa access?  Are passes being sold?  Is access included in any cabin category?

Just back from Onward, Spa access is included in all CC suites as well as Spa and Top suites. Not aware of passes being sold to other categories but no doubt someone else will know. Hope this helps.

  8. Totally agree! There are SO MANY beautiful Greek islands they could visit. It seems Mykonos, Santorini, Crete, Rhodes etc are always included on any Greece itinerary. Some of the lesser known islands would make a lovely change. On our recent Journey cruise it was too windy to call at Mykonos so we were diverted to Syros instead - what a lovely surprise that was!

  9. I’d love a Hawaiian Island Intensive from Papeete, to see more islands and avoid the several sea days involved when sailing from LA. Also, Indonesia Intensive round trip from Singapore - we did this in 2013 and loved it. The only ones that touch on Indonesia seem to be from Australia and we would prefer to only have to fly to Singapore - it’s easy for Australians to get to as well.

  10. We stayed at the Hotel Gaudi for a few nights before the ‘Sisters Meet’ cruise (Quest and Journey in port together). It was in a great location just off Las Ramblas and in walking distance of the port. Our room had a nice terrace with sunbeds right opposite the Gaudi Museum so we could watch people walking about amongst the chimney pots!

  11. I’m not even convinced it’s Covid related as it just means there will be more people on the pool deck - all outside whichever deck they’re on. If this is going to be implemented, I rather fear it is financially motivated, partly to sell the top suites but also to potentially get revenue from guests who would only be able to use the Spa deck if paying for a treatment. This will not be popular with the many guests who book a CC suite under the assumption that they would be entitled to use the Spa deck (including us!) Will be interesting to see if this comes to anything!

Has anyone received the itinerary for the June 27 sailing yet? Athens to Athens? Please post if you have. None of these changes are on the Azamara website yet. Thanks!
