  1. I'm using Alaska Cruise Transportation from Anchorage to Seward in July. $180 plus tax for 4. Believe they went up 1/1/17. They do have a pick up in Whittier for Princess. Have to be inside the cruise terminal with luggage no later than 8:45 a.m. I don't have the cost. And since I haven't actually used them yet, I can't say they are good or bad. Throwing it out there as an option to get to Anchorage Airport.

  2. Day 1. Drive to Los Angeles overnight at LAX Marriott

Day 2. Fly to Anchorage over night Courtyard Anchorage Airport

Day 3 Using Rust's Flying Service to fly to Katmai National Park for bear viewing. Over night again at the Courtyard.

Day 4. Pick up Avis rental car. Play the day by ear. Explore Anchorage or head north and east on the GlennHighway. One more night at the Courtyard.

Day 5 drive to Talkeetna and explore on the way. Staying at an AIRBNB?

Day 6 using K-2 Aviation for a Grand Tour Of Denali with Glacier Landing. Rest of day for laundry and explore. Staying at same AIRBNB.

Day 7.Drive to GIrdwood. Staying at an AIRBNB. Explore.

Day 8 drive to Whittier and go on 26 Glacier Cruise back to Girdwood for the night.

Day 9. Drive to Anchorage stopping at every thing we missed. Overnight at Courtyard Anchorage Airport.

Day 10. Return Rental car. Use Alaska Cruise Transportation to transfer to Seward and get on the ship.

    Day11. Hubbard Glacier

Day 12. Juneau. Rented a car. Juneau Car Rental Company.

Day 13. Skagway. Rented a car with Avis. Using Murry's Guide. Heading to Canada

Day 14 icy Strait Point. Nothing special planned.

Day 15 Ketchikan. Nothing special planned

    Day 16 cruising

Day 17 Vancouver. Private transfer to airport. Fly to LAX. Drive home.

  3. Good question! I have them reserved in July from the airport to Seward. Beats the Avis drop off charge in Seward. It also saves us an extra day of car rental. A down side is we will be getting on board a little later and lose some drinking time. That might be a good thing.

  4. As an alternative we are using Alaska Cruise Transportation from the airport to Seward. It is a bus and in our case it leaves the airport at 2:30 p.m. Cost for 4 adults $180.00 plus tax. We have a busy land tour schedule and it will be nice to sleep in and relax the morning of the cruise. It will cut into drinking time, but we won't have any trouble catching up.

  5. I agree with tonyd285. We have only enjoyed Blu one time, service was exceptional. One evening we spent extra time in the bar and were late getting dressed for dinner. I received a call making sure we were showing up before they gave away our table for six. While we didn't have to make reservations we usually showed up around the same time.

  6. We were on the summit September 4-11. We received an email the day before stating we were leaving port two hours early. We already had private transportation pickup at 9:30; so we were good. While the port was a madhouse, Celebrity did a great job in handling the people.

I was more concern about getting off as we had an early flight. We walked off. Each with a large suitcase and a carry on. No problem. Off, through immigration, picked up by private transportation, to the air port and through Security by 9:00 a.m.

  7. We are a group of 6 staying at the same Hilton.. Wonder if there is a van or private service which would give us direct service. If we take the Super Shuttle will they pick us up at the hotel for return to the airport? We are not on a cruise this trip.

  8. Should I be worried? Arriving Cape Liberty aboard Celebrity Summit on Sunday, September 18. Have reservations on Virgin America out of EWR departing at 12:30 p.m. Was planning on a car service pickup at 9:30 and heading to the airport. This is only our second cruise on Celebrity and we are in an aqua cabin. Is 9:30 realistic if we walk off?

  9. Well we could go into the decision of how much you tip the butler. That would be another couple of weeks. As you can see I'm not a big poster. I come to these threads to gather information and once in a while give what I do. In cruising, as in life, there is a lot of options. Do what makes you happy.

  10. Yes we are tip happy, but it is buyer's choice. I'm not rich by any means, but I usually give an extra $ for two drinks when I have a drink package. If I get a server with an attitude, I'll give them the extra buck and go out of my way not to use them again.

  11. On our Panama Canal cruise last March during the Behind the Scene Tour the head of the department said we could have 2 each. We actually came home with one suitcase of clean clothes. As far as the little tag, they are just a reminder of the good time we had while wearing that particular clothing. It is a great benefit, but I wouldn't put in your expensive clothing. I don't have to worry about that.

  12. 'morning and thanks for the timely offering! Did your itinerary include Acapulco? We're on the Star in less than 2 weeks time, Miami to Los Angeles with stops in Cartagena, Puntarenas, Huatulco, Acapulco and Cabo. I've been a little concerned about the Acapulco stop since the State Dept issued another warning just before Christmas. We're sailing with my 86yo MIL and so are feeling especially cautious.

    Best wishes!

Sorry we did not stop in Acapulco. Our stops were at Cartagena, Puntarenas, Puerto Chiapas, Huatulco, Puerto Vallarta, and Cabo. Puerto Chiapas was our least favorite port. It's not well developed and not much to do if you don't take a long bus ride on a cruise excursion. It has a lot of potential, needs time the to put in the infrastructure.

  13. We will be going on the Star’s sister ship in March, what type of “glass” & size 6oz, 10oz etc. does the bartender use for say mixed drinks, would it pay to bring my own insulated cup?

I drank mostly beer and wine. But I did have a few Gentlemen Jack on the rocks. A good poor and was included in the UBP, guessing a 4 oz. glass. Mixed drinks were in a 10 oz glass. To be honest I wasn't paying attention to the glasses, just the booze.
