  1. I just thought I would post about something that is really cool that I hadn't read on here. If you are sailing on the Elation out of New Orleans leaving on a Saturday' date=' or on the Dream out of New Orleans on a week when the Elation is leaving on a Saturday, then you will be able to see the ships pass each other on the Mississippi river.

We were out on one of the secret balcony areas on the last night of our cruise on the Carnival Dream looking at all the traffic on the river when we saw the whale tail in the distance. The Elation was coming towards us but it was still pretty far away. We decided to go down to lido to get another drink and then go back to watch them pass. Unfortunately they were going a lot faster than we thought so they passed when we were ordering our drinks, but we still got to see them from the lido. All of a sudden the ship tilted slightly to starboard and we just see the Elation zoom past us.

So if you happen to be going on one of those ships during that time, go out on deck as far forward as you can and watch the ships pass. It was a really cool unexpected bonus that capped off the cruise just right.[/quote']

It's not just on those days either. Just looked and we sail on the Dream the 22nd and we will pass the Elation on our way out as she comes in to sail on the 23rd which is a Monday.

  2. Galveston is actually a premier port for Carnival. A lot of people sail out of Galveston, that is the reason they have one of the newest boats(Magic). It is really a good place to sail out of.
