  1. We are booked on the Ruby Princess leaving San Pedro on 11/26/16. We are staying two nights pre-cruise at the Crowne Plaza. We've stayed there before and enjoyed it, we will be landing at the Long Beach airport on Thanksgiving afternoon. When we have stayed at Crowne Plaza before we have eaten breakfast at Grinders which is within walking distance. Does anyone know if Grinders is open on Thanksgiving day? Also we would like to fly home on Jet Blue out of Long Beach airport on Saturday 12/3 when we return from our cruise. The only flights they have available that day are a 10:20 am flight and a 7:30 pm flight. Seeing how the Long Beach airport is only 16 miles from the port could we make a 10:20 flight if we reserve a private car service? Our only other choice is a 12:55 pm flight out of LAX and I would really like to avoid LAX if at all possible. TIA

  2. Yes on #1. I really don't use the concierge, but others have reported that they can make dining reservations and reserve shore excursions for you.

Yes on #2. I guess you can ask when you get onboard, but I would also put the request in your email to the pre-concierge, right along with your other requests, like empty the fridge, certain snacks, pillow preference, etc.

Ask for anything your heart desires and if they can't do it they will tell you, but don't be afraid to ask.

Here is a list that someone once posted, with regard to what they were asking for:

1.Loungers on balcony instead of chairs

    2. Refrigerator emptied

    3. Pillow preference ( she actually brought it up, so we chose)

    4. Coffee and tea preference (again, she asked, so we gave her our preferences)

    5. Extra hangers in closet

    7. Splenda as the sweetener for coffee

    8. Chocolate covered strawberries at embarkation for sail away

    9. Told her the kind of snacks we prefer, and to skip the canapé types as we don't like those.

    10. Made both the show and dinner reservations, and asked her to note our anniversary on one of the reservations.

    11. Towel preferences- she asked if we needed extra.

And here is the pillow menu:

    Climarelle - body temperature regulating

    Feather - goose down

    Hypo-Allergenic

Overfilled Firm - firm but not too hard

    Reading Wedge

    Ultra Foam - deluxe memory

Could you tell me how to contact the pre-concierge? Is there an email address for the one on each ship? I like the idea of asking for the refrigerator to be emptied and to let them know what pillows we like, because I know they are very busy that first day after everyone is on board and so it might be easier for them if they had this information prior to our cruise. TIA

  3. Thank you for the response. We don't necessarily want or need a personal escort to our cabin was just wondering since it was listed as a perk of the suites and was done for suite passengers in the past if it was still being done. When that was available the suites were a priority of being cleaned, since suite passengers are paying a lot more money for their cabins they were able to get in them and start enjoying what they were paying for, sounds like that is not the case any more. The Cagney's perk doesn't really interest us, we don't use it. We also don't use the concierge, they are usually to busy taking care of the people in the Garden Villas and Deluxe Owners Suites. We pay the extra money for the suite to have the extra room and more choices for room service and to be able to access our suite as soon as possible. So now we just need to decide if the extra room is worth the $2,000 more for the week that they are asking for the suite. We've never cruised in anything but suite so it may be hard to cruise in a balcony cabin without the extra room.

  4. In the above list it mentions:

PENTHOUSES ~ SC, SD, SE, SF, SJ

    Embarkation

    Personal escort to stateroom

    Metallic color key card

1 Full bottle of Sparkling Wine (House) w/compliments of NCL card

    1 Floral Arrangement

    Fruit Bowl *

    1 Bottle of Spring Water

    * Replenished upon consumption

Does any one know if they still offer the personal escort to the stateroom on the Pearl? When we were on the Star in 2009 we received this perk. Then when we were on the Star in 2010 we did not get this perk and was told we could not even get into our suite early, that we had to wait until our floor was called which was after 2:00 pm. Then on the Star in 2011 the suite passengers were held in a room and by the time we were allowed to board the other passengers were already boarding and we boarded with them. Right now we are trying to decide if we want to book a suite on the Pearl there is still one SE left. We like the early embarkation but only if we are allowed to go to our cabin and drop our bags off. Wish we could afford the Haven but a regular suite will have to do for now. Thanks for any information.

  5. a video of the Splendor in Long Beach in Rotation showing off her Aft this AM!

Very cool. Can I ask where this video was taken from was it the Queen Mary or Hotel Maya there in Long Beach? We have been trying to decide where to stay before our cruise and it would be great to wake up the morning of the cruise and have a view like this.:)

  6. I've tried to do a search to find this info but didn't have any success. I'm trying to find an answer for a friend they are taking Princess on an eastern caribbean cruise and they arrive back in port after the cruise at 7:00 am their two flight choices out of FLL are 11:35 am and 2:05 pm would if be possible to make the 11:35 am flight without a problem or would they be better off with the 2:05 pm? they don't want to have to spend a lot of time sitting around the airport if they don't need to, but also don't want to take the chance of not being able to make their flight. It is on a Saturday. I'm not sure how far away the airport is from the port. Thanks for any help.

  7. The aft penthouses on Deck 8 are now BAD...noise from Spinnaker, relocated to Deck 7, makes them 'unihabitable.' The NEW cabins forward on Deck 12 are beautiful...new decor....NICE!!!! Many don't have balconies, but there are floor to ceiling windows. The Sushi Bar is fabulous!! There are lots and lots of deck chairs and places to lie in the sun...and shade. Cagney's is great for lunch and breakfast for suite passengers. Crew is wonderful.

I have been trying to find someone who has stayed in cabin 8670 above Spinaker. Have you stayed there or know of someone who has? I can not find any reviews about noise in that cabin only the cabins on the other side of the ship on deck eight. We have friends who are booked in 8670. I have been in Spinaker since they moved it to deck seven aft and I am pretty sure there is a door on that side of Spinaker that leads into another room. So it is possible that 8670 in not directly over the lounge. I really would like to hear from someone who has first hand knowledge if there is noise in that particular room. TIA.
