  1. We found the flamingos in the salt pond behind the salt house. It’s near a church. St Thomas Church i think. You turn just before the church. The salt house sign will be next to the road. They were back there.  I think the church was on the map but not the salt house. The lady at the lighthouse told us where to find them. 😊

  2. Yes!  You can rent golf carts, regular cars and Jeeps!  Lots of info on this board about the different vendors. We used wet money. We had a ball.  Easy!   Never did find the conch shells but found flamingos so it was a great day!

  3. It has been several years since i have been to this port. There used to be an area off the right side of the pier where harvested conch shells could be found. Is this still the case?  I plan to rent a golf cart and explore the island. Is there anywhere else to look for conch shells?

  4. We are doing a cruise that has a day at Grand Bahama Island and another at Nassau.  I'm not finding anything recent in the search for Grand Bahama Island.  Does anyone have any info on this port?

  5. I’m thinking about doing cave tubing, but I’m a larger girl. I’ve seen weight limits on some excursions, and I’m under those by quite a bit.  But I wonder if it’s hard to manage for larger people. Like getting in and out of the tubes. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

  6. First time cruiser on Royal Caribbean. Can someone please give me the lowdown on the photo package, please? There will be two of us cruising, . myself and my 18 year old daughter. Do we both have to buy packages? Or since we both will be in the majority of the photos together will purchasing only one work? Thanks.

  7. I have a couple of questions about this ship. We are booked in a 6E oceanview. Do the cabins have the shampoo and soap in the dispensers in the showers? Are the safes operated by magnetic strip?

Anything else you wish someone had told you about this ship? We have been on several Carnival ships, but always seem to find something a little different about each one!

    Thanks in advance!

  8. I would caution everyone, I recently prepaid for a Golf Cart with Nathan, unfortunately our cruise decided to skip GT, I have emailed Nathan to get a refund but no response. I guess that's the risk of booking something outside the cruise ship.

We missed our stop in Grand Turk in January and Nathan refunded our money with no problems. I just emailed him when we got back, he said he refunded it, and it was in my next statement. I'm not sure how the port closure has changed his situation, but we had no problems getting our money back. Good Luck!

  9. The last 2 hotels that I mentioned are near the airport and cruiseport, on SE 17th St in Ft Lauderdale. There is also a big shopping center, Oakwood Plaza, between Stirling Rd and Sheridan St in Dania/Hollywood a few miles south of the airport that has chain stores and chain restaurants. Some of the hotels by there are Hampton Inn FLL south, Hyatt Place south, Hyatt House, LaQuinta, and others.

Thanks a million! You are so kind to help us out like this!

  10. Hotels near or at the beach do not offer shuttles. Some decent budget friendly hotels at the beach are Best Western Oceanside, Sheraton, Doubletree Bahia Mar, Courtyard, Westin, and Alhambra. These are all walkable to beach, shopping, and dining. Best Western is a little further from the main area, but still walkable. Hyatt Place north and Holiday Inn Convention Center are a short ride from the beach and offer some shopping and lots of dining in the area. I think they both still have airport shuttles, but you should confirm with the hotels.

During busy times, SAS does not always go between Ft Lauderdale hotels and POM, so you might need to get back to FLL for pickup.

Thanks so much! If beach were not an option...where would you recommend near the airport that is still close to shopping and dining? The same ones?

  11. Great information on this board! Thanks so much! We are a family of 5, 4 adults and a teenager, flying into FLL to cruise out of Miami the next day in January. We will arrive very early on Saturday, like 10am. I need some options for hotels with shuttle and something to do that Saturday. Something close to dining options, beach, and shopping would be great. We are being budget friendly. We will arrange for SAS transport to POM on Sunday. Suggestions?????

  12. Looking for respose from somone who's been recently. Nathan was having some issues with the carts recently, according to the reviews. Did you all have issues recently? Did they break down? I was considering canceling my reservation if they were still in need of repair.

    Thanks!
