  1. Hi All,

I am Diamond on RCCL (and love the lounge benefits at night!)... We were able to grab an upgrade on a Crown Loft Suite on our Anthem TA crossing at the end of October...

My question is for anyone that has sailed on a Quantum Class Ship... What are the Suite benefits that we can expect? I am hoping that there is lounge availability for both lunch and dinner, with complimentary wine (lunch)... If anyone has tips they can share about what we can expect, that would be great!

We are so excited to 'jump across the pond' and do our first TA! Thanks so much!

    Angie:)

  2. Mom and Dad are not worried about losing their money (they don't like it, but know that is the situation)...However, I do not want to drive 5 hours to the pier, get there as a 'solo' and have RCCL charge me full fare.

I called RCCL's 24 hour "day of travel" help line and oh my.... you cannot imagine the low level of customer service. Honestly, I think the rep was sitting in his home (the TV was on quite loud) and I know that he fell asleep at least ONCE during our conversation.

    Thank Heaven for Cruise Critic!

  3. Hi All....

My parents and several other friends/family members are due to leave on Allure today. I am sharing a cabin with my mom and dad, who booked under the firefighter promotion.

Now, dad has had a medical situation come up and he and mom can't go.

If I go, what happens to me? Do I have to pay full fare as a solo, at the pier?!

Any and all help, in a hurry, would be so appreciated.

    Thx so much!

    Angie

  4. Hi All,

Leaving on Allure this Sunday (yay!) and just realized that my FaceTime does not work... I plan on buying the unlimited internet package and need to stay in touch with work/home while away. Does anyone have another video chat app that they have had success with, on board, using the ship's wifi?

    I have an iPhone 5.

Thanks so much!! Really appreciate the help, since my techie skills are a bit low! :)

  5. I am traveling with my parents (sharing a cabin) as part of a large, family function.

I am wondering if anyone knows if Allure has an "Aqua Spa" type facility on board where you can buy a pass for a week and use the steam/sauna and most importantly, SHOWERS, (to make getting ready / hair and makeup, easier due to three adults sharing a teenie tiny bathroom).

I was on Allure in April (amazing! Cannot wait to return), but did not know about this family trip and did not realize I better check this out.

I remember that in the gym, there was one co-ed toilet, but definitely, no showers like on every other ship I have been on.

Any and all suggestions / help welcomed! (and yes, I did look into getting a solo cabin, but pricing for that is way above the cost for THREE of us to book a promenade view cabin, so it does not make economical sense).

    Thanks so much!

    Angie:)

  6. Hi,

We just returned from Allure (what an amazing ship and an amazing experience!). We carried on our own bags, BUT, checked a case of water with the porters.

Luggage tags were attached to the sides with shipping tape and I wondered if I would ever see my coveted water, ever again... No worries! By 1:30 PM, water was in our cabin and all was well... I would not go thirsty :p

  7. Thanks to the nice people who took the time to reply...

Definitely looking forward to the trip and even though, a bit of a speed bump start with the $900 upgrade to a meager JR. Suite, we are still excited about finally getting to experience Allure... After reading endless reviews and postings from all of you nice CC'ers, our excitement has been building for nearly two years!

Time to get packing... we head out for our drive to FLL at 6 AM tomorrow... Review to follow when we return.

    ;) Angie

  8. So bummed! I just paid $900 more to switch from my perfect balcony cabin to a "W" guarantee... My travel agent convinced me that since Jr. Suites were sold out AND wait listed, that I stood an excellent chance of being upgraded to a suite with all the suite perks. Well...boo hoo... Paid the $$ and received a Jr. Suite!

Now, the TA feels badly but she says that unless I want to pay another $3000 (I definitely do not), then I can ask at the pier to see if there are any available suites and try to upgrade then, for hopefully, a lower price than is currently on RCCL's website for the suite guarantee.

Has anyone ever had any luck upgrading at the pier? I am happy to pay a nominal price, but certainly not thousands of dollars more.

Thanks for listening... Still super excited about the cruise, just bummed about tossing $900 out the window for the Jr. Suite that has no benefits except square feet (was excited about the concierge lounge, since we are only Diamond and really wanted the special breakfasts and lunches with wine/beer).

  9. Hi Ann,

I am attempting to organize our slot pull on the Sapphire this summer and would LOVE the famous 'Ann Spread Sheet' :) Please email it: AngieTaylor1@cox.net if you are still in the emailin' mood, after sending this spreadsheet to so many CC members (thank you! thank you! thank YOU!).

I participated in my 1st slot pull in DEC on Celebrity Silhouette and it was so much fun! We each brought a $10 and a $5 and received 7 pulls. Sadly, we allowed the casino mgr to select our machine and it did not ever hit more than $10! (Progressive type of a machine). I definitely think that a 'surprise approach' to the casino and the selected machine, is the way to go.:D

We also did a cabin crawl which was really fun and allowed us to get to know our CC roll call members a bit better. I am organizing this, as well, on our Sapphire Princess cruise.

Thank YOU, for sending along the Excel spreadsheet, when you have a chance.

  10. :)

I'm still looking for someone to give a referral coupon to. We sail on 1st March so Ineed someone who has made final payment. I just need your details to fill in on my referral coupon which I then send to Seabourn. Anyone out there anywhere?!!

Hi! If you are still able to 'refer' me to Seabourn, I am paid in full for my very first Seabourn cruise on March 18! I am taking my mom for her 62nd b-day, and we are both sooooo excited! Unfortunately, we will have to stay in touch via e-mail on the cruise (work!work!work!), so the onboard credit would be VERY helpful, if possible. Please e-mail me at AngieTaylor1 at cox.net angietaylor1@cox.net Many, many thanks!
