  1. We went to a place called Nachi Cochum. (Sp). It was great, all inclusive atmosphere, may not be adults only, but there were no kids when we went. They limit the place to 100 people, all food and alcohol is included. Price was $55.00 a person. It was great !! Our group of 18 were the only ones there when we went.

There is a pool, swim up bar and of course the ocean to swim, and the beach to suntan.

Very laid back atmosphere and not the party crowd.

  2. We have chosen this cabin for our upcoming Princess cruise. Has anyone stayed in this one? What are the pros and cons of our choice?

Is the balcony a small one, and is the view good?

Thanks for any replies, as we have sailed with Celebrity and HA and would like to know the differences.

The Ship is the Ruby Princess.

  3. What a wonderful review, I have lurked and followed along for the whole ride!!! Great pictures and great comments.

I have never sailed that ship but have done 2 Hal's and 1 Eclipse, we are joining the Equinox on the 22nd for our 4th cruise. This has certainly been a big inspiration.

Thank you for a non-biased commentary, as we have fallen in love with Celebrity!!

  4. Laughing as I read this, you are correct !! Everyone was clean and cute, if I may use the word cute for 60 yr olds, there were no holes in pants, dingy t-shirts allowed, and one gentleman had to change into long pants for dinner, as we did know it was against the rules to wear lime green shorts for the main dining room, so we did sort of follow the rules. I do have to admit, we did have to find one as inexpensive as possible in the pier markets. It was done in fun and we did have a blast. We saved our bling for the other nights. :)

  5. We have done 3- 14 night cruises, two with HAL and one with Celebrity. We travel with a group, last cruise it was a group of eight. One night per cruise we have an Ugly Shirt Contest, men and women wear the brightest gawd awful Island shirt they can find.....funny that we have never been turned away and often have been complimented. Usually the maitre d has been the judge. It is one night of laughs and fun. Really !! We have done it in the MDR........The shirts are ugly, bright, gawdy etc, but have passed the fashion police with never an evil word. :)

  6. Not funny , on our Sept Celebrity Cruise had some people that dressed like that and in general very much more casual than on past cruises. It is kind of sad.

I think the policy was changed because people already ignored the dress code and it wasn't inforced in the MDR . I hope it doesn't get worse and still think in the evening, men should wear slacks or a nice pair of Dockers and women should dress in cocktail wear . I don't think any jeans should be worn in MDR ( designer jeans can sometimes have hole in them )

I do agree that not requiring jackets and ties and formal gowns will make for more room in the luggage especially when many of us extend or vacations.

I agree whole heartedly.........I don't think either hubby or I would ever get thrown out of the mdr. We have sailed 45 days with HAL and 14 with X and hubby and I don't even bring jeans along with us. It is common sense to dress up for dinner ( well, at least for some ). Hubby is quite happy not to take a suit but I will dress the same as I did for the last cruises.

  7. Yes, Celebrity is a business, which likes to make money, who does not?

I have two sons in their 30's, both are making 6 figure incomes...Neither owns a suit or tuxedo. But, they sure look sharp when they work and go out.

That is what Celebrity wants. They are going to fill the slots of the future.

Celebrity already gets the few that don't care what they look like, any where they go. That will never change.

It will not make a difference to me and hubby, we may be farmers, but that has really changed in the last years. We have actually been told that we don't look like farmers???? I love stereotypes lol

  8. I was under the assumption that it doesn't matter when you buy the insurance, you have to be stable for 3 months prior to sailing. If something were to happen, the company could come back with a verdict that it was a pre-existing condition, if any changes were made in the dosage of medications and refuse your claim.

If you are not sailing until June, I would make sure any changes are made by the end of February so there would be nothing on a Dr's file, within the 3 months prior to sailing, and buy the insurance then.

  9. That is great service, above and beyond the call of duty !!

Why don't alot of men pack? Hmmm good question.....and reminds me of a story in the past. We were going away for a weekend and hubby, (of course) didn't have time to pack, so I did it for him,

Well, sort of,,,,,,We got to the hotel and he started emptying out his duffel bag. I had packed the worse stuff I could find in his closet, an old wool sweater, he never liked to wear, as well as other stuff, he wouldnt have taken for any money in the world, to finish it off, was a gold lame pair of speedo underwear, he had gotten as a gag gift.

The look on his face was priceless, and he has never asked me to pack a bag for him since.

Of course, at the bottom I packed his good stuff, but was way more fun watching him unpack the top half :)

  10. Heck, who cares about the shipboard credit, I just want them to ease up on the exchange rate when booking the cruise. I know the last time the Canadian dollar tanked they were pricing cruises in Canadian $ about 10 pts better than the going bank rate. I'd love that right about now.

I care about OBC we booked very early, before the dollar tanked and the cruise has almost doubled since then,,,,so its a win - win

  11. We have a group of rooms booked on the Equinox. The cabins are 7223-7239.

Has anyone stayed in one of these? Are there any pro's or con's to these cabins.

The main reason for booking these was the close proximity to the elevators. A few of our group have limited walking ability, so the elevators will be useful.

Please share your opinions on these rooms !!

  12. I've tried several searches to no avail.

Today is final payment day (8/21) for our 11/4 cruise. Our daughter may be needing medical treatment in October and require our assistance in the recovery that could cause us to have to cancel the cruise. Does Cruise Care judge the medical necessity or do they simply accept documentation of the surgery and follow up care?

My suggestion is to call Celebrity and ask your question, asking for a supervisor and making note of the persons name you are talking to.

The guidelines should be stated in your policy, but as with most policies it is hard to find a direct answer to a direct question.

  13. I received the same itinerary from a company called Pearl Seas Cruises. Wow, the price is high !! The prices start at about $7500 per person. We have booked an 11 Equinox cruise for Feb 2016 for about the $2500 per person rate, (booked very early so the price was good).

We have also booked a land vacation for Cuba for about $2000 per person for a 7 day all inclusive (5 Star).

Cuba is beautiful but I can't see spending that kind of money on a cruise!!

We are Canadians so maybe they are reaching out to the U.S. as it is a new thing offered.

I love cruising but not at that price !!
