  1. Yes- was on the Oasis on September 26, 2021.  Had a rapid test done at Shoppers - $40.00 to fly to New York.  Royal actually gave us our PCR test to get home - on Saturday morning (as we were disembarking on Sunday) - no charge.  No hassle whatsoever (a little stressful, but well worth it).

  2. I read today that the US may have to also start Mixing and Matching with people who took the J&J shot, as it is less effective against the Delta variant.  If that is the actual case, I'm sure the policies will then change again on cruise lines.  There may be some hope.... :-)

Im also in the same situation, I received two different vaccines and there 0 chances that I'll go on a cruise bieng treated as unvacinnated.

Its all or nothing for us.

Me too - I will not go on a cruise and be treated as unvaccinated and incur all the costs... this whole situation is ridiculous!

I thought I'd follow up with a little more up to date information on mixing vector vaccines and mRNA vaccines.

As we would expect, the situation continues to evolve and yesterday a study from the US revealed that the J&J vaccine may not protect against the Delta variant. As a result several eminent Doctors (e.g. Dr Wen, Dr Hotez) are calling for those people who received the J&J to line up for an mRNA booster shot. I also read with interest this morning where Dr Vin Gupta was interviewed on CNBC and had this to say:

“AstraZeneca, when combined with a Pfizer or Moderna booster, is showing tremendous levels of protection against delta, in terms of the antibody levels that are generated in patients.”

“I do think that those one-shot J&Jer’s should be given the opportunity, while we complete our clinical trial ... I’m already telling my patients to do it, if they can get access to it.”
The full link is here: https://www.cnbc.com/2021/07/20/dr-vin-gupta-encourages-jj-vaccine-recipients-to-get-a-pfizer-or-moderna-booster.html

The only mixing of vaccines with applicable verifiable data that supports its use is Vector+mRNA. Any cruise guest with a Vector+mRNA vaccine should be considered well protected against the virus. In fact, it would seem now that such a combination is better than a one shot J&J.

Where did you get this from?  I have a cruise booked for October and I don't know if I should cancel or just wait and ride it out.

Could you post the link to this change? When i go to the website it says:

    • The full vaccination cycle must be completed at least 14 days before your sail date (e.g., received the second dose in a two-dose series such as Pfizer or Moderna or a single dose of J&J).

I just read that too - it changed again from yesterday, but it is a little confusing.  It doesn't say that they will not accept 2 different doses, whereas on other cruise websites it specifically says that two different does will be considered unvaccinated.   Who knows - I am so upset by this.  I have a cruise booked and feel like I've been shortchanged by our government.

Where did you get this information from because on Royals site under the healthy sailing questions about vaccines it still states that mixed vaccines will not be accepted as being fully vaccinated.

That changed yesterday.  They will accept mixed doses, but you may not be able to get off at certain ports is what they are saying.

  7. I just found out that Carnival changed it's policies and if you were vaccinated with AstraZeneca and Pfizer or Moderna, you are considered unvaccinated.  I get their reasoning, but here in Canada we were told to get whatever was available to us and that is exactly what I did and now I because of me, my family will not be able to cruise - I refuse to apply for exemption because I don't feel that I should have to bare the extra costs because of doing something that I was told to do.  Do you think this will change down the road?

  8. I just wanted to vent a little. I apologize if I have offended any of you. Some of your comments seem harsh. Others I thank you for your advice. We are not advanced cruisers like many of you so we had no idea of the policies and that all the mass cruise lines are the same. All I was looking for was some advice. So like one of you said "move on", I will.

  9. I booked a cruise well in advance and paid my final payment in June. The cruise went down substantially. When I called RCCL I was told they could offer me a free upgrade, which I would have gladly taken. Unfortunately, there were no upgrades to offer me. I feel a bit taken advantage of. I know that when you book ahead of time you take the chance of prices dropping, but I didn't think they would drop substantially. Like all of us here, we work hard for our money and I just feel more has to be done for those who want to book in advance.
