Recently back from a cruise on Arcadia,we have only cruised P&O once before about 12 years ago on Oriana and enjoyed it,but preferred Cunard. This cruise was fine for the price we paid although service in the Meridian restaurant 2nd sitting was extremely slow because the waiters had too many tables to serve.
We thought it was a bit mean not to have robes in the stateroom but the room steward was excellent.
My serious gripe was with the Shore Excursions team ,one of the stops was Cherbourg and as my father had been part of the D Day landings I wanted to visit the British Beaches I did research private tours but because the beaches were quite a journey I chose the ships option. Two nights before the trip on retiring I found a letter on the bed cancelling the excursion but giving me the option of the American beaches which I did not want.
When I spoke to a member of the shore excursions team they said it had been cancelled as there was a poor take up 18 tickets sold. I asked if I could have free wifi so that I could research Cherbourg this was declined but the team member said she would research for me. Later that afternoon I was given a letter giving me prices for a taxi to Arromanche which were of course extortionate and not what I wanted. Eventually I was given a paltry amount of wifi but could not find the info I needed.
I feel that the team could have handled my disappointment far better than there take it or leave it attitude, a bottle of wine or immediate offer of the wifi.
I would cruise P&O again if the price was right.

We used Insider Tours on our trip to St Petersburg it was a private tour for 4 of us and it was excellent and not much more than other companies for a group trip.Would highly recommend.

Hi
We used Insider Tours when we visited St Petersburg ,they were great. We had visited a few years before and taken ship tours there was no comparison.
Good Luck and have a great trip.

Hi
We did not do any ships tours when on a similar cruise to .we did book the Flam train independently and even though it was a rainy day did enjoy it.
We took the local tour for the Briksdal glacier and in Bergen took the funicular both ways to Mt. Floyen.
Enjoy your first cruise.

We went to the fjords on last year in late July only two rainy days and it didn't spoil our enjoyment of the beautiful scenery.

We are arriving at Redhook on QM2 in November and will be returning to Southampton same day, what will our disembarkation/embarkation protocols be?

Thank you for the clarification Travelcat, I believe that people regardless of type ,grade or class of cruiseship , hotel or restaurant should behave in a civilised and respectful way.
I am really looking forward to my trip and hope you have a good time too.

As a newbie to Regent, only ever cruised before on Premium and mainstream ships, I do take offence to the post blaming people like me . I have never hogged a sun lounger on sea or land and don't intend to.
I will be on the Explorer next week and like the shade so maybe I'll have to stay on my balcony.

Thanks,I should have mentioned we are staying at South Beach for a couple of nights pre cruise.

We have transfers from ship to MIA post cruise but our flight is late evening, would leaving luggage in storage at airport and going to the Dolphin Mall be an option?
This is in March 17.

We disembarked easily to meet our private tours in September, but on both days when returning to the ship at 4.00 pm there were long lines as only 1 booth open.
-
We used Insider tours,a private tour very reasonably priced, might be easier with children.

Thank you for all the replies.
Looking forward to our cruise, will have to drink the bubbly!

I read in an old post that the complimentary champagne given at concierge level can be swapped for wine and taken to the dining room,is this still the case?

Southampton to airport?
in Cunard Line

Hi
Cunard do have coach transfers that cost £4O per person we have booked these pre cruise. There are also cars and private transfers but the taxis would be cheaper, you could also pre book with local firms.
