  1. Sorry that I didn't see this in a timely manner.

We were in room 767 on our 40th anniversary cruise in September 2015. We did the 7 day Society Islands cruise, so we were not really out to sea. We were also concerned for the same reasons that you are. We were very happy with 767. Motion was not an issue, nor was the soot that some people mentioned. We didn't have any.

We loved the balcony and the view was great. We weren't bothered by noise from La Palette either. There is no bathtub, only a huge, beautiful shower. For me, that is preferable. We prefer a shower, and I always see a tub as a falling accident waiting to happen.

We did not choose room 767. Our TA did. Although we were nervous about it, it ended up to be a wonderful experience.

We have done numerous cruises (only 1 on PG), and have always had a balcony. This was a celebration cruise, so we bit the bullet on price and went for it. If we do PG again (which I hope we do), we may consider a window room instead, in order to be able to use the money for a longer itinerary.

  2. Although we both can swim, we always wear our snorkel vests. I ordered the blow up kind (similar to what you see on airplanes) online a few years ago. I would rather be able to enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of the experience, than worry about having to struggle to stay afloat. For us, better safe than sorry is the name of the game.

  3. Well, I finally made the call to PG to get all of the details and prices for the reunion cruise and the b2b. I will go over the info with my husband and we will hopefully soon decide if this will be the way that we will celebrate my 65th birthday.

I remember some of you suggesting to spend the money on the longest time on the ship that one can afford, as opposed to a pre or post cruise hotel stay. That's one reason why the b2b is calling to me. It would be great to add both the Cook Islands and the Tuamotus to our next FP experience.

  4. We took the Tahiti & The Society Islands trip last September. We like to snorkel, but are careful of doing trips where strong currents are an issue.

We chose to do the PG snorkel excursion on Moorea. It included a first stop in shallow water (standing up- not snorkeling) to see stingrays. There were also black-tipped sharks there. We were a little nervous about that, but as they told us, they were gentle and not interested in us.

The second stop was for snorkeling. The water was extremely clear and we snorkeled around large brain coral outcrops, where we saw lots of fish. There was no issue with strong currents at all. There was beautiful white sand on the bottom and it was even possible to stand up on the sandy areas where it was shallow enough.

    We really enjoyed it.

  5. We loved the Tahiti and the Society Islands cruise that we did in September for our 40th anniversary. (Thank you all for all of your help.). I thought that it would be our only PG cruise ever, but now we find ourselves seriously considering the 2017 reunion cruise. That first week would be my 65th birthday, so another milestone sounds like a great reason for a return to the PG.

  6. I know that clothing has been discussed many times, but as I am in my last stage of packing for 3 timeshare weeks in Hawaii and the PG cruise, I am trying to pare down as much as possible. So, my question is - do women ever wear capris with a nice blouse/top for evening dining or is that an absolute no-no? If yes, that will save me from adding an extra pair of slacks. (I already have several dresses and a pair of tights with nice tops packed.)

Thanks in advance for your help.

  7. Since we will be celebrating our 40th anniversary by taking the 7-day PG cruise, we are considering doing a pre-reservation of the Anniversary Package. It says that it includes a blessing ceremony. I would appreciate any details that you could give me about it. Where and when does it take place? Is it necessary to purchase the package in order to participate in the Blessing Ceremony? Do you feel that the package is worth the price?

  8. Thank you all so much for your help.

We are really looking forward to this new experience and know that we will enjoy it. I'm sure that we will be happy that we chose this way to celebrate our 40th anniversary.

We love experiencing new places and meeting new people. Over the years, we have made some wonderful friends on our various cruises and look forward to the new friends that we will meet on the PG.

  9. Thank you for your quick responses. I'm relieved to hear from people who have experienced these travel arrangements.

After reading your comments, I sent an email to my travel agent last night requesting the IC instead of the Pearl for our day room. I will contact him by phone tomorrow if I don't hear back from him.

Yes, you are right that we will arrive on Saturday the 12th and leave on the 19th. I didn't notice that I had typed that wrong.

I like the idea that we might be able to stay on the ship through lunch before going to our day room and that food will be available upon arrival if needed.

What do you think about the snorkel gear? Will it be a problem getting the right sizes the next day? Do you think that we should bring our own?

  10. We are interested to hear how the experience has gone for you if you had similar travel arrangements. It seems to me that way back when I first started reading this board, some of you mentioned that you have flown in and out via Hawaii.

Here is what travel looks like for us. Since we will be in Hawaii for one week before our September 12-19th PG cruise, we will be arriving in Papeete at 9:30PM on the 9th on the only Hawaiian Air flight of the week. We will also return to Hawaii for two more weeks on the only flight back at 11:30 PM on Saturday the 12th.

I verified with PG that they wait for the HA flight each week and we arranged the transfer through PG in order to be doubly sure that they know that we are coming.

We also booked a day room for the 12th - again through PG via our travel agent. We were given a reservation that includes transfers (ship to hotel & hotel to airport) at the Tahiti Pearl Beach Resort. It also includes a 1/2 day tour of Papeete. My guess is that is included so that we don't arrive early at the hotel.

Do you see any issues with these plans? Does anyone have experience with the Tahiti Pearl Beach Resort?

Also, I am assuming that we are arriving too late to get snorkel gear from the Marina and will have to get it the next day. Right?

And if we need food once on the ship (I'm not sure if HA will feed us in coach), will something be available?

We have traveled a lot, but this is our first experience in FP and with PG, so we are uncertain about how this will go.

  11. Dunner mentioned that the AC vent in stateroom #765 is directly over the bed and blows down on your heads. Is this typical in all of the staterooms or its it particular to #765 and #767? I really don't like air blowing on me like that.

I am not at all sure about keeping #767, but everytime I mention it to a PG rep or our travel agent, they tell me that "it is the most popular room on the ship" and discourage me from changing to a midship balcony.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

  12. Thanks Emdee. I am a little confused though. I just looked at the itinerary again and I don't see any sea days on the 7 day itinerary.

If we decide against the aft balcony, the agent is giving us a choice of a balcony near aft on the port side. Do you feel that there is a preference for port or starboard on the 7-day Tahiti and the Society Islands itinerary?
