  1. We are arriving at the port of Miami on the Regent Explorer on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020.  I think we are in one of the smaller terminals.  Will it be difficult to get cabs or ubers to the airport (MIA)?  We are not catching a flight, but picking up a rental car to drive to Orlando for a family party.  We will not be in a big hurry.

    Thanks for any advice.

  2. I'm sure this has been discussed before, but i'm pressed for time, so perhaps someone will humor me!  How is the interior temperature on the Quest during Antarctic cruises?  Will I need winter pj's or are the cabins much as usual?  Very warm clothes indoors?  Variable requiring layers?  Any advice appreciated.  I'm one who is often cold indoors during our Northern Virginia winters.

  3. I recently read the results of a tasting in the Wall Street Journal.  They found.some excellent cabs in the $25-30 range.
That's what we were thinking of.  We don't have the knowledge to choose high end wines in a Chilean store.  I think we'll use our club discount.  I'll study the wine list closely to see if it has some of the ridiculous mark-ups I see at DC steakhouses.  I too am used to DC prices!

  4. I know that in the past guests have been able to bring wine from ashore to enjoy on the ship.  We were planning to buy some nice Chilean cabs in Santiago as we were very disappointed with the complimentary selections on our October cruise on the Ovation, and many of the wines for purchase were very costly.  But the General Information section of the 20190-2020 brochure states on page 126 that "Any alcohol purchased ashore will be collected at the gangway for safe keeping and will be returned to you on the last day of your voyage."  Is this now the rule?  I may have to purchase a wine package or pick the 20% wine discount as one of my Platinum benefits!

  5. I've been looking at the clothes for the outings in Antarctica.  I'm worried that the pants will be much too long as I'm only  5'0''.  How have the items on the Seabourn Outfitter site worked for other petites?  I've thought about trying kids' sizes, but I do have adult hips!  Will I be rolling up sleeves as I usually have to?

    Thanks for any advice.

  6. On our first cruise (Pride, 1998) David Brinkley and his wife were guests. His son was a featured speaker. She was especially friendly and questioned Capt. Strom as if she were the journalist during a bridge tour!

After a cruise in 2012 I read the passenger list. There were two actors, married to each other, who had had featured roles on long-running sitcoms and both appeared in the original cast of the musical "Company". I didn't recognize them at all.

  7. We did United IAD-HNL in BusinessFirst last summer. It was a 767 and configured like international business--2-2-2. Seats were lay flat. I hadn't wanted to take the flight because we had done Kona to Denver on a 767 in First a couple of years before and the seats were standard domestic First. It really seemed like international business.

  8. They usually have to check with headquarters about compensation. When our toilet flooded twice in three days it took over a week to hear back--as we were disembarking. The offer was $750 off a future cruise, which we haven't booked yet. We usually put an open deposit down, but DH was too mad! (He has calmed down since. The second flood happened just as we were getting ready for bed. When DH is ready to sleep, no one should disturb him.)

  9. Reading all these posts made us curious, so we have booked Ad Hoc in Yountville for Jan. 6. We'll let you know what we think. We have another Keller restaurant booked the night before (Bouchon). No possibility of French Laundry. Oh, well.
