  1. I will be in PV next week and am interested in visiting the Botanical Garden. But I haven't seen much chatter about it online. Is it worth a visit? How is the best way to get there from the cruise port? Was it damaged during the recent hurricane? The cruise line doesn't offer an excursion there, so it made me wonder if it is worth the time and trouble to get there.

  2. I'm booked on the NCL Sun for an Alaskan cruise this summer. I've never sailed NCL before and have questions about the specialty dining venues that were included in our fare. Apparently I need to make reservations before we sail if I want to make sure we get in, but I would like to see menus of the various restaurants beforehand so I can know where we might want to make our reservations. For instance, which restaurants offer lobster? Are the menus available online anywhere?

Also, we have the UBP - even though we are not big drinkers. It was a "free" perk, but we ended up getting charged the tax/gratuities on the package for the week. Since it covers soft drinks too, I guess we will keep it. Is Coca-Cola available, or do they serve Pepsi products?

Any help will be appreciated. Any other things I need to be aware of before sailing?

    Thanks!

  3. I check Carnival almost everyday, but didn't know anything about the 12 hour $30pp sale. How did you all find out about that? Did it say something on their website as soon as you clicked in; or did you have to check for VIFP specials; or did you have to do a mock booking to see it? Is there any other way to find out than just checking the Carnival website several times each day? I love a good sale!

  4. I feel your pain. I booked three balcony cabins for the Dream, sail date June 29th. About 2 weeks after I booked it, the fare went down... right after the final payment date. It is now down about $300 per cabin; so I'm out $900. Carnival said too bad, so sad.

Like one poster said, after I book it, I'm going to stop checking for price reductions if I don't qualify for one. It only makes me mad.

  5. The price of my upcoming cruise dropped AFTER the final payment date, and I didn't book on the Early Saver plan. When I call Carnival, they say I don't qualify for any refund since the price dropped after my final payment date. When you submit the Price Reduction Form, does it have to be before final payment is due? Or are you submitting it because you booked through the Early Saver program?

  6. What a great pictorial of your trip. I am loving it! We are sailing in August on the Coral Princess so I've been scouring Cruise Critic for info on Alaska cruises when I stumbled upon your post. It has been fascinating and so informative. Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to do these posts. I'm sure posting the pictures has been very time consuming, but I'm so glad you did. They are fantastic.

How did your cruisemate like the Deadliest Catch excursion? My husband and I have booked that too and would like to get any feedback from someone who has done it.

I hope our paths will cross one day on a future cruise!
